FyliaoTHIS SHOW NEEDS A FACT-CHECKER probablyBefore Liszt (episode 2), there was violinist Niccolo Paganini (1782-1840) and Farinelli- the stage name of castrato singer Carlo Broschi (1705-1782) who both achieved fame through their concert tours. No shortage of extravagant lifestyle and fan-following/ fans fainting over them during their time. In fact, the age of twenty-one, Liszt had decided to become a priest. What averted his inclination was Paganini’s violin playing. From “Etude Magazine, august 1916: “Was Liszt the Paganini of the Piano?” By Henry Finck Paganini arrived in Paris in March, 1831, on a tour which set all Europe aflame with wonder at the amazing brilliancy of his playing. He performed tricks with harmonics, double stopping and treble stopping, arpeggios, springing bow, together with “guitar effects,” pizzicato and arco simultaneously, and other things that astonished not only “the natives” but rival violinists, who could not understand how he did them. Liszt heard him, and like a flash the thought came to him: “What wonderful things might be done with the piano if its technical possibilities were developed as those of the violin have been by Paganini.” This was my first episode. Hopefully there is no need to check each episode.

HbfunnyClassical and CleverReally well done. Gets my daughter interested in the different composers/musicians that are featured. I wish there was a bit more music played at the end.
-
AJSki19Fluff and Distraction from ComposersToo much talk and not enough music. It’s “Marvel meets Mozart”, entertaining for a little while, but fails to take one’s spirits to greater depths and greater heights like actual classical music achieves.

ZurismomHomeschool Mom - Brilliant!Absolutely fantastic podcast. My kids giggled, learned new information, and were delightfully entertained. As a veteran homeschool mom I felt confident I could check the music class box off for the week. Bravo 👏🏻 We’d love to see more episodes that take us through different periods of music and the musicians who composed in those eras. Well done!

Evelyn the cuteAMASSINGHello Mr.Walliams! I love this podcast! It was entertaining, educational, funny, and silly. This season was amazing! and I can’t wait for you to release season two. I’m Sure season two will be even better then the first season. (Witch was amazing)

AshleysMommyEntertaining & educational! As a music educator, I love anything that makes classical music accessible to kids. My 3-year-old and I laugh through each podcast and my middle school students enjoy the show while barely realizing they are learning. I love the mix of facts, stories, and musical excerpts, interlaced with ridiculous characters, bad jokes, and a Simon Cowell rivalry. Thanks for giving me one more tool to teach my kiddos that classical music is exciting, beautiful, and fun!

billy-iCondescending, blusterous, and narcissisticIf you've seen the Mister Rogers documentary (not the one with Tom Hanks, the actual doc), they show a clip of a wacky, zany 1950s kids TV show as typifying what Fred Rogers found obnoxious about childrens' programming. It was condescending, assuming that kids couldn't handle any real substance and that they really just wanted whiz-boom-bang and fart jokes. Add this show's blusterous, condescending narrator, and it's a tough listen. Two stars only because the good production values show they tried. This podcast is That '50s Show. After one listen (to the Mozart episode), my son said, "Dad, can we go back to the other podcast? I really don't like this." The other being Classics For Kids, which both of us have found to be a real gem.
-
KYAOGreatest musical podcastHi David, I have finished season one of the musical podcast it has been very educational and entertaining still haven’t got the cabbage yet just kidding can you make a episode about Chopin and Bach bye

-
🐨(;BEST OF THE BESTI love this podcast, especially the episode on ballet. I disagree with the people who leave a review and give it one star. I absolutely love this podcast. Maybe some more episodes could be about: - History behind another instrument (Kind of like the piano episode). - more Brahms
-
KJC08John Williams episodeMy children especially enjoyed the occasional potty humor. Their favorite episode was the one on John Williams. Thanks!
-
Kyla GrillonePlease make moreMr. Walliams can you make more. I am 11 and it so good.

*sighing*Please make more!Mr. Walliams, please make a season 2! This is amazing! I listen to this every night. Please make more!
-
o_ctoberMarvelous podcastMy children and I love to listen to this podcast. It’s well arranged, informative, funny and makes classical music much more interesting to children in the pop era. Wish there’s more than one series.
-
Dr. MajesticHad no idea it was for children.28 years old — and listen to it without shame! Are you making more?
-
katicastelloWow!! Even adults learn things! My 8yo is obsessed with this podcast. He asks for it every time we’re in the car. We’ve heard many episodes several times (his favorite is the Liszt episode! “Hey, Baby!”), and I enjoy not only the good, clean humor, but the educational aspect while having fun. Thank you for making a family-friendly podcast on classical music!! It’s by far MY favorite podcast, also ❤️
-
AdrienLaurenKids are obsessedMy kids love this podcast. We’ve heard each episode many MANY times. I hope there are more on the way!
-
K8 LRMore please!Never thought my kids would be begging to listen to shows about classical music. These are really fun! Please make a season 2!

MarykatieChopin, please!See review title.
-
etinkSeason 2, please?Thoroughly enjoyed listening to these (even the terrible jokes). Really loved learning about musicians and instruments I’d not heard of before and even interesting bits about ones I was familiar with. My children enjoyed Mr Walliams silly voice (I mean the voices of characters), the music, and looking up instruments after each show, podcast. Bummed that there aren’t a few seasons recorded; one wasn’t enough. More please!
-
Ryan from greensburough NCMehI am disappointed. I loved David Walliams’s books, but this podcast is a complete and total flop with no humor or fun whatsoever.
-
Round Lake 11Great idea, big flopAs one other listener said, two minutes of enjoyment and sixteen of fluff and a self absorbed , not funny but thinks he is host who prattles on endlessly. I quit
-
bluemeaniefaceIntolerable.Unfunny and wildly unoriginal program anyone could top if given a pen and a production team.
-
NormeeBCringe-worthyReally loved the first minute of the first podcast until I soon realized the narrator has no internal editor. I like me some good humor but this tries way too hard at the expense of actually imparting any useful knowledge whatsoever. Makes me wonder when he hits old age how bad he’ll be around the dinner table... “just ignore gramps, he can’t help himself.”
-
Mudpie55Wonderful and funny.David Walliams enlightened me and made me laugh. Please continue to produce these podcasts!
-
DS75016Underwhelming and disappointingI generally like the classic fm articles and stories that I’ve seen this far and was excited about this podcast as a potential great way to become more knowledgeable on music history, composers and pieces, associated controversies, etc. Although the information that is actually there is interesting, the ‘storytelling’, awful role play and bad jokes totally and completely ruined it. It made me cringe and just want to fast forward to the next bit of actual information. I’m not looking for something super dry or technical and a conversational delivery would be great, but as someone with an interest in classical music this price of fluff with maybe 2 minutes’ worth of information was a waste of my time. If this podcast turns into something more than this in the future I would be happy to give it another listen.
