JP in LVWonderful Story!I hadn't heard of Mr. Cottonwood until just recently, and downloaded Babcock after hearing a positive review. I wasn't disappointed. Mostly read by the author, he included a few other voices as well. Listening through, I felt like I was sitting in someone's living room after dinner, hearing Mr. Cottonwood and a few of his friends tell a true story. Babcock isn't too long and it's full of little lessons for younger listeners, and probably a few reminders for older ones. Overall, I think the story is very useful for a young listener to learn how specific interests and events in life always fit into a broader context. Wonderful and believable.

Scott "Capt. Eucalyptus" RocheA Must ListenProduction: Excellent audio quality. A great use of music that was apparently composed just for the book. Grade: A Cast: Solid voice acting on the part of all involved. Joe does a few of the voices himself as well as the narration. Grade: B Story: Like I said up front, this isn’t usually my literary cuppa tea. Still I’m glad I took the leap. It’s well crafted, touching, engaging, and hits every note. Grade: A Verdict: I will definitely be seeking out the rest of his works. I’ll probably even get my twelve year old to listen. There are one or two instances of strong words, but given the circumstances in the story I don’t have a problem with that. Grade: A

Lizzy'sMomExtremely talentedJoe Cottonwood writes delightful, engaging stories. I've listened to "Clearheart" and now "Babcock." I agree with a previous reviewer that Joe's reading of his own work is warm and engaging. I find myself deeply caring about Babcock and loving the way Joe gets into the heads of these teenagers. I hope he finds a wide audience not only here but being published widely. He certainly has the talent and his stories should be shared widely.

TxTiket2Ride2fantastic workExcellent story and one that would be good made into a televised series; perhaps the author should think about it.

Vrai ChevalierWonderfulThis is the second podcast story by Joe Cottonwood which I have listened to, "Clear Heart" being the first. Babcock is a wonderful story rife with angst, desire, and joy which all listeners can relate to. Babcock will elicit a smile as you listen and recall your own life experiences. I listen to a great many podcasts including novels and Babcock is one of the best. Excellent audio quality and production. The narration is warm and friendly with an easy cadence. I will encourage all my friends and family to listen to Babcock.
