    Great aviation podcast!
Each episode is a mini-oral history with all sorts of tidbits of info on life and flying. Even when I know the person being interviewed, I learn something new. There are so many facets to aviation beyond the airlines, and George Nolly uses his polished interviewing skills to open up the world to listeners. One of my favorites subscriptions!

RFT 480: Helicopter pilot/Author Larry Freeland
Thanks for the opportunity to talk with you about my new novel “Chariots in the Sky” and share with your listeners some of my remembrances of my Vietnam flying days. Your podcast and interviewing skills are very professional. They make your guest feel totally comfortable and open to sharing with you their experiences. I was a fan of Larry King live and always thought he did a terrific job of interviewing his guest. Your style and technique reminded me of him. Thanks for the experience, and I’ll be checking in on your future podcast. Larry

RFT 480: Helicopter Pilot/Author Larry Freeland “Chariots in the Sky”
Dr. George Nolly, I was referred to your podcast by a friend and found my first episode 480—your interview with Larry Freeland on his book “Chariots in the Sky”—to be a memorable one. You interview with the author on both his experiences as a helicopter pilot at war in Vietnam and his personal life after returning home from Vietnam was excellent. I look forward to listening to more of your work. And, hopefully another one with Larry Freeland in the future.

Thank you Dr. George Nolly for the invitation to join you for a chat. And especially for hosting “Ready for Takeoff,” a most interesting and informative podcast! Allow me to say farewell with a Sanskrit proverb: “the wind sweeps the road clean.” I’ll reach out to update you on the two remaining bucket list items. Cheers, Linda

    Plain to Plane episode
Love this podcast series on all things aviation! I was honored to talk about my memoir, but it was also a wonderful and unexpected opportunity to learn about the lives and paths of almost 500 fellow aviators and their experiences. Capt Nolly asks the questions we all want to ask in a warm, friendly, engaging manner. Looking forward to listening to more episodes!

    Excellent and interesting
In an environment of podcasts lasting up to an hour or more and stuffed with fillers to address a topic, I really love these podcasts. They are short, precise, and to the point. Got a few minutes? Listen to any one of these podcasts and come away having learned something.

    SR-71 RSO Experiences
Capt Nolly was the consummate professional at getting out to the audience an interesting take on SR-71 operations. Feedback from friends and family members has been extremely flattering. They learned new things about the Air Force and the several of the aircraft mentioned like the C-130, F-4, F-111, and SR-71.

    Great listening!
I listen to RFTOP every time I'm on the road. As a contemporary of George, I also flew F-4s in Nam. The interviews with the old guys bring back many great memories. Then the youger generations have stories that are great too. One of the best programs was the interview with the women pilots. Wow! They had to overcome a lot of barriers and they have inspiring stories. Bottom line--they are all really well done and entertaining. Keep up the great work George.

    Informative and entertaining
Great aviation podcast. Love the single interview format and the broad range of interview subjects. Only suggestion would be to interview more people who came up through the civilian/general aviation ranks.
  • timberwolf34

    Great Podcast. Great Interviews.
"Ready For Takeoff" is a well produced and informative podcast for just about anyone interested in commercial, military, or general aviation. While I would definitely recommend this podcast to anyone looking forward to a career in the aviation industry, The show not focused solely on the commercial segment. Guests come from a wide range of military and civilian backgrounds, and the show covers a broad range of aviation interests. Captain Nolly is skilled interviewer with a laid-back, genial approach. He always seems to get interesting guests on the show, and has a knack for weaving each interview into a cohesive story rather than just a series of aviation anecdotes. This has, very quickly, become one of my favorite aviation podcasts.

    Outstanding aviation-related podcast
This is an excellent interview-based aviation podcast. Strongest on the experience of military aviators -- past and present -- but also solid coverage of commercial aviation. Nolly is a skilled interviewer and an extremely accomplished and seasoned military and civilian aviator in his own right.
  • Chicoartist
