We Hate Movies

4,234
TV & Film #103

Since 2010, the We Hate Movies podcast has been loudly celebrating and tearing apart movies from across the spectrum: from forgotten '80s actioners and insane romantic comedies of the '90s, to the early CGI blockbusters of the aughts and the hyper-nostalgic franchises of the 2010s and today. Every week, comedians Andrew Jupin, Stephen Sajdak, Eric Szyszka, and Chris Cabin pick a movie from the near-past to discuss and joke around about in all its positive and negative glory.

    These are my guys
Listen to the show weekly and subscribe to the Patreon. And to humble brag a little more, even went to the show in Jersey City. They always make me laugh. Love all the running gags and even the “woke” jokes that come at the expense of past and still existing goblins. This review was really just to cancel out somebody who downvoted the pod because they couldn’t handle somebody questioning the existence of their reality

Stop trying to infuse a narrative
This show used to be good but they keep trying to infuse politics in places where it shouldn’t be. I was looking for a movie podcast, not a woke liberal manifesto. Unsubscribed.

    Long time listener.
I’ve been listening to the WHM boys rip apart bad movies since at least 2018. I started all the way back with the first episode they released in the free feed and now I'm listening weekly as be caught up. Love the show and currently I’m going back and listening to my old favorite episodes.

    Non stop canned laughter
These guys aren’t that funny yet they are constantly laughing at everything they say. I’m convinced they’re editing in laughter to create the illusion of hilarity.

    They Hate Movies and...
They hate movies and I hated this podcast until I gave it another chance. They're playing around annoyed me at first, but they grew on me quickly. Now it's one of my favorite shows. Unlike many "funny" podcasts they actually are. Plus, their takes on films is educted, fun, and usually spot on. Even when they rip apart movies I consider great, I can't argue with the flaws they point out. Great fun.

    Five star podcast!

    Poisoned by the narrative.
Listened to these guys for years. But I can’t listen to them anymore. There is so much heavy handed politics in every episode that it’s just not funny anymore. Trying to accommodate a narrative will never make for an entertaining show. It will just make you feel like you’re being yelled at.

    Great white dopes
Fat white leftists whine about politics most of the time. They fancy themselves comedians apparently

    Must listen podcast
I mean, you don’t really have to listen to them. I think the non-English-speaking world would find it confusing. They’re probably better ones if you’re trying to learn English as a second language. Teaching English is secondary to this podcast main mission, which is ripping into movies. I have openly chortled listening to them, which is high praise for a podcast.

    They’re fun
Be a lot better if they would stop pretending to be offended by everything in older movies. We get it, humor has changed but you don’t need to act like you’re so offended by everything.

    Lol

The WHM Family: Movieing a 1/4 Mile @ a Time
Four friends got together, made a podcast, then made a bunch of even better sideshows, and made the world a lot more tolerable for countless people. Dogs, cats Star Wars, Star Trek, it doesn’t matter what side you’re on. Don’t get in your feelings and just have fun. NSFW, but go ahead and be a little bad. Update: What is it with all the Chris Kornkast Cabin hate in these reviews? Andrew, Chris, Eric & Steve are each awesome solo but WHM shines brightest when all 4 of the hosts are together.

    Lone Wolf McQuad?
Excellent podcast but Lone Wolf McQuad has to be covered. Hard to believe it hasn’t got the WHM treatment.

    Funny Movie Talk
These guys hate and love movies and I love listening to them! Funny movie talk occurs.

    Chris Cabin Really Blows
I love 75% of this podcast. Unfortunately Chris Cabin exists, soley to YELL completely unfunny things into the microphone, stopping the fun and leaving Andrew, Steven, & Eric to offer some forced pity laughs as they try to get back to the fun. He is a stick in the spokes to the other talented, funny improvisers. I truly miss those good old days when Cabin was gone from the show. Shut your fat face you dildo
  • spookyette
    Funny but ruthless 😆
Definitely don’t listen if you’re super attached to a particular movie or even actor because they probably will shred it into tiny little pieces. I would say they’re a little overly cynical in general—like, you can enjoy mindless fun without worrying about plot holes or the quality of special effects—but the name of the podcast is “we hate movies” so you are warned 😁. Overall very entertaining and a good dynamic between the hosts. .
  • Thesuburbe92
    It’s Okay
Just a relentless onslaught of 4 similar dudes trying to beat the others to the same obvious punchline. So the movie content is okay but that part makes it hard to enjoy.
  • paul serone
    Decent
Show is decent when these fat virgin libtards aren’t regurgitating their god awful politics on a MOVIE PODCAST! These 4 suffer BIG TIME from trump derangement syndrome.
  • Bochettesnot
    I hate this podcast.
This podcast isn't about movies, its about these 4 smile-talking a**holes.
  • SKSprinesskitten
    Consistently hilarious
I have been listening to this podcast for years. Each episode is hilarious and insightful. The banter between the host is alway entertaining. I even love when they get WAY off topic as they try to avoid talking about a movie none of them liked. I even listen the episodes on movies I haven’t seen (or heard of) because I trust that this show will paint an accurate picture of every movie. This is a small thing but I love they they fact check details as they talk about movies. It truly is the little things that make a big difference. Thank you for the years on entertainment. :)

    I tried
Cine-files and The Rewatchables were doing movies I am uninterested in, so I thought I would try We Hate Movies again after a long time away. I listened to the Die Hard II episode. Left it after about twenty minutes. It was too much juvenile humor and not enough about the actual film. These guys would do well to reduce the team by at least one, as right now it is four guys who are incessantly talking over each other, each trying to outdo the others with middle school level humor. If you want to know why this podcast was once reliable, try some episodes from five or six years ago. It was funny back then but also much more focused on the movies than it is now. The current iteration might be perfect for some. But to me it is unlistenable. Time to unsubscribe.

    Not a good show
Way too much cussing in this podcast to listen to it out loud around anybody else. I cuss and most of us do, but the constant incessant F bombs are childish and totally unnecessary. If you want to listen to an actual analysis about movies, this is not a podcast for you. If you have a lot of time to waste and have nothing else going on in your life, this will definitely be a waste of time.
  • Pds2152
    Always hilarious!
I love this show! It’s been a staple since episode 87 and I haven’t looked back. After This American Life (OG podcast IMHO) this is #2

    The best movie podcast
The funniest, smartest, most creative movie podcast you will find, be they about “bad” movies or otherwise. These are four of the sharpest guys you’ll ever hear and at least for me, it’s my exact comedic sensibility and I bet it will be for you too. If you like movies, you should be listening!
  • ThisIsCaptainOver
    Fun Deep Cuts
Smart guys, fun show, deep movie nerd level knowledge of cinema and actors. A weekly highlight for years.

    Imitated but never duplicated
This is the funniest movie podcast on the internet. There’s a reason they’re still going strong after 700 episodes. One of the highlights of my week!

    Please work on comedic timing
The body of work is good. They seem to be good podcasters and I like their insight on the movies. I just really wish they dial back on the lame jokes and impersonations and whenever a joke is actually funny, they wear it out so bad.I couldn’t get through a half hour of the podcast it got very annoying. I want to hear what you think about the movie, I didn’t come for the jokes.

    Dad jokes? Yes, please
Relax guys, it’s ok to like a movie. Monday nights are for the boys. Edit: This Cabin hate is hilarious, if you don’t think he’s funny, you probably don’t understand his humor.

    Always hilarious
Had the pleasure of seeing the boys in Boston last year (please come back!) and love the show. Been listening and a Patreon member for years- they always deliver and honestly have helped me get through some tough times.

Great crew and extremely fun to listen to..but
I love this crew, most of the time they are firing on all cylinders and have great dynamic with each other and give some pretty funny takes on bad/ good movies. However, I feel like they need to talk to Chris Cabin and let him know he doesn’t have to try to keep up them when jokes are flowing. He has, most of the time, terrible drop ins that seem to just kill the momentum and from what I can tell, the rest of the group has to rebound from a few seconds of complete silence after it happens with a few fake laughs. Multiple times when there are episodes where Chris just seems to be in joke attempt overdrive, I have to skip forward or jump out of the episode. When Cabin is just ‘normal’ totally fine, his insight into things is good enough. Not everyone on the show can or needs to be good at cracking jokes. He is best when he is just talking normal and giving good context, facts and opinions and letting a good joke happen naturally.

    I love movies
Does double duty by being funny AND triggering conservatives because their feelings were hurt.
  • BigMitty30
    Really good guys
They're sweet for giving Chris' subpar jokes sympathy chuckles.
  • FabulousMelB
    One of my favorites!
I love this podcast. I totally nerd out over all of the Star Wars stuff. I love when they do horror movies, and I love when the wives come on! Keep up the good work!

    My Favorite Podcast
I absolutely love the chemistry and jokes of these goofballs. They keep me laughing and make even the worst films worth watching just to hear their commentary. Just remember, in the words of Eric Szyszka, “It’s okay to like a movie folks”.
  • Sanjur0
I really want to like it. . .
This podcast is pretty funny. The chemistry between the hosts is good and they have some genuinely funny moments. Buuuuut some of their takes and opinions are confounding i.e. hating Iron Man 2 but praising 3. Neither one of those movies are good right? Also some of the comments they make feel low key conservative, like maybe some of these guys voted for George W. Bush. Gross. No thanks. P.S. if anyone’s looking for a better version of this check out Action Boyz. They have a Patreon (well worth it) and a free feed.
  • SuspiriawasntbadTodd
    Jealous
Mad jealous on the skill of everyone’s impersonations. Pods that last hour and a half plus make work fly. Thanks boys!
  • gifbridb
    Total zoo crew
Couldn’t stand these guys. Reminded me of zoo crew radio. All they were short was some sound effects and a woman playing the reasonable person role to say “come on you guys”. If that your thing though, this’ll be a 5 out of 5 for you.

    Good Stuff
I’ve never met these guys but I feel like I’ve hung out with all of them. And the commentaries have made abysmal films laugh out loud enjoyable. I’m also a proud Patreon subscriber. Best listening choice I could have made.
