    Podcast Review
Steven Pacheco is no doubt one of the best podcasters out there but he isn’t consistent. And that’s okay if he isn’t but he should be fair to his audience and not false advertise with ‘weekly uploads’ or ‘bimonthly uploads’ … just be real and tell us ‘uploads when I can.’ I hope he can get it together and resume to how he used to be because at one point he was my absolute favorite and No. 1 go-to.

One of the best true crime podcasts!
I just discovered this podcast about three months ago and I love it. Throughly researched, presented well, and Pacheco really knows how to pull you in.

    Informative shows
Stephen is very thorough and provides a great deal of information about the cases he covers. I always appreciate this and enjoy that although he provides theories of the cases he gives these details so one can form their own opinions. I’ve been a long time Listener and faithfully watch for new releases. Good stuff

    Used to be great
Used to be a great weekly podcast but now he barely does one episode a month. The old episode are good tho
  • Htylvr
    Well presented and researched.
I enjoy it. Stephen’s voice is clear and even. The podcast has no interviews, 911 phone calls or police interrogations with varying sound quality to get in the way of the story. Stephen outlines the case and gives his theories as to what may have happened in an unhurried way.

    Interesting and well researched
Even though the cases are older they are very interesting. Every angle is researched and presented .

One of the best out there
This is one of the first podcasts I ever heard and still one of my top favorites! Excellent host, good writing that's gotten even better over time, obvious attention to detailed research, and proper respect for the victims. THIS IS A GREAT ONE!

Used to be one of my favs
This podcast used to be great. And when the episodes are released I still make a point to listen. But man the episodes come out so few and far between. Maybe once a month if that. I know the host has had a lot going on. But I don’t know. There is just always something holding him up even tho he promises a new episode is coming again and again. I think it’s slowly fizzling out.

One of the Best in True Crime
This podcast has been my favorite for years. Stephen does such a good job every researching and presenting. My favorite is his insights given with such a flair for words. Thank you, Stephen and I hope you keep it up for a long time!

    Favorite true crime podcast
He is a great researcher, editor, storyteller. Top notch. The best in True Crime. Not over produced like so many. I've changed my stars from 5 to 3 and that's just based on the consistency. I understand hitting rough patches, but this rough patch has been going on for almost 2 years. And I understand that rough patches can literally last that long. What bothers me is the announcements of when episodes will come out and then that is not adhered to. Maybe consider not saying or putting on social when you're going to release an episode when you don't/can't stick to that. I wish he was able to be more consistent with getting content out there. I understand mental health challenges. It hurts my heart for him. And then for myself, I just wish it was weekly content or even biweekly content as it is purported to be. This is my favorite podcast but the inconsistency of releases is so...consistent that I quit being a Patreon a couple years ago because of it. That said, I've listened to every episode of Trace Evidence--I just quit believing when the next episode is going to come out based on when it's posted they will release. If/once the releasing is more consistent, I'll definitely change my stars back to 5.

    The best of the best
Informative, intelligent and respectful are the three main characteristics of Steven’s work on this podcast. Truly will drop what I’m doing to listen to anything new released. Also the 2 star review left MrMike that says this podcast isn’t in depth even though some episodes are over an hour long proves mrmike isn’t actually listening to the podcast.
  • MrMike1967
    Meh.
Sounds like if you Google any case and just read it basically it’s what you’re hearing no interviews, no new theories, not much in depth information

    Wanna give it 5 ⭐️
Like other reviews, there’s just way too descriptive/poetic talk that doesn’t add to the story. And I think Stephen is a decent writer but it’s just not necessary for the show and I honestly have a hard time finishing an episode because of it. There’s an art to storytelling and LESS IS MORE. I won’t unfollow because I really do enjoy the podcast, but I just hope Stephen takes some of the constructive criticism to heart and considers making a few changes. Otherwise, it’s worth a listen.

    Stop micromanaging his speech
Steven does a lot of research for these podcasts occasionally when reading he makes a mistake. Listeners! you don’t have to micromanage every word keep up the good work, Steven😎
  • TildaJean
    Horrible mistakes!
It’s arguments between HIM and Leticia, and the water overflowed, not overflown. The water wasn’t flying! He needs to have someone with basic grammar skills edit his podcasts before they are released to the world!

Sounds like I’m listening to The News
The stories are great but the loud talking it sounds like I’m listening to a newscaster, same thing with the lady from big mad true crime, Ive turned the volume down as much as a can and I just can’t stand the delivery of this podcast
  • Munch07575
    Ok
Good topics but would like to hear more personality rather than just someone reading from a paper which is what it seems like

Man I used to love this podcast
But then days turned to weeks, weeks turned to months, months turned to years. The early episodes are top notch, and I still re listen to some older ones on occasion. The newer ones are like…. He’s trying to be a writer and is SO overly descriptive down to the twinkle in a victim’s eye and the dimple in her cheek when she greeted the sunny day with a smile. It’s ridiculous.

    Well Done!!
This podcast is well researched, well read and Well Done…Kudos!!

    My favorite true crime podcast
I love Trace Evidence. The style and presentation of this podcast is one I can sit and listen to all the time. It reminds me a lot of Unsolved Mysteries which was a show I really enjoyed years ago. I feel Steven does a great job in researching cases and does a great job hosting the podcast. Which is no small task seeing as how it’s a one man show. Definitely recommend this podcast.

    My favorite podcast!!!
This is hands down the best crime podcast out today. His presentation and pace is great and the cases very interesting.

    Bloated
I used to love this podcast when the episodes were shorter. Now there is way too much fluff. The episodes could be half the length they are.

    straightforward and clear…
i like a lot of different true crime pods…some with chit chat and some like this…this is clear and concise…well researched and to the point…

    Best True Crime Podcast
Whew, this podcast does what way too many try to unsuccessfully accomplish. It is SO well researched, touches on many unknown points, and the creator isn’t worried about their ring light or putting themselves in thumbnails. It’s not about him, which is what pushes this so far ahead of the pack. It’s just well researched information presented incredibly well. I love it. I want to take a star away for there being so few these days but i can’t in good conscience rate this podcast less than 5 stars.
  • Scarcelynormal
    It’s fine
Brings attention to lesser known cases but the constant quotes that contribute nothing to the story, the unnecessary details about the local terrain and speaking every word like it’s the key to unlock the mystery gets off-putting quickly. Also, saying “days turned to weeks, weeks to months and months to years” every other episode is tiresome.

One of my favorite tries crime podcasts!!
Steven does an amazing job delving into the cases he chooses to share with us. His approach is a welcome approach to me and I absolutely love it. When I found this podcast I binged everything and have recently started going back to listen again to certain episodes. He truly digs deep into his research and it shows. Steven also truly cares about the victims about whom he’s telling their stories. His deep dive into different aspects of the cases is very informative and draws me in to listen more closely, hence the reason I’ve listened to multiple episodes more than once; because I wasn’t fully present during my first listen. I also love the fact that Steven is open and honest about his own personal struggles and that takes some balls to do so in the way he does it!!! I wish him well and hope that the support he gets here is enough to keep him in a positive mindset and he keeps doing what he does here!!! Steven, I do not know you in any way but I’m a good listener. If you ever need to talk with someone who is not judgy at all and has dealt my own demons; please feel free to reach out to me!!! I assume you have access to my email and/or phone number through here. If not let me know and I will be glad to email you my contact info so you can have a random ear who will listen!!! You’re great man, keep it up!!

Get to the point and stop the creative writing classes
Lots of extraneous information and prehistoric cases that offer zero chance of solving. Every victim is characterized as having “the world at their fingertips.” We then get to listen to padded conversation about mundane childhood memories. You just say to yourself, get to the case! Add to this are long waits between broadcasts. The guy cares, but he really isn’t offering anything worthwhile by trying to build human interest for the first 1/3 of the broadcast. Also, put down the Raymond Chandler novels, your attempts to emulate his wordplay ain’t working.

The Best True Crime Story Teller
If you are passionate about learning every detail about a crime case and have had enough of the giggling podcast hosts- here’s your chance to hear what a professional sounds like! Intriguing dialogue, he narrates with purpose - he does his homework and doesn’t spend time time making jokes. Highly recommend!!
  • Pancho Miguel
    Solid
I enjoy this podcast. A lot of true crime podcasts are hosted by people with a flip and even humorous attitude toward tragic cases, but Mr. Pacheco is appropriately serious, and focused on actually trying to solve open rather than exploit closed cases for their lurid, grisly details. He clearly works hard to get it right, and genuinely cares about the cases, the victims, and their families. Minor critique: the podcast basically has three points: an introduction that gives an overview, a longer summary, and the finally the case itself. I think the first two could be combined as a timesaver.
  • misbrok
    Great show!
I love the host and the way he tells the stories in such detail. This is one of my “go to” podcasts when I’m in the mood for true crime because I know I won’t get bored or annoyed.
  • Devine Ms D
Love Stephen and his storytelling mannet.
This podcast is exactly what I like. I love the style of a single narrator reading a script. There is none of the banter at the beginning that is so annoying, and frankly comes off as narcissistic. With rare exceptions I hate laughter with true crime, and this has none of that. There are none of the serial killer stories that are overdone and lack the human aspect since they are mostly cold and random. I also do not like the podcasts with interviews, they are distracting and boring, another check in the pro's for this one. Just saying this podcast is perfection for me.
  • Pixie Lisa
    I want to support but
I love this podcast, super long episodes, well researched and interesting lesser known cases, I would support by being a Patreon member but the once weekly podcast is now around once every six weeks, the excuses on social media are endless, power cut, pc issues, water main break, sore throat, just say you are losing interest, we get it, but to continue with saying this is a weekly true crime podcast is a joke.

    Episode 218
Honestly, I’m obsessed with his voice, his vocabulary, his explanation, details, and possibilities. I do not usually write reviews but this particular episode is so sad yet, calling the possible killer “Mister Softy” kills me each and every-time. GREAT JOB with the name.
  • Gretchenelse
    Exceptional
This is my absolute favorite true-crime podcast. So glad I found it. Just started binging episodes from the very beginning. The host is amazing and I just love his analysis of each case. Furthermore, he is very respectful to the victims. I cannot say enough good things about this podcast. ❤️
  • CarolineVivien
It’s a nice podcast with a few bumps
It’s a nice podcast. I was addicted to listening until he started doing graphic descriptions of the weather, the trees, the sky, how the victim wiped the sweat off her brow as she walked out of her home, etc. I don’t want to hear a fiction writing/audio book with such cheesy descriptions. I also don’t understand the point of going into extreme detail about say, the ages, siblings, occupations of the parents of a murder victim who was born in 1913. It has no relevance to the crime and seems like filler. Please stop using quote/end quote. Other than that, most cases he chooses are interesting and it seems like he does his research. I like that he doesn’t rehash the most well known cases that everyone does over and over. The theory portion is always extremely interesting and with the exception of a few episodes I’ve heard, extremely fair and balanced. I’d give it a chance and start from the very beginning. I’m hoping he makes some Adjustments and stops with the unnecessary descriptions in the beginning but most early episodes are a major thumbs up.
