I only discovered Hot Take shortly before it ended, so I’m thrilled to have a similar podcast back in this feed. Amy’s reporting and her analysis and presentation of other people’s work is excellent and makes me feel less insane. Thanks for everything you do, guys!

The only energy/climate podcast that speaks truth to power. These women deserve support and a voice. Their message exposes truth no one will talk about. To crooked media, cancelling the show is easy; keeping it going may be challenging. Rise to the challenge.

Wonderful in-depth information including climate justice information. It’s so impressive! Plus I like that there are links to organizations to donate to sometimes that they have checked out. Very helpful. I share the emotions of the presenters a lot but I’m also finding it a show that supports hopefulness.

Would’ve liked to hear an interview with what should’ve been a very knowledgeable guest by less ideological journalists. No pushback or in depth analysis. Just ppl who agree on a few overarching ideas talking.

This show goes deep into structural issues that are not getting the spotlight (and need it). One of the best shows out here on environmental issues.

Easily my favorite of all the climate podcasts I’ve listened to…and I’ve listened to a lot. I so appreciate Amy’s and Mary’s deep dives into important and timely climate topics and the inclusion of a climate justice angle that other podcasts often leave out or cover only superficially. Delivered always with more than a little bit of sass and zero love — nay, negative love — for fossil fuel companies and their allies. I’m here for it, all in. Thank you Amy and Mary!!

1. Funny 2. Awesome, super-smart, hosts 3. Top-notch guests 4. You’ll probably learn something 5. It’s only weekly As the climate’s getting messed up you’ll need some humor to get through it. This show will help. Plus the guests! It’s kind of like the Avengers of climate podcasts, some weeks.

Too many F bombs, too much ranting about what democrats aren’t doing. (You prefer Republicans?) Too little understanding of the political process. Just not helpful.

My favorite content from Crooked media in a long time. The hosts conversationally move through some challenging topics, and are always well prepared. I tend to approach this topic more from the science and technology side of things, so I much appreciate their insights into the more human sides of the issue. Adam

I love love love this podcast. It’s like they have done the devastating processing of this horrible situation we are all living through so that the rest of us just get the humorous and thoughtful bits. Could I wallow in the sadness and density of the climate crisis with some technical melancholy content full of inertia? Yeah, sure… I do it all the time. But Hot Take offers an alternative way of keeping you informed on climate, while making you laugh and think with momentum and hope.

The actual dialogue and treatment of very serious issues are very good, but the frequent laughter, sometimes seeming forced, while discussing problems that adversely impact all of us, is unnerving and seems inappropriate.

Embarrassed to say I didn’t listen til the Crooked connection, but have followed Amy and Mary on Twitter and love them even more on the podcast. They are experts with the facts and the wit and humor to make discussions around climate and the environment accessible.

This show keeps me sane! Thanks to these two awesome women for making me think and laugh. Can’t say enough good things about this show.

This is an essential podcast. As is the Hot Take newsletter. Mary and Amy are outstanding journalists & bring nuance to every conversation. They keep it real & accessible. If you don’t like cussing this ain’t for you. But if you want more comedy in your climate analysis tune in.

Thanks for holding all the complexities of modern day America in one hand while also making me lol. To be able to keep it real and keep it cute is an accomplishment of the highest order. Listen!

I have a desire to learn more about the climate crisis, and when looking for podcasts - I really didn’t know where to start. I already love Crooked Media and when I saw this podcast, I got really excited! The hosts are hilarious, intelligent, and insightful. It’s like I’m having a drink with them and just listening in as they discuss the climate. I love it!

Informative both for the experienced climate observer and those new to the issue. Covers important issues in an interesting way.

Man I cant stress enough how Amy and Mary have shaped my thinking on the climate crisis. Their shows are always nuanced and enlightening. Definitely the best climate show out there and its not close. I appreciate what they’re doing and all the hard work they put in.

I binged the show and I’m sad that there aren’t any new episodes. The hosts are great and while the topic may make me sad, there’s always a theme of hope that helps.

Finally caught up on the entire backlist of episodes this week and am so glad I found this podcast! Mary and Amy are such fun hosts who also know their stuff on climate and discuss important issues in an accessible way! I look forward to every new episode and the new insights it will bring me!

I love the hosts of Hot Take, Amy Westervelt and Mary Annaïse Hegler — & their guests! These episodes are thoughtful, insightful, creative and critically important to life. I love the laughter, as a way to deal with how absurd some things are, & then what strikes the hosts as just funny. That’s the joy in the climate movement that I’m looking for. I am an ecologist and climate scientist, and I recommend this podcast and other Critical Frequency podcasts to everyone I talk to. I love the premise of “how we’re talking or not talking about climate,” when it’s clear that an effective way to reach climate solutions is to talk about climate and those solutions. Grateful for Hot Take and being a hot cake!

Do you ever feel lost after doing a deep dive into the internet/climate change space, trying to understand or discover or learn. Mary and Amy are the light at the end of the rabbit hole or sometimes inside of the rabbit hole. This podcast is engaging intriguing and honest. I finally caught up with all the episodes! What a stellar podcast. I love Hot Take for both keeping me informed on climate, but also for the excellent banter between Mary and Amy that makes me smile.

These women are great to listen to- so refreshing to hear female voices in the climate and oil money conversation. All brilliant and we need more of them!!

Dad joke warning! 😏 For real. These women have truly got a handle on the nuances of how we got here. They rightly focus on racism in the climate emergency and the spectrum ramifications. They help listeners remember that a just transition to a sustainable planet means acknowledging and treating the grief and trauma. I love the discussion of reparations (including adaptation and mitigation) for the globe’s most affected people. There’s a path forward if Mary and Amy will be leading the way.
