Oscar and David - Sad to see the show come to an end, but totally understand your reasoning. I used to look forward to your analysis every bit as much as the actual game… not sure what else to say besides thanks for the years of solid content.

Decent enough analysis. NPR level energy though. No sense of who these guys are as fans comes through. Checked back on these guys after a few years of not listening. Glad they fixed their studio setup with upgraded mics and editing.

This podcast generally rocks, but today’s critique of Lance’s second start felt lazy, out of context, and mired in a culture of complaint. By the end of the game, Trey’s performance had risen exponentially from the start, lifting the offense far beyond what you call his ‘incremental’ progress. Trey’s potential for rapid growth was plain to see.

Consistently come back to this pod and consistently it reminds me why they are not in my rotation of podcasts on 49ers.

Can’t believe they compared a monkey to Kyler Murray. Wow guys! Really?

Largely Monday morning QBs at work here who present themselves as having all the answers. Informative sometimes but David’s smarmy smarty pants attitude is consistently annoying.

I’ve been a fan of the podcast since the beginning and never miss an episode. The hosts have their quirks (as do we all) but the info they put out is solid. If you’re the type of fan that likes to bury your head in the sands of positivity, look elsewhere…Oscar and David provide brutally honest (and hilarious) assessments of where the Niners need work. It’s by far the best SF pod out there and I’m digging the new bi-weekly format!

Everyone understands being critical, everyone understands things are never perfect. But what fans, and listeners to the podcast enjoy doing, is finding the positives. Everyone knows you two are complete nerds, some of the reasons we used to enjoy listening to you, but your fear of being “wrong” so let’s trash everything in an attempt to be “right” has ruined the show. It’s not because of criticisms, it’s your lack of positive insight in every single aspect of your coverage. Long time listener out.

These guys are fine if you're desperate for content in the off-season, but they literally can't manage to say a good thing about 49ers players without insulting another player on the team or giving some caveat which makes the overall tone completely pessimistic. David Newman must be miserable to hang out with in real life. Don't waste your time, these guys wish they were relevant and effective scouts, but they're just sitting in their own echo chamber. As a reasonable, balanced fan of the 49ers, I can't stand these guys anymore.

They don’t ever have an original thought. Last one out for a reason when they are obviously just listening to other’s content then regurgitating the parts they like.

Oscar and David are great at being both fans, as well as critical about the 9er franchise. Appreciate off-season episodes for team building the most.

Let’s be real - 99% of fans have no idea what’s going on on a football field. Is the RB good or is it his O-line? Why the heck is that guy so wide open? What adjustments are being made to strategies on both sides of the ball throughout the game? Is the QB making the coach look good or vice versa? Is that draft pick showing signs of being a legit NFL player? These guys answer all those questions and more.

I’ve played and coached for over ten years each, so there are few football pods that don’t feel insultingly stupid to me, but this is one of them. This is the ONLY podcast I ever want to listen to after my Niners lose. Oscar and David help me to intelligently make sense of everything happening with the Niners. They know football, and balance X’s and O’s with analytics without losing a “feel” for such a visceral and emotional game. They balance sober analysis and humor like nobody else. Any Niner fan who actually wants to learn football needs to check them out and keep listening.

Scarlet jimmies is hot garbage. Scheme month is ungodly dry, not to mention, why are we using an audio only podcast to discuss concepts from film? Seems like a pretty obviously glaring mismatch of a combination. Have you ever wanted to LISTEN to paint dry because watching just got you too fired up? Yeah me either. Unlistenable for an entire month.

I subscribe to a bunch of niners podcasts and “Better Rivals” with Oscar is by far the best. They definitely are more analytical and breakdown plays and schemes in a very detailed fashion but that’s not why they’re awesome. It’s because they are the most objective. They tell it to you like it is. They are huge niners fans but there’s no subjective “homerism”. If someone stunk they say so and why. If someone is getting bashed in the media they show why it is or isn’t true. Keep doing what you guys are doing.

You guys don't sound like brainless hateful reporters. I appreciate that to no end. I can listen to this, ignore the baalke of broken record news feeds, and still be on top of what you are saying. Thank you for not treating us like idiots, while still teaching AND having interesting things to say. I will say, david’s cynicism has taken over his reasonableness. He is getting bad with his devaluing of aspects he doesn’t like (rb’s, player presence, contracts, etc.). It sounds like he’s clearly losing balance in his logic. ..just his arrogance is consuming him. If it’s because he’s diving deep into pff numbers, and he’s losing his humanity, cool, I can understand that. Can you just tell him to chill? He’s getting kinda ridiculous.

I was born and raised in Eugene, OR. I was not an NFL enthusiast until I started listening to your podcast, when the Eagles fired Chop Kelly. David and Oscar became my football gurus, and I was a born-again fan. Your offseason scheme analysis became a thorough education in football. Not only do your voices provide a nostalgic 49ers love, but your faithfulness to fans and yet an erudite, salient, and fun commentary continue to keep me a fan long after my Ducks connection was lost. Keep it up, and go ‘9ers.

But I can’t do scarlet jimmies. Better rivals has unbelievable information and breakdowns. The best of any Niners podcast out there. But Scarlett jimmies is rough. If it were better rivals only this would be a 5 star review

Better rivals is a great podcast. I’ve been listening for a couple years now and it’s definitely a great show. Scarlett Jimmies is terrible! I mean it’s just lazy and surface level analysis. Very lazy, the guy who isn’t the host just provides short and poorly thought out answers. It’s a chore to listen to it because they make it seem like it’s a chore to record it.

I’ve been a fan for years because of their funny banter and vast knowledge of the game. Their in-depth analysis of football always has me learning something new. Easily the best 49ers podcast out there and best NFL podcast period. Oscar and David have definitely earned a spot on my laminated list!

For the last month and half the podcast has been less and less about the 9ers and more about Thrones. Their last episode was only 24 min out of 45 about 9ers football that’s including the intro. When they do talk 9ers football it’s filled with skepticism and deceit. A very arrogant tone with very little thought process.

Their discussions are interesting and informative whether it’s the offseason, draft season, pre-season, regular season, or the post season (hopefully “we” will be back in the playoffs soon)!

The quality of this show is far beyond any other Niners or other team specific podcast I've ever heard. I would prefer that the Niners would stop sucking on the field, but having whomp whomp Wednesdays to look forward to eases the pain of fandom.

Excellent breakdowns in team moves, recaps and all other 49ers news. I wish Oscar and company would create an NFL news podcast as well, just so I can get their excellent coverage on league wide news as well.

The best sports talk - not just Niners or football, but all sports - I’ve listened to. Oscar (and David when he returns) have a deep knowledge of the game and do a great job of informing listeners in an entertaining way. Can’t recommend highly enough for any Niners fan.

Best 49er podcast by far. Great data and analysis, very fun. I wait for it all week and it’s the only source for heavy data driven commentary that goes beyond the mainstream BS. I’m asking for at LEAST 2 a week, even in the off season! I love it! I need it. Oscar, you ARE the king of NFL shows. ❤️👍

I’ve listened to this podcast for years, but I’m now unsubscribing. Oscar thinks kneeling or throwing up fists for the National Anthem is just great. Oscar is helping to fan the flames of division, which we really don’t need more of in this country.

Has helped me to reevaluate how I actually watch and diagnose football. Very educational, introducing different metrics which I had no idea existed, and at the same time still holds my attention from week to week! Great job guys

The guys go into depth and I love the fact they go into sycametics of the game. Very smart when it comes to insight on the teams personnel decisions.

These guys take the time to really break down the game and apply to the 49ers. Wish I could listen to them everyday. Go Niners!

This is the best 49ers podcast ive listened to, they usually come with good information. That being said, the bar isnt very high. Not a fan of the humor, smugness, or hosts cracking beers into the mics.

By far the best 49ers pod. First think I listen to Thursday mornings.

It’s refreshing to get info on schematics, and how that relates to current coaches/players...without taking themselves too seriously.

Agree to disagree. Pass rusher FAR more important than CB. Can’t hide from a great pass rusher, you can avoid a great CB. Schematically you can always do things but as fundamental point Aaron Donald or Von Miller >>> jalen Ramsay or lattimore

I think I'm pretty knowledgeable about the game, after being a football fan for 40-plus years, but I learn something new in every podcast. My only suggestion: get some female perspective on the show. There are a lot of women fans out there, and we know the game!

Cogent, informative discussion with points supported by researched data vs the usual stream of consciousness emotional ranting one gets nowadays. That they clearly articulate their reasoning and provide background context to their facts really helps to educate the audience. There is also an entertaining sprinkling of humor, both juvenile and clever. Definitely a quality subscription for me!

Super well organized and detailed orientated show! Wish they made more episodes per week!!
