Matt@THEATLThe Who Discography-PHENOMENALThank you, thank you, THANK YOU! Appreciate the time, effort, and detail you put in the The Who episodes. It meant so much. I commute with a coworker and we listened entranced. It was great to review my favorite band's catalog and learn some stuff I didn't know about their solo stuff. Especially John.

Lord FelchingtonThe definitive Black Sabbath overviewI was already a huge fan of the Zappa discography series. Listened to to the whole thing twice so far. I’m a black metal musician but sabbath was never one of my favorite groups. Even knowing their impact and debatable creation of the metal genre, it was this series that led me back to Sabbath and most notably those albums after Ozzy left that I’d always dismissed(or never knew existed). Thanks you again Marc with a C. Awesomeness podcastified!!!

fueledbymetalExcellent!!!Love it!!!

Everythingyouneed2noGreat podcastListened to every season. Very well researched and informative. The Frank Zappa coverage was amazing. Enjoyed the deep dive into Janet’s career, which has its share of gems outside of the hits.

FreeformchazzAmazing podcast!Great stuff, loved The Who season
-
JHStefWho KnewMarc hosts a very detailed and insightful and funny take on the beginnings of The Who. As a big Who fan, I found the episode good enough to play it again and again.
-
U2DiscoFun and FantasticThe show has no fear about getting super in depth but it’s not stodgy about it. Marc is a great host; he’s funny, warm and really incisive with his views on the bands and the music. It’s worth your time.

Dallas CornIncredibleJust a great podcast

trrishSo much funI came into this podcast for The Who. Thoroughly enjoyed every minute. I’ve developed a fondness for Marc and his style. I’ll keep listening to whatever’s next. It’s been so fun rekindling my love of The Who’s music.

Matt SchierenTaught Me Things I Didn't KnowI've been a huge Frank Zappa and The Who fan for as long as I can remember enjoying music. Marc's episodes on both Zappa and The Who have not only rekindled my love for their music, but taught me things I didn't know about the the music, the musicians, and everything in between. I cannot recommend this podcast enough if you're someone who cares about what goes into their ears.

ShowyTCame in for The Who and learned so much moreThis is an incredibly well-done and well-researched/prepared podcast. I’m completely blown away by Marc’s exhausted research and great takes. He’s comfortable behind the mic (a little hokey DJish at times, but that seems like part of his schtick). If you are a fan of the band he’s delving into, you’ll be incredibly impressed and enthralled!! Take a look at the bands he covers...if you like the band, just give the first episode a listen and you’ll want to hear much much more!

Bo Hess, MSW, LCSWGREAT JOBThe Janet Jackson series was awesome! Thanks for paying respect!

:):):):)😍😍😍The best podcast!Without a doubt the best podcast I’ve ever heard. They care so much about the topics and go into such detail. Keep up the amazing work!

G-force/G-babesLoving The Who !!This podcast is delivered with equal parts heart and brain. Well researched but also honest and nostolgic. Marc with a C has done a huge amount of work on this - it's as good as an Audible book about The Who and their solo material. And he delivers it in a very easy to consume manner. I highly recommend this podcast to all Who fans.

Wyatt202020Best Music Podcast Ever!I am so impressed with this podcast and love listening to Marc and his vast knowledge and obviously very well researched material. He is obviously very passionate about the subjects and to me accuracies are important. I get so frustrated listening to other podcasts with so much misinformation and lack of fact-checking. There is none of that here. The podcasts on The Who are my favorite things ever and downloaded them so I can listen multiple times. They are chock full of many interesting facts that I never knew about my favorite band. Keep up the amazingly great work!
-
Dr. DreamOUTSTANDING!!Sensational series on The Who - I have yet to find any errors! I usually can. This is GREAT for experts (like me) and those interested in real knowledge of the recordings... I just need more hours in my day... Thanks to Marc

mattchickenmrpLove this show! Thanks for the great work! You have been top of my podcast priorities the last few weeks and I look forward to every new episode. Love the deep dive into B-sides, solo stuff and side projects. The Who were what made me a music fan at age 9 (1982 “farewell tour” era) - my favorite band for going on 37 years! Can you do one on Genesis next (haha)?

Zim365Good but could be betterI'm basing this review on the current season where the host covers the catalogue of The Who. A lot of good information here and most valuable is the extensive coverage of the solo years. As a fan who has largely avoided the solo Who releases, I really enjoyed that breakdown. He also gives the most cohesive and understandable attempt at an explanation for the Who's aborted Lifehouse project that I've ever heard. A pretty impressive feat on its own. It would have been worth listening to if that was all I got out of it. Unfortunately, the host chooses to read a script rather than just talk about the music. You know, like a human being. His choice to read makes it sound awkward and stilted. Then when he tries to throw humor into the mix it's even more awkward. Also, I'm not sure if he has a speech impediment or what, but the constant pauses in his speech are very distracting and make the show hard to enjoy. I wish this were hosted by an actual broadcaster who can enunciate and relate in a normal way. As it is, it's very amateurish and it hurts the credibility of the program. Most egregious, he uses the podcast to flog his own, truly terrible music. I mean, I get it. If I had a captive audience I'd be tempted to do the same, but it really gets old. And his music is really, really bad.

Big Papi 1313The 'Oo--Season 3Really enjoying Season 3. Marc with a C has done a good job of research, and I learned some new tidbits I didn't know before about the Worlds Greatest Rock Band. Looking forward to Marc's take on the later work of the band and especially Pete's solo catalog. Well done!
-
The GuzeWow!!!Just discovered this podcast with The Who season. He really knows his stuff. I am a huge fan and I have learned a lot about the boys. Can't wait to go back and listen to the first season about Frank Zappa!
-
mammalistDiscography podcastWhat a great idea! I can’t wait to dig in.
-
Buffering GuyCan'tThis guys voice as well as the light background drum & bass are terribly douchey. No from me dawg.

Gayle PLove this!Deep dive, for sure--thank you!! Keep up the great work.

earzzTour de ForceYour passion and dedication are amazing. I’m with you up to 1971, for which I was in attendance. The concert was more fun than the album. That album turned me off. I’m starting on episode 2, and I agree about Waka Jawaka and Grand Wazoo. Among his great albums. Thanks Marc with a C!
-
SingItBackExcellent ConceptI have thoroughly enjoyed the Janet series. Every episode has been fantastic and well-executed (although, it’s a bit over-scripted). I think enjoyment of the podcast is going to depend completely on one’s familiarity of the artist being covered at the time, but anytime Discography breaks out a season on an artist I love- I’m there.
-
Teesa83Great Janet Jackson MaterialSo glad Janet was the subject of season 2. They did a great job focusing on the music and paying respect to one of the most influential women in contemporary pop/r&b. But now I’m dying to know what Marc thinks of Made for Now??
-
All4Janet21Love!!Absolutely love this! Granted I am a huge Janet Jackson fan, but the way this goes through every single album makes me love them all a little more. Thanks for the great work!!
-
hmm i like musicEnjoyable ListenSeason 2 was not only right down my alley but it drew me in like no other podcast has done (yet). Though the episodes can’t include everything, each one is still enlightening and informative (even for someone who had seemingly read everything). Good listen.
-
PuresugahLike Awesome Like Retrospective, But Like Too many Like LikesAwesome. Janet is awesome and this podcast was excellent. However, the commentator who speaks with the host uses way too many, way too many “likes”. It’s distracting—weakens his opinion as it makes him difficult to take him seriously.
-
LDelmarJanetThank u for this !!!! I am loving it !!!!! Please do the top ten B-sides , that’s her best work !!!
-
MikeCheckArtist discographies from start to finishYou're really knocking it out of the park with these Janet Jackson episodes. She's severely underrated and it's refreshing to hear your honest, candid reaction to her catalog. Keep it up! Check this one out, music lovers!
-
JazzyJuddInside glimpse of Frank ZappaI’ve loved Frank Zappa for many years, but hearing this show has given me so much information I never knew about Zappa & his legacy. Not just informative but personal. Marc with a C really goes all in with this project.
-
randallroniSuper job! Thanks so much for these podcasts with Zappa. Been a long time fan and there is still so much to explore in his catalog. Looking forward to the next artist.
-
WhySoSerious98good stuffAs a huge Zappa fan, I really dig what this show had to say about one of the greatest musicians of all time. Would love to hear a series on the posthumous Zappa releases.
-
Pepe PesanteEnjoyable look into the work of a geniusI approached this podcast with a lot of trepidation: I have been a Zappa fan since discovering his music in ‘93, a few months before he passed away. His body of work has been hugely influential in my life, and had inspired me to work in media and to seek out and help promote obscure, challenging music. So when I read someone is going to explore FZ’s discography in podcast form, I took the news with cautious optimism. I want more people to learn about Zappa’s work, definitely! Despite some factual errors (Zappa was born in 1940, not 1941) and some opinions I do not agree with at all, I can say Marc with a C has done a solid job in breaking down these albums for the uninitiated. Episode 5, especially, was really touching, because Marc got the same feeling I did from Civilization Phaze III (even if to me it’s an undeniable masterpiece) that there’s a definite sense that the “big song” continues on even after Frank’s passing. His music lives on in the hundred of albums he made, and his AAAFNRAA philosophy lives on in all of us. So kudos, Marc with a C. You’ve done a good job.
-
Chris B-SidesGood, but not great.I admire Marc with a C for taking on the daunting task of covering every offical FZ release. All things considered ge does a fine job.Although, I think he may move at too brisk a pace at points. Another point of contention is his speech patterns. At times he reads his script in an over acted fashion. He peppers his sometimes over acted speech with lots of.... odd.... pregnant... pauses. All that being said, it's a good, not great podcast. Slow it down, be less dramatic and drop the pauses. Also, get a new intro.
-
jmatthewward23Marc the MagnificentMarc with a C is an incredible host with a generous yet fair appraisal of so controversial and prolific an artist as Frank Zappa. Marc makes each album interesting and informative while seamlessly weaving each singular review into his overall project of describing Zappa’s evolution over time. As a well-researched, well-thought out work of both history and music study, this podcast is truly unique and fascinating. I can’t wait for Marc to approach other artists and discographies.
-
gkaraffaThe New Gold Standard in Music PodcastsThis podcast is remarkable. It is always a challenge for a musically curious listener to dive into an artists oevre (O - VRA) without some external guidance. Marc With A C provides that guidance in great detail, without ever getting boring or condescending. Marc's own relationship (as a listener) to the music being discussed, is an important part of making this a truly human exploration, rather than a dry, academic dissertation. Listen to this podcast! "This ain't no fake music news!"
-
BadMustardVery InsightfulLooking forward to how this podcast evolves. Radiohead next is my guess. Thanks!
-
d@V1D_.Zappa-nalysisIf you are a Zappa fan this excellently rendered podcast will delight you. Every Zappa album is carefully & lovingly surveyed and critiqued. Not in a dry, academic style but more like a well versed fan would approach the task. Entertaining and informative, Discography could be a defining moment in Zappa-nalysis.
-
joeinpoGreat dive into Zappa's work.More of this! Much more. Bowie, The Who, Joni Mitchell, Elvis Costello, Cocteau Twins, Prince, Stevie Wonder. So many artists and groups can be done. The only criticism I'd give is Marc's start/stop delivery, but that's me being picky. Keep it up!
-
Bike MoldWell doneThis a great series. It gives me pause to reflect on my own feelings regarding Zappa’s work. Marc encourages me to go back and re-listen to the collection. I wonder if he is working for the ZFT due to his nearly unwavering promotion of their releases. I would assume that they’d be better sonically due the advent of modern production equipment and the hard work of the vault-meister, Joe Travers. In spite of that there’s nothing wrong with promoting this great music. Thanks Marc.
-
jamesaobrienFair, objective, genuine on ZappaIve been listening to Zappa for 25 years. He was my teenage escape in the 90’s. I was introduced with Roxy and Elsewhere, and got into the hard stuff with Yellow Shark and Uncle Meat. It’s interesting to hear Marc’s perspective as someone who craves the more accessible sounds and is honest about the more difficult pieces. If I were to tackle this project, I would have biased slant on everything. Marc is not a purist fan, but he’s fair; that’s what makes his perspective interesting. I feel like he’s being objective and genuine about the arduous journey into the discography. All Zappa isn’t for everyone, that’s why I got into him when I was 13. Looking forward to the conclusion of the Zappa discography and will stay tuned for future artists.
-
digmyearthLove it!Absolutely love the concept and execution. I started listening to discographies in order this year, completing Neil Young, Prince, Fleetwood Mac, and Queen thus far. It’s a great way to dive into an artist and watch their evolution. One artist on my list is Zappa, but I was a bit overwhelmed by the prospect. This podcast has given me an incentive to dive in.
-
ZombyZappaA joy to listen toWhether you agree with Marc’s take on FZ or not,any and all Zappa fans should take the time to listen.
