    This is a great listen!
These episodes are so engaging and thoughtful. The host asks great questions and the composers give detailed descriptions of the process for writing a film score, working with different directors, and all of the minutia of film music that I had no idea about. Please keep making these! Once I found this podcast I flew through all the episodes in a couple of weeks!

    This Is My Jam
I am a composer and arranger (at least that’s how I identify myself–I teach at a University for a living). I LOVE this podcast. Hearing people discuss their craft, creating some of the best film music the business has heard, in Disney films. I feel Disney as an organization, has a lot at stake, from their history, to get the music right. Not settling for the usual tropes of film scoring. It’s so inspiring. Love hearing about the recording sessions, as I have my own stories, so I can relate to them a lot. I was so sad when season 2 ended, and wondered when it was ever going to continue (there was that COVID thing), so long I had lost track. Then I happened upon the podcast and saw there were new episodes. Yay! I binged all the latest, which did not disappoint, now awaiting those to come. Please don’t stop doing these.

    Very interesting
I never studied music(beyond 3 years of piano and HS band)but I love hearing about creating music. First it gives me a better appreciation of the music scores and how they affect how we feel during a movie and second it fills me with awe as to the talent of everyone who pursues this craft.

    A Peak Into Composers’ Minds
Jon Burlingame, host and film music professor at USC, does an incredible job asking thought-provoking questions that helps listeners peak into the minds of some of Hollywood’s greatest living composers. Interview topics are well-researched, and Professor Burlingame never interrupts the composers, allowing them to speak freely about their projects. Sound editing is expertly blended as well, with clips from pieces being discussed in the interview gently fading in and out for the listener. Simply put - this is the best musical podcast out there. Don’t miss it!

    Amazing & Magical Podcast
As a musician, composer, & huge Disney fan, this podcast is the one I’ve been waiting for. The questions & answers are insightful, and paint a picture into the process of how Disney film composers develop a score & what inspires them. I love the backstories as well. Outstanding.
I’ve been going through podcasts focusing on film score, composing, etc... and this one, I’ll listen to over and over. The guests are not just incredible in their craft, but also just incredible human beings. But Jon...you are a phenomenal host and interviewer. You engage but don’t dominate. You lead and know when to let them just talk. And there is such a kindness and as well deep knowledge in your voice. You take us on a journey every time. I’ve never enjoyed listening to someone as much as I do you. Thank You so much for doing this podcast, eager for each new episode 🎉❤️

    For Score Rocks
I feel like I’ve attended a prestigious university with a master class in film scoring. With the pandemic rushing back in at an awful pace, For Score has been a way to breathe again and stimulate my brain. I’m completed listening to all episodes and heard Pinar mention Rachel Portman. I would love to hear Rachel speak in one of the episodes. Please continue your fabulous work Mr. Burlingame!

    Love this podcast
This podcast is such an insightful look into film music. Really enjoyed listening to some of the top film composers talk about how they write for film. I’m a Band Director and I even used some of the podcast for my class to show them about how a composer writes for film. I want more episodes. Thank you for a great show.

    Coming into the industry
I am a very young inexperienced composer/arranger and I have found this very useful for my pieces. I would like to thank the host, creators, and composers for your help with inspiring me to do more.

    Don’t miss this podcast
I am an arranger/orchestrator, and this podcast is so inspiring to me. It’s wonderful hearing the origins of these beautiful scores, from sweating over a motif for a larger work to the final product. I have laughed and cried listening to the composers, but mainly I have found a connection to them and found myself not alone. I wait impatiently for each episode. The John Debney episode is a must-hear. Thank you for your podcast!!

    Soaring Scores!
This is a great podcast for anyone who loves listening to movie scores. We get an inside view of the process of composing and arranging movie score music, and the thought process behind some of the most iconic pieces we know today. Even if you don’t recognize the composer’s names, their music plays throughout the interview, so you might know them more by their musical works.

As a lover of film and film music, I can’t say enough about how wonderful this podcast is. It’s smart, specific, filled with perfectly chosen score examples, and has a superb host in Jon Burlingame. His deep knowledge of film music has made his books and newspaper articles the best writing on this topic; now, to pair him with top composers, on a beautifully produced podcast, is a dream come to true. Bravo!

    Fantastic Spotlight on Film Scores
After listening to the release of the first few episodes, I can tell that I will continue to enjoy this podcast very much as they release more later this year. I’ve loved film scores for a long time and I am grateful for the opportunity to get great interviews like this. Content like this used to be relegated to DVD bonus features or a 2 minute YouTube clip somewhere, but these are great content and high quality production. Anything like this that sheds the light on the importance and art of what these men and women do with music and sound in movies and television is to be celebrated! Another commenter said this was just a knock off of Score: The Podcast. While I have loved Score the Documentary and the Podcast (and would also recommend that podcast to everyone who enjoys this), I would just remind people that there can be two great podcasts on the the same topics. It’s not a zero-sum game. One doesn’t have to be garbage for the other one to be good. These composers have enough to talk about that no two interviews won’t be the same. At this point, I would think the composers would love every new opportunity and platform they get to talk about their craft. And they say imitation is the more sincere form or flattery, so hats off, Gentlemen from Score.
