Dad GooseIt’s nice to see the hosts of reply all try and struggle, then graduate to a better podcast. It’s nice to see the hosts of reply all try and struggle, then graduate to a better podcast. Good, but the hosts can do better (and they do)
-
KevbgoolsbyHosts moved to "reply all"Original hosts were great, the later hosts energy wasn't right... sorry this feed died, but yeah search reply all.
-
Muno11Good podcastThis is a good podcast but reply all is better because it gets more in depth and you get more of the story. I sort of get that these short burst is for the internet generation with low attention spans. But that’s what makes PJ and Alex so great, whether it’s the short TLDR or longer reply all, they are able to report on these human stories that are really interesting. I like the more in depth of really deep dives but I think there is more closure with TLDR, kind of like a disappearing Snapchat.
-
NullityFantastic too bad it’s goneI really lived this pod. Such a shame it disappeared. Reply All is good but just not the same. Bye TLDR, you are missed.

BenerinoA tale of two podcastsThe first 36 or so episodes were fantastic! PJ and Alex were wonderful hosts. The problem with there episodes was I wanted them to be longer. And that’s what there other podcast, ReplyAll, is. TLDR with PJ and Alex deserves 5 Stars. Meredith ruined TLDR. Her first couple episodes were fine. After that, I just wanted it to end. Episode 43, “Hey Ladies”, was super annoying but I gave it a pass and gave her another chance. Episode 46, “Episode 45 Redux”, was when I knew for sure I didn’t like TLDR with Meredith. Vivek came off annoying in the episode but Meredith was absolutely horrible. All the TLDR episodes with Meredith should be deleted so it doesn’t continue to ruin what was once a fantastic show. TLDR with Meredith deserves 0 stars.

podcastlistener111Great showI really loved this podcast when it was hosted by Alex and PJ. Also liked it under Meredith. Hope it comes back!

Slayner117Good podcast, with interesting storiesIf you're like me you may have discovered this podcast after Reply All, which is Alex and PJ's newer podcast on the Gimlet network. If you HAVEN'T heard Reply All however, I would definitely check that out immediately. TLDR was a fine podcast, but it evolved into something significantly better. All in all this was a fun podcast, the stories were fun, and like the title itself they were kept short and to the point.

bobby BoShayGreat show! Want more!Great show, the original host have moved on to" reply all “ but still very much worth the time. Show" #46 - Episode 45 Redux “ looked to be a death blow but i really wish it was still on. The show gets a slight different focus when the new host takes over but I think the host does a great job and reports on real Tech issue and not just tech interests.
-
pecanswissGreat stuffI really enjoy listening!
-
hatchjtWhere did you go?I miss TLDR. It’s what kept me in touch with what’s happening with the internet world. Bring it back!
-
keith687Listen to the first 40 episodes and then stopThe show was great before the original hosts left to do Replay All, and sadly the show has gone downhill fast since then. Now the episodes have taken on a more preachy gender-focused tone instead of a "here's this interesting thing in tech" tone. The first 40 episodes are great, but unless you're a SJW type I'd stop after that.

rainster212Wadwah the mansplainerAlthough the show did lose some of its magic after Alex and PJ left, the last two episodes with Meredith were getting back on track! It’s too bad that this segment seems to be cancelled. Even though it’s a year later, I am still disgusted by Wadhwa’s response in Episode 45. Yes, it was wrong for them not to ask him for an interview, but they more than compensated him by allowing him 20 minutes of unedited airtime to present himself in a favorable light. Instead he became a mouthpiece spewing condescending, aggressive remarks about women not understanding journalism and refusing to have any conversation with Meredith about anything other than how much his feelings were hurt. As he complained about being a spokesperson for women, he talked right over the woman in front of him, repeatedly. She was amazingly poised in the situation, and the undertones of anger in her voice were justified. Having already been publicly shamed by her producer, which was a questionable decision by NPR, she had to be verbally pushed around by an intensely patronizing man who refused to have any sort of meaningful conversation that wasn’t about his wounded sense of pride. The only positive thing he said about women in media is that some of them had said positive things about him. Ironically, he proves the negative comments about him true in this interview in which he could have defended himself. To him, it seemed, the fact that he’d given a lot of his money to women’s groups exempted him from having any real conversation about the issue. Wow. I feel bad for his colleagues and students, if he’s like this all the time. Meredith, I’m sorry you had to sit through that!
-
wingiloteBring back TLDRGreat with PJ and Alex, great with Meredith. Okay, Hey Ladies was too much. But still, TLDR with Meredith was a perfect ten minutes of Internet news and culture. Bring it back WNYC!
-
shanlynBrooke Gladstone is annoyingThanks for ruining my binging of your (previously) great podcast. before AND after the show plugs? way to take advantage of RA's shout out.
-
lnwWacky activism disguised as journalism (see EP. 45)I subscribed to TLDR after learning about the show on Reply All. I just listened to Episode #45 and I am shocked. I’m confident the feedback for this episode has been vitriolic and I have no wish to add to the maelstrom, so I'll just go ahead and unsubscribe. Bye.
-
Fjdjdjjd665~>£>£€Bad kinda feministListened to a few episodes and was decent, until the issue with the Wadwa 'interview' and slander issues, host was childish and only wanted to try and clear her name, not talk about actual issues
-
GuySmiley8UnsubscribedLike many commenters, I used to enjoy this podcast. Sure, it has changed quite a bit, sometimes with a change of host. Episode 46 is when I unsubscribed. It's great to take on weightier issues at the intersection of culture and technology, but episode 46 was when they admitted, without contrition, that they don't know how to do that and then embarrassed themselves with a disaster of a follow up. There are so many similar podcasts, I don't have the time to see where this is headed next.

nathangsm5 StarsI like this podcast enough to rate and review it on iTunes, even though I don't use iTunes. That's how much I like it.

Sir_SalemSadly, it's lost it's magicFirst off, go download Reply All. It's what the original hosts of the show are doing now. Sadly, the new host and direction of TLDR has nothing to do with the original concept of the show. For that alone this gets 1 star. It just totally went in a different direction and not one I personally want to listen to, but it seems like the show might have ended now. It's been a while since a new episode was released. Honestly, it's probably for the best this podcast fades away. Nothing against the new host, but it's a different show now.
-
Cori LinThis show took a drastic turn andI didn't hate it because compelling, innovative conversations can be held by and be about women!!! Anyway I support this show and think it's very interesting.
-
makewenBetter under old hostsThis show went downhill immediately when the old hosts left. They now do "Reply All." It's like the old TLDR, and much better.

jpgillamSubscribeI subscribe to this podcast.

AliFliLowers the bar for journalistThe first hosts were original and interesting. I gave the new host a solid chance to be her own thing or continue what the boys were doing but ... Bad is bad. There is currently nothing of value and furthermore to be an offshoot of On The Media...sigh... Journalistic integrity took a nose dive and was replaced by an editorializing host that seems to have forgotten about due diligence and the underground informative feel that made this show unique. If another host comes along I will give them a chance. But currently as is ... This show ... Well I would rather listen to the ticking of the clock on my wall -- than get viscerally angry at this low brow voice in the box.
-
zane394WNYC, what are you thinking?Like others, I would suggest following the original hosts over to Reply All. I’m very surprised WNYC would hire a host this unsophisticated. It sounds like she’s someone’s assistant who got the gig because no one else was around at the time. I would recommend they recast with someone more experienced.
-
J in Jersey CityLOVED the new host....what happened?I thought this show was outstanding, and the move to a feminist-oriented set of questions and stories was welcome and compelling. The level of conversation was high, and I learned from most of the pieces. I really hope Meredith comes back.
-
Standard PatrickBring back Alex and PJ!With wide-eyed fascintation, PJ Vogt and Alex Goldman used to spin amazing stories about internet culture. After being replace by Meredith Haggerty, these moments of brilliance are more often overshadowed by slow moving tales of internet lore or tiring lists of internet minutia -- like terrible Tindr pickup lines (Buzzfeed says you can keep that one). TLDR seems to be missing the serious topics to match how seriously it now takes iteslf.
-
antijesseIt's amazingMeredith took a little while to make it her own but she figured it out. It's amazing. Keep it up.

EarthAmberThe New Female Host Doesn't Frighten Me; Grow UpI tend to listen to Podcasts of this nature in a hey-that-looks-interesting, skipping-around fashion. So I actually had no idea they straight-up switched hosts. I figured they had a couple different hosts, thought no more of it, and enjoyed the podcast. Not until I came here, to leave a good review, did I realize it's a permanent change. I'm disappointed in how the change of the gender of the host has swayed so many listeners. The quality is the same, the stories are fun and engaging, and sometimes very real. Recommended to my husband, who loves it as well. Thanks, TLDR.

brianna90210New host isn't goodThis show tanked very suddenly. The new host is terrible!
-
dandelyonsNot Personally a Fan of the New DirectionYeah, I understand that with new leadership comes a new artistical direction, but what I liked most about TLDR was that it was spontaneous and *fun*, I’m a little sick of hearing about gender issues in every episode, and everything just seems so…negative. Puts a damper on my mood, but this is just my taste in podcasts, and TLDR no longer satisfies like it used to...
-
andrew.conklingGreat look at internet culturesDifferent than it used to be with Alex & PJ as hosts, but Meredith brings a fresh voice and some really interesting stories. I'm glad On The Media is continuing the show.
-
Zelda6417Not as good as it was...Since the hosting change, the podcast has lost its luster. No longer overtly about "the Internet" and interesting things surrounding it, the new direction that focuses on odd topics (often now with some gender or social angle) that kinda-sorta-maybe involves the Internet and online culture just does lead to the same fun that Alex and PJ originally brought. Meredith and her choice of topics have largely fallen flat for me. Honestly, I think she's fine at what she does, but on this podcast, with these sort of topics, Alex and PJ just did/do it better.
-
JaredisfofvidgkfcdUnfortunateI was really excited to see where this podcast would go with the new host. Unfortunately since the change I have only enjoyed one episode most of the episodes have to do with women issues, which is fine if it was a woman's issue themed podcast. however seems that The host is shoehorning women's issues into a podcast aiming to be about technology and the Internet. I get a slightly sexist vibe from the host. (Not feminist sexist) The big difference there is important. Don't get me wrong I hate "men's rights" people as much as the next guy or gal looking for a good podcast about human interest story's as they relate to the Internet. Either way this would all be forgivable if any of the stories were actually enjoyable to listen to. If they change the title to feminism 101 I still would not like the stories.
-
skeptical.skepticFrom good start to truly awful. I'm goneThe original hosts were quite good with good topics. The new hosts -- not so much. They had one or two interesting reports, then came the "Astrology" episode. Seriously??? Then one or two decent episodes. But now "Magic Spells"????????? Come off of it. Seriously, seriously awful. I'm gone.
-
#bppLost It's WayI subscribed to this podcast a while back with the original hosts. Since the transition, the episodes have been a shade of what I originally signed up for. I end almost all new episodes thinking I wasted 10 minutes. I was hoping that the kinks would be worked out in the first few weeks, but the direction the content is going toward doesn't interest me at all.
-
WingywangyWas good, now badWhen this show originally debuted, it was fun and covered familiar internet phenomenon in depth you don't normally find on the net. Now it's a bunch of credulous pseudoscience, woo, and tumblrina-brand feminism. It's just not good. I'll probably check it out the next time Brooke or Bob recommend it and hope the show has taken a different route.
-
YeargdribbleA fall from graceI've been trying hard to give the new host, Meredith, the benefit of the doubt. I know it must be difficult to pick up the reigns as she did. But it has been a complete shift in tone. I don't mind topics on women's issues, but there is a fairly clear bias which I tried to muscle through. Then there are the topics being credulous of magic and horoscopes which are absurd. I'll try back in the future but I've had to finally unsubscribe. It's worth checking out the new show of the original hosts, Reply All, and the podcast Start Up which lead to them being poached away. It's also worth listening to the rest of the fantastic WNYC podcasts, but this one has run off the rails. I do wish Meredith luck in perhaps turning it around as I'd love to come back.

tozacUsed to be great, now terribleThe new host is just the worst. Listen to Reply All instead, it's better in every way.
-
Mitch SevierSomething ChangedThe original hosts of the show I found interesting, topics were good and the conversations of lively. They moved on and the magic is gone now. Is it just a guy thing? Maybe, but the topics seem to have taken a Cosmo turn so I’m un-subscibing. Little disappointed but I’m sure there is an audience out there for the new format.

SarahahahaaaListen to Reply All instead. This show should end. For almost 40 episodes, it was really great, but then the hosts left to start an even better podcast, Reply All. And where there were once unique stories with narrative arcs that drove at larger ideas, what we got instead was recitations of articles that the new host read that week. And then came the infamous and deleted episode 45, where the host let a ton of innuendo and factually incorrect information pass over the air unchecked, and contributed a bit of her own. And if anyone thinks that was anything other than a hit piece, look no further than merediths own Twitter feed where she promoted it by saying "It's about to be the weekend so relax, indulge, treat yourself: laugh at a man." It's shocking that both she and her editor weren't canned for that debacle. Anyhow, skip this garbage show and listen to reply all instead.

spacesurfer9Boring podcast and bad for women in techThis show really went down hill. Firstly the episodes are just boring now. Secondly the host has really done a huge disservice to the cause of women in technology by making the conversation that much more difficult to have because of they way she attacked Mr. Wadhwa.
-
RaoulRiPhoneSadly this podcast is now uninterestingWhat a shame. I feel the new host is trying hard but there is no hook or edge anymore, no story even, nothing to keep me listening. I rarely stop a podcast half way through, but now I do. I would root for it to continue, but the fact that the new hosts take astrology seriously is a big mark against them, alas.

Another Meredith in this worldDisappointingJust heard the episode redux with Vivek Wadhwa and I'm appalled by how poorly this was handled. Meredith was rude and unapologetic. The manager sheepishly admitted that they were "in a bubble" for the original story. That kills all credibility for this show. This episode demonstrated cruel and unprofessional behavior towards its guest. Much lower than the standard of what I expect from a Brooke Gladstone program.
-
DarthTrey6Great!I resubscribed after I heard #46 redux episode. The professionalism that Metedith showed during the interview encouraged me to give the show another chance. The show hasn't lost any of its brilliance in the time I stopped listening to it.

Josh 9885Bad journalism, abrasive hostWhile the concept of TLDR is great, the execution is horrible. The host resorts to ad hominem attacks and doesn’t even check sources. It’s bad journalism. Also, very little is original or interesting. It is painful to listen to, especially the last few episodes. I expect far better from WNYC, especially a show with the backing of On The Media, which is amazing. I recommend Reply All instead, along with Invisibilia.
-
MizYvetteFun!Fun bit of ear candy. Liked it with the former hosts, like it now with the women hosting. Not what I consider "feminist" programming -- any more than mommy blogs or Amy Schumer -- but I guess many listeners are more accustomed to a man's viewpoint being front and center. Hope it continues!
-
rosephasenew directionI love the new direction of this podcast. I haven't found a podcast that looks at the internet from a feminist view point. Great job! And great job not punching that Wadhwa guy in the face.
-
SevenCentNow terribleThe show went from one of my favorites to unlistenable. The new host is unprofessional and just not very good.
-
GladysWHost is biased and unprofessionalSee the TLDR website for a dialogue on episodes #45-46. This host is totally biased in her interview techniques, and extremely unprofessional. While the parent podcast (On The Media) is still worth listening to, I can no longer waste my time on this podcast.
-
CurtisBanzhafNew host- sinking shipI wanted to get behind the new hosts but find that the podcast has missed its mark on every episode since. Why waste my time? Unsubscribe.
