hickstcThe podcast that got me started with afterbuzzI first started listening to afterbuzz after needing to find more in depth analysis of true detective season one and have been an addict ever since. I have to say this season has made me ponder but after this episode I can say that if you strip away the much used environment of California this season is really as good as last. When I look back on season one I do remember getting completely absorbed in the never ending talk of flat circles and carcosa, but when I got down to it, it was only in episode seven that the spaghetti monster was revealed and episode 8 that we got to see inside the world that propelled these two detectives. Even going back to the HBO inside interviews with both pizzilato and fukanawa they both agree that more important than the mystery is the arc of our two protagonists. This is the same journey we are taking with the protagonists this season. I am sticking with joe braswell in waiting to pleasantly being surprised. As far as this seasons mystery I was looking on Google and found an article about the possibility that the bigger bad is a play on the bohemian grove which is said to be a society for affluent men of the arts to share their ideas, that just so happens to be in California. Thanks for all the work you guys do on the show!!!

EarlyBirdATLWASTE OF TIME (Zero Stars)If you want to waste an hour of your life that you will never get back feel free to listen to AfterBuzz's True Detective podcast. This podcast offers zero insight to the show with no attempt to breakdown the story for a better understanding. Instead, it offers superficial nonsense about the actors and ridiculous predictions and theories about what MIGHT happen in the show. It truly upsets me so much to the point that I struggle to sleep at night to think that this show is even in existence and action should be taken to remove it from iTunes immediately. The people of AfterBuzz too should struggle to sleep at night knowing that they are a show filled with liars and cheats who false advertise to true fans of a great show who simply want to have a better understanding of an excellent TV series.

Kev YPlease talk about the EpisideFor the most part, I imagine most of your audience does not tune in to hear your opinions on whether you particularly like the show or not. They want to hear you talk about the key points in the episode and how it affects the overarching plot. This is the worst after buzz show I've tried so far.

DandormixJoe MumblesHow is Joe Mumbles a host of a podcast, he can barely understanding anything he says. Blub, Blub, Blub, Blub, Blub,I’m Joe!

Bgdave39AwfulToo much cheerleading and not enough TD analysis. I found the podcast, Too True Detective, and it gave me much more what I wanted.

willf05Agree with other critiquesI like True Detective and Season 1 ABTV podcast did a great job of really diving into each episode, characters, themes, production value all of it. Episode one with Just Julia and another speaker i can't remember the name. but the last 2 ABTV episodes have just gone on and on on either how great the show is or how the show won't live up to season 1. Joe Brasswell isn't leading the panel well. We get caught up listening for 5-10 minutes on things aren't directly pertaining to the story. Please let Julia and Joe Flip talk more. Too many bad jokes not enough talking about awesome parts of the TV show they are reviewing. Im only hanging on for one more podcast if it doesn't pull it together.

Bobby WG.Too far away from the microphoneJoe Braswell needs to speak into the mic on this latest show. Annoying when one person is on the mic and the other one is way off it. Otherwise the show sounds nice enough.

Linkz0303Time to binge watch and binge PodWOW!! Im always the late guy to a TV Show! Ive finally started True Detective, watched first episode and i hooked, so i will watch one and then afterbuzz and repeat that process the next week! Afterbuzz is the best out there for making the show your watching even better by listening to interesting points they bring up in every episode! " then ask the right questions! " BOOM!!!
-
MG HammerPretty goodPretty good insight and discussion. The jokes rarely land though.

GiancarloG12Constructive Criticism for one.Love the podcast. One of the best I've heard and helped me get through the show. But I almost killed myself every time Joseph Braswell (forgive the possible misspell of the last nice) confused the two main characters. I feel as if you're going to do this show, be proficient, if not for you, for us. There are about three or more confusions per episode, you do the math. Otherwise, an amazing show and really enjoyed it. Hope to hear more without any confusions.

MekanicumGreat discussion showI subscribed to this when I started watching True Detective and became ravenous for insight and I'm glad I did because all the episodes were uniformaly great. The only criticism I have is that the intro is REALLY annoying in my opinion, with one of the most gratingly stereotypical "announcer voices" I have heard in my life.

Beau FranklinTHE True Detective podcastMade the mistake of wasting an hour on a rival True Detective podcast that's put together by something called "The Truth Squad". It's basically two young ladies that are incapable of beginning a sentence without "Like..." and can't seem to grasp the bigger picture of True Detective because they're too busy trying to figure out "what's up with those swirly symbols?". Afterbuzz is THE podcast for True Detective. They did their homework on the subtle themes embedded in the show and the inspirations the writer & director drew from. Great job, guys.

MsDesl1980A M A Z I N GListening to your show made me understand each episode, so much more. Thanks for everything! Job well done. Deanna

Poppa eXoTied for 1stI swear I could listen to you all speak about anything. Ur one of my two fav host groups (funny how ur engineer is in the other host group). I hope the finale cashes in on all this artistic Capitol they have earned. Writer director are blue chips now. I hope next season gives a female Mathew M. a shot at redefining her career with insanely good material.

Big D 64Great Show Insights!Love the show and analysis.. Made me think of things that I missed.... Great comparison to King Arthur, Lancelot and Guinevere!

slowmotionriot. It's ok.Panel is nice enough, but for a crew who's expressed goal is to breakdown and analyze tv, there isn't a lot of analysis. Mostly a lot of "Wow! It's good" or "But, yeah, it's just great!" Also, details! For the first few episodes, the host kept referring to Brigid Moynihan's character who, while beautiful and talented, didn't make the leap from Blue Bloods. Or, when they kept referring to Geraci as "Sheriff Childress"... I mean, in a world where it's so hard to get audio content out quicker than print, I understand the rush, but you're a team of 5! Admittedly, I still listen each week hoping for interesting insights rather than cheerleading, and the analysis did get better the last 2 episodes. (One of the panel started taking bigger stabs and was doing his homework.) Hope the system is better the next time through (True Detective 2), because I know they all have the potential.

shinakuma8Best AfterBuzz TV team! You guys are the only AfterBuzz team that’s enjoyable to listen to so far. I love the insightful analysis mixed with a healthy dose of humorous bantering. The 4 of you have great chemistry with each other that the other podcasting teams are lacking. I’m almost tempted to hate watch the following or the blacklist so I can listen to more of your stuff. I beg you, please pick up a better show after TD is over.

Mikevayne1Excellent!You guys do a great job and I Love the new format.

ThuppleFast and furious and fun! These folks love the show, and their enthusiasm is delightful. They are intelligent, funny and have great insight. No complaints whatsoever.
-
TuckmayawfulIts a bunch of people making the same point and saying the exact same things over and over and over and over. No real substance to any of the reviews or perspectives on the show. The woman on this podcast is a complete dummy. Does she even watch the show?

Monroe BExcellent PodcastGreat show and great podcast

Jeb_adiaheye opening but not mind blowingI agree that these buzzers need to to focus more on the plot, there's plenty there to dissect. I do enjoy the comments and the group often points out things I miss, but the post-episode 5 podcast where the one guy started talking about how future generations will be analyzing physicists theories about the 11 dimensions space and time and, uh, what? was that about the show? ITS A SHOW… stay on task please.

Who? Who?Great podcastGreat podcast
-
bilbobagginYou need to focusStop with the cinematography drivel, we get, we all get, it, it's great. There no denying the fact the directing, writing, and cinematography is wonderful, move on and focus on what is making this show as popular as it is...the depth of Cohle and Hart. Talk about The Yellow King, Carcosa, the spiral branding drawing on the daughters wall. Get deep, stop with the topical garbage. You are right, you guys do need more time to let the show settle, 20 minutes after the show ends doesn't do the podcast or the show justice.

Margin_Should be 20 mins, not 50I can appreciate a discussion about a great TV show. And I like the set up of a group of friends that all watched the show together sitting around a desk and talking about it. But this group of Afterbuzz hosts are such good friends that when they starting talking they lose focus and exclude the audience. There is very little actual discussion about the show and too much banter between the hosts. I find the discussions unfocused and running off the rails every other comment. About 30% of the discussion addresses the topic at hand. Also, they speak over each other too often and seem disorganized. Perhaps they should wait to have their discussion until the following morning instead of spending the first 15 minutes stating and re-stating that they are blown away and still trying to get their heads around what just happened... True Detective is an incredibly complex show which is breaking the mould of existing television formats. It deserves a proper discussion.

212CBSTrue DetectiveThese four don't have a clue about the south. I would love to let them out at a Talladega Race, while they were trying to talk over each other, some redneck would steal there their I-phone and shoulder bag.

Kcole3hpGreat InsightLook forward to this every Monday AM! Great work! Mark my words, Maggie's dad is involved in this somehow.

bobbyle0Please focus!I love listening to podcasts about my favorite TV shows and films. Since not a lot of people I know personally are as enthusiastic about this medium as I am, varying, insightful perspectives I find online serve me and my own interpretations on what I watch tremendously. With that being said, once I started to watch this show I was eager and excited to see what other people had to say about it. A show as emotionally rich and philosophically driven as this would be sure to strike up some really interesting conversations on existence, love, purpose, destiny, and all the infinite entities we as human beings struggle to understand. I am NOT trolling on the people on this show, I actually think they are insightful, perceptive people when they can actually buckle down and focus. They are constantly praising and gawking over the brilliance of the show (which I completely understand, I don't think people will realize how important this show is until long after it concludes). We get it, the show is masterfully written, gorgeously composed, and flawlessly acted. There is SO much more to talk about other than that, that's given. I find myself on the verge of shouting when the people on this show lose focus, begin clowning on each other and whatever else. Every minute or so, someone will speak up and say something important. The guy with the deep voice seems the most consistent. Maybe it's because they record right after watching the show, a show like this should be given a little more time to process, maybe even a second viewing would lift the quality of the podcast. The girl is especially irritating, she is pretty much fangirling over McConaughey the entire time. I'm not asking for further commentary on the world views Cohle and Hart have expressed, but I would like to know if anybody agrees with them or at least understands why some people feel that way. I share a lot of both of those character's sentiments and wonder if I'm the only one. There is a lot being suggested in this show, and I would just like a sharper, more focused podcast. And as much as you guys praise Nic Pizzolatto, you guys either didn't spot his cameo (he was the bartender in the titty bar) in "Who Goes There" or forgot to mention him. When you guys focus, the show is great, when you don't I feel like ripping out my headphones.

frazier street5 Stars for AllWho goes there was the best episode of True Detective moderated by the Best Afterbuzz Team! Love listening to you guys & you to Joe Flippo! Just Kidding JF! Once Again Great Stuff! P.S. I love The Blacklist recaps, too!

chim2dachimWhat’s the point?!?I dont understand the point of this show. I started listening to it for some in depth review of True Detective, to maybe glean some insights i may have glossed over. Unfortunately the first 15-20 min of these podcast is just pure cheerleading about how great the show is, leaving the actual structured parts of the podcasts feeling rushed and therefore almost uninformative and most certainly lackluster. I do like the structured parts of the podcast in fact if it was mostly that i would be happy to keep subscribing but unfortunately the hosts see this time as the perfect way to just ooh and aah about how great the show is and how hot “Matt” is. I would recommend the Detect This! podcast over this one, though it may be a bit less in production value the conversation is much more thought provoking and entertaining.
-
CrappenshereGood recapI think the recaps are good. I just wish they either had more time to talk about it or would talk about the cinematography less. I know this show is shot very different from other tv shows but if the podcast has to be less than an hour I wish they would focus on the plot more
-
Lazyass187Good ShowWorth your time if you're into the TV show. Adds texture and humor to their review of an extremely dark composition. The cast are great with one exception. Unfortunately the female reviewer is borderline horrible. The show suffers for it.
-
Pitt29Great group of hosts!!Listen to three podcasts these hosts are together on. Great insights. And like the fact they talk about all aspects of the show - writing, directing, etc. More than just a show recap
-
Captain W.T. HookVery fun listenI really like listening to this podcast after watching new episodes of True Detective. Everyone discussing the show is really into the show and they offer quality insights and analyses. Their fun and friendly conversation also makes it an easy listen apart from their commentary on the show itself. The one complaint I can halfheartedly muster is that everyone on the podcast gushes about how great the show is in every way. While I love True Detective, it would make for a better podcast to hear just a touch of criticism here and there amid the lovefest.
