WCI has laid the groundwork for my financial success
I was given a copy of the original White Coat Investor book by a co-resident back in 2018. I had always been interested in personal finance but that book opened up a whole new world to me. The entire WCI platform, from its website, forum, blog, and podcasts have truly contributed to my financial success and wellbeing. I started my first job as an attending with over $500,000 in student loan debt. With the principles espoused by Dr. Dahle, I was able to pay off all of my debt in a little over 3 years and have been working towards financial independence ever since. I assumed FI would allow me to retire early, but now I enjoy my job so much that I think FI will just allow me to continuing practicing until 65 on my own terms. Thank you Dr. Dahle and everyone at WCI for everything you have done and continue to do to make high-income health professionals thrive with personal finance! I truly do agree with you that we are better doctors when we have our financial house in order.

Should be required listening for all college students!!!
I found this podcast in 2024 and it has made me so much more confident in how to manage my finances. The relief from this stress has improved my quality of life immensely. Dr Dahle and crew are so thorough in their explanations, inspiring confidence in their recommendations. The guests bring wonderful thoughts, experiences and perspectives. I wish I had this information while I was in veterinary school (or even earlier!) - it would have made a huge difference. Thank you so much to Dr Dahle and the WCI team for helping so many of us every day! Honorable mentions: The recommended reading list (on website) has also been awesome (can find some titles on audiobooks). And the blog compliments the material in these episodes so well!

    Not reality based
I first listened the Surgeon and Engineer and you lost me when he admitted that they had no loans from graduate school because of help from their parents. Anyone who works for 12 years and has parents pay loans has the privilege to save.

    Incredible podcast
This podcast has been incredibly helpful in improving my financial literacy. I wish I had discovered it sooner—I would have made fewer mistakes, which could have translated into millions. I learn something new from every episode and even try to go back and catch up on earlier ones. Thank you for everything you do!

    Daddy’s money
While many of these episodes are indeed useful and relevant discussions on topics like employment contracts and responsible retirement planning, I have now encountered two episodes in as many weeks that fell short for the same reason. Both episodes were meant as inspirational success stories, but both showcase physicians who are debt-free and millionaires so soon only because (by their own admission) their parents paid for their medical training. Don’t get me wrong, it’s fine to acknowledge the help we all receive, and there’s nothing morally impeachable about these stories, but they represent a population that doesn’t actually overcome the single largest financial hurdle to new and aspiring physicians. Emphasizing these stories is counterproductive for the vast majority of those seeking advice from WCI and alienates potential listeners. We would like to hear from more individuals who have successfully used clever and innovative investment vehicles or budgeting strategies to pay off their loans AND build net worth quickly. Even if they don’t hit the million dollar milestone as early, the lessons they have learned are more relevant and useful to the target audience.

    Helped me get on track!
This podcast has a practical and pragmatic approach for high income professionals to become financially literate and achieve the financial goals they may not have even known they had. I appreciate that so much of what is discussed here is good sense for everyone- to live below your means and to make a plan for the future. The variety of people at many different stages of career brings a depth of perspective. I love appreciate growing my financial literacy while feeling connected to a larger community. Thanks for all you do!

    Awesome
Where was this when I was in college!!! This is a much needed resources, doctor or not, to get smart with money. I thank Dr. Dahle and his team for putting this together and writing his books. I have a much better grasp on money and the road to financial independence and I hope to continue growing this knowledge. Every resident and medical student needs to do this without exception!

It’s like advice from an old friend
I have been listening for a long time and Jim is the best in the business. After his return from his accident it was like hearing from an old friend. Glad to have you back!

    Trust worthy advice
Good to see trust worthy advice exists. Been following for a while now. Any conflicts of interest are clearly disclosed. You can get this advice elsewhere via books/blogs etc but it’s compiled in an easy to digest format so no need to scour the internet etc. Keep up the good work.

    Truly life changing
To have all of this knowledge available to me is life changing! My life, financial and social, will never be the same now that I have this knowledge. It will be a major player in my financial success! All of this inspired myself and a few others to start a finance interest group in medical school, got us published in academia, and now I’m grant funded developing personal finance curriculae for my medical school! Thank you so very much.

    Every day listener
I’m giving 5 stars. The WCI has helped me make choices that have enabled me to set myself up for long term success. That being said, worth mentioning that I sold my 2021 Nvidia shares for tax loss harvesting purposes and purchased sp500 instead after becoming a WCI disciple….as Jim would say, the crystal ball was a little cloudy unfortunately. All joking aside though, without WCI I wouldn’t be where I am today.

    Content is helpful but…
Every episode starts with ~10min of straight up advertising for products to solve all of your financial woes. Dr. Dahle’s hidden curriculum is a successful financial podcast hooks listeners and upsells them on more and more products for purchase. It sometimes feels like driving past a dozen trashy billboards to finally reach the exit you were looking for.

    Empowering Physicians
The White Coat Investor podcast, hosted by Dr. Dahle, stands out as a beacon of financial education for physicians, offering invaluable insights that has been as influential to my life as my actual medical education. With effortlessly delivered content and a lineup of knowledgeable guest speakers, the podcasts are not only informative but remarkably easy to listen to and enjoyable on my commute. Since turning in as a fellow in 2019, I’ve witnessed a remarkable growth in our net worth, surpassing $2 million in less than 5 years, a feat I attribute to the wisdom gleaned from WCI. Despite having delved into Dr. Dahle’s books, blog posts, and earlier podcasts, the newly released material continues to provide fresh prospectives and actionable advice, making it an indispensable resource for physicians navigating the world of personal finance.

Good podcast but too many MtoM segments
I have learned a tremendous amount from this podcast, especially that early episodes that focused on fundamental topics for financial literacy. Recently podcasts have focused more on the “milestones to millionaire segment, which I have not found as helpful and have stopped listening to.

    Thank you
I am so grateful for all this podcast has taught me. I’ve been listening since I was in residency about 5 years ago and the impact WCI and Dr. Dahle have made on my personal and financial life has been profound. Thank you for all you have done for my family and I!

    Life changing podcast
This podcast (and the corresponding Whitecoatinvestor book) has been easily the most influential podcast to my life and career of any I’ve heard. Strongly recommend for anyone who does not feel 100% comfortable with their finances

    Great podcast
WCI should be required reading & listening in medical school and residency. I started listening around 2016 and have listened to every episode since and have learned so much. I am now retired from medicine and still enjoy listening/reading and learning from both the WCI podcast and blog. Jim, thanks for the great work and helping us docs get our finances on track!

    Essential financial podcast
Dr. Jim Dahle has been looking out for docs for well over a decade. He provides evidence-based and influence-free advice in order to help docs get their finances in line. Absolutely essential listen.
  • grtsho
    Excellent and thorough
This podcast is an example of a motivated physician gaining substantial knowledge on a non-medical topic and sharing it with everyone. He is altruistic and thoroughly engaged in this material. I find when he lacks information on a topic he is not afraid to admit it and research it thoroughly to provide an accurate and actionable answer. His staff should be given significant credit for the success of this podcast as it clearly must take more effort than just one man can muster. A great combination for a podcast….knowledgable, altruistic host who surrounds himself with intelligent guests and a hard working staff. All….keep it up the great work!!

Dr. Dahle’s material is a must for all doctors
Becoming financially literate, and subsequently financially independent, is going to be very important if doctors are to ever take back control of medicine. Dr. Dahle is leading the charge with books, blog posts and a Podcast that are all very informative and entertaining. I wish I had come across his material earlier. His advice is honest, well-researched and practical. He may not ever brag about it, but I am certain he is making a major positive impact in the medical profession by helping doctors and other healthcare professionals become financially literate.

Used for all my financial planning, my only complaint:
I commute each day and as of Nov 2023 I’ve listened to all 340 episodes and find myself wishing there were more. Every major financial topic has been covered with a wonderful diversity from stocks to retirement to insurance to real estate, and he has numerous informative guests. Add to that, very easy to listen to podcast voice and tone. All around my favorite podcast financial or otherwise.

    Wish I’d found this sooner
Cannot recommend highly enough. This podcast provides accurate, relevant information in an accessible way. It has saved me thousands already, and will save me so much more throughout my investing life.

    Grateful
I can’t recommend the podcast and other WCI resources more highly. I am amazed at what I have learned from the podcast, blogs, and books. I have transformed from financially illiterate to actually identifying mistakes financial advisors were making with family. I owe a tremendous degree of my financial success to Dr Dahle and am very grateful for everything he has done. He truly is helping high income professionals achieve financial independence.

    Life changing
So grateful for Dr. Dahle and WCI. I went through most of residency making the wrong choices but luckily discovered his book and then podcast. Now my wife and I are student loan free and have a written financial plan. I recommend WCI to anyone that will listen!

    WCI isn’t just for docs
Update 10/2023 I previously left a 5 star review, but want to update it. Wish there were 6 stars. Jim provides information that other financial podcasts don’t discuss. For example, in a recent episode he covered filing the IRS 5500 for solo 401(k)s. His blog had details that other blogs & newsletters missed. Had I not listened I could be facing a $100K IRS penalty. Highly recommend the podcast & WCI website. Original review: I’m not a MD, but Jim Dahle’s advice has been invaluable to me, my family & our employees. As a consultant & spouse of a small biz owner, I’ve learned not only about financial pitfalls & scams, but how to use the system to our & my wife’s employees benefit. The podcast, blogs & website resources provide clear, simple & specific information on a wide-range of topics. In an industry beset with scammers scheming to get your money, WCI provides you with evidence-based information, much of which has been field-tested by Jim.

Best personal finance podcast there is. Listening to this for 6 months is probably going to be worth millions over the course of my career. Thanks for making this outstanding podcast.

Financial advice gems with medical COI clarity
Jim in my opinion is a unique financial educator. Not only he provides very high quality financial advice but he combines that with something that is very hard -if not impossible- to find in the financial industry, the clarity of his COIs. Something that is very stressed on in the medical profession. This unique mix, not only builds trust in his material but actually makes his audience willing to make him make more money. If someone is providing you with a quality service and telling you that’s how you can pay me back, why not pay them very well back. He should be a theory to teach in the financial industry, no need to hide your fees or COIs or how you make money, put it out clear, provide a quality service and your clientele will be more than willing to make you richer.

    Saved me thousands
Lord knows how many millions Dr Dahle and his team have saved physicians with his insight into finance. Personally, his advice helped my family get rid of a financial advisor who was charging high AUM fees and also develop a solid financial plan. I also started listening to other finance podcasts and found he’s well thought of in the investing community.
  • Non-Doc Mega Fan!
    Informative, entertaining, timeless
I’ve been a listener for several years and HIGHLY recommend the perspective of WCI! Advice that is timeless & will help you save / earn so much more money. I also just really enjoy listening & look forward to both episodes each week! I’m not a doc, work in tech and married to a high earning attorney. But I enjoy even the doctor specific info, I just like this podcast that much!
  • McU_ing
    Total fraud
He seems to posses a theoretical or general knowledge about investing and finances. He seems to know certain terms about many different investment strategies. However, it’s painfully obvious the more he dives into some of these strategies that he has no legitimate financial or investment education, let alone the licenses to give advice. He reminds me of Dave Ramsey, who has some ok advice about a very limited aspect of personal finance, but who also has no professional investment licenses. Dave actually has a disclaimer at the end of his shows that says something like “this is intended for entertainment purposes only.” This guy should have the same disclaimer! The one thing we do agree on is that there are many incompetent and untrustworthy “advisors” out there who give advice they have no business giving…and this guy is one of them!

    Not just for Docs
This is a down to earth, easy to understand podcast. The blog and the podcast both give extremely useful investment and life advise. Thank you for working so hard to bring this invaluable advise for free.

Jim helped me drop my financial adviser
Great show for anyone wanting to take control of their finances. I’m a stay at home Dad. My wife is a surgeon. I’ve learned so much from this show. We dropped our adviser, and now have low cost broad based diversified index funds. My adviser never told us about tax loss harvesting, or the back door ROTH. I’ve learned how to employ these strategies and much more by listening to Jim’s podcasts. Thanks Jim!

    Episode 254 was golden!
I absolutely loved this episode! There were so many great takeaways. I really appreciated the discussion about mini-retirements and how Paula was so practical about the logistics involved. The part about money management and our relationship with it was especially powerful. And I'm definitely going to try out the "Prioritize and then outsource" strategy for my own online business! Thank you for sharing so many useful insights with the MD community.

The best financial podcast for high income and future high income earners!
Dr. Dahle has a very clear and understandable message and provides great information for physicians and those with a high income as well as medical students and residents and those who will soon have a high income! The new intro is much smoother and the podcast overall has improved with Dr. Dahle being the voice of the podcast. Prior attempt to add on a side kick really decreased the quality of the podcast and fortunately, WCI seems to have realized this and adjusted accordingly.

A must for any medical professional
I discovered the White Coat Investor toward the fifth year of my training and although it’s been only four years since them, but it’s been a life-changing! This podcast informations should be given to any medical professional and high earners , as early as possible before they are in a big hole of debts . Now, I won’t miss any episode. Thank you for all of the great advices!
  • A Female doc
So relieved at the announcement that you let Disha Spath go
I loved the WCI podcast - listened to every single one - until Disha Spath joined the podcast team. She has been so PAINFUL to listen to, and I simply had to turn off the podcasts that she hosted (esp the Milestones to Mill ones that she started doing most of). I wholeheartedly agree with your decision to get her off the podcast, and I agree with what she even publicly posted as to the reasons - the nervous giggle (esp when there was nothing funny being said) was, to be blunt, annoying to listen to. Too many ‘ums’ in her speaking, and probably the biggest reason- I actually think her financial knowledge is not particularly sophisticated. On podcasts she sounded so unsure of herself when giving an answer, then she’d frequently say, ‘What do you think, Jim?’ . Lest you think I am writing coming from a sexist position, I am in fact a high-earning female physician who has enjoyed the WCI podcast and looked for a certain level of sophistication in content. Sorry, Disha, I’m sure you’re a lovely person. I didn’t even complete the annual survey you sent out earlier this year, but if I had , that would have been the main piece of feedback I would have given. I’m also part of Hala Sabry’s women physicians group. Wow, Jim, Hala is really slandering you in her fb group which I think is so unprofessional. It had to do with the timing of the Disha announcement, then Hala wrote in her own post ‘I also went to his conference and have no complaints . AND he has proven many times to take advantage of women in business. This is just one and the first time I’m posting about it.’ I personally do not find Jim Dahle at all misogynistic which is why it really bothered me that Hala Sabry decided to create a post tying in the ‘wage gap, Disha’s departure, misogyny and centering men in conversations about money’ all into the same post. Anyhow, this probably is not the best forum to post all this but suffice it to say, keep on producing high-quality content!

Skip to a better financial podcast
I’ve found this podcast difficult to listen to. Jim’s website was a great resource when I was in training but this podcast is a disaster. Jim’s manner of speaking challenging to listen to - I’ve tried to pinpoint what the issue is and I think it’s that he’s reading a script in a totally unnatural way. It’s odd and my ears don’t like it. Also they need to pre-screen the milestone to millionaire folks or can some of those episodes. Some those episodes are especially tough to listen to.
  • VPDcurt
Jim is great. Disha is hard to listen to.
Jim provides sound advice and does a great job interviewing other people. Disha is awkward. I got not enjoy those episodes.
  • Healthtipper
    New Host is Insufferable
The new host is so annoying. She adds nothing new, only repeats what Jim has already said. She possesses limited financial knowledge. Of all the people that Jim could have partnered with or transitioned the podcast to he chose her. Hard to believe. Listening to her is like listening to nails on a chalkboard. And then, to make matters worse the latest guest that he brought on the show was a Marxist communist hippie trying to convince everyone that growing their own food and running their personal residence like a commune is the way to go. I hope that this is an aberration and this podcast gets back on track.

Great podcast, blog, books, and annual conference!
WCI is a great podcast, blog, books, and annual conference! These resources have been the cornerstone of the financial awakening not only in my household but also for a growing number of our friends. Pickleball at the annual conference is a real highlight! Hopefully we’ll have WCI pickleball t-shirts next year!

    What A Great Podcast!!!!
I recently started listening to The White Coat Investor Podcast and it quickly became my go-to source for financial advice. The host, Dr. Jim Dahle, is a real asset to the show. His expertise and insight are invaluable, and he delivers the information in an easy to understand format. The topics covered are so varied and relevant that I never get bored listening. From investing advice to personal finance, Dr. Dahle covers it all. He also interviews some amazing guests that bring even more value to the show. I would highly recommend The White Coat Investor Podcast to anyone looking for sound financial advice no matter where they are in their journey. Five stars!

    General excellent but...
Generally great info for a variety of people in different phases of life. However, one of the occasional co-hosts is like listening to fingernails on a chalkboard, loud laughing, just silliness. I just delete those podcasts and don’t listen to them.

Physician, Mom, first generation high earner
I recently graduated residency with a high burden of student loan debt and I find the Milestones to Millionaire episodes so inspiring. Beyond that, the White Coat Investor is my most trusted source for financial information (don’t tell my Dad). Thank you Jim and Disha!

    Physician
Great topics and discussions for IR. However, a few times the language spoken is not clean. For instance, someone will say f… this or that during the episode. There are a lot of listeners out there, just keep the language clean guys, guests and hosts.

WCI podcast is best there is!
Taxes, insurance, investments, estate planning and more personal financial matters covered in depth than anywhere else, (and I have tried many). Host is gifted in his ability to communicate complex topics logically and clearly. You would pay thousands for similar quality advice that you get for free here…
