    The BEST anthology out there
This show freaking rocks! I’ve really enjoyed every episode so far. I think my favorite part though has to be the interviews where you get to learn a bit about the meaning and emotions behind the story. I have found several writers I am now following through this show. I highly recommend giving at least one episode a chance you will not regret it.

Just what I’ve been looking for!
Found this podcast after a suggestion from “Black Girls 🖤 Horror” FB group. I’ve been bingeing for the last month and am finally almost caught up. This is soooo good and I love the format. Thank you for this little piece of heaven!

    Riveting stories, Amazing Readers
I’m a huge fan of horror fiction, and out of the many podcasts in that genre I follow, this one is top notch.

    The substitute
I found this podcast in season 6. I have enjoyed all of the stories thus far. However, the last episode, The Substitute, has been my favorite! I could imagine this being on television or an actual movie. It left me wanting to know more about that town and how the monster came into existence. I had other questions as well, but I don’t want to spoil the story. Great story and great podcast!

    That intro music tho
I love the into music clip. It’s magic! :) Great show! Tanya Thompson was doing this short creepy factoid clip at the end of one episode that made me LOL for real though. It was just delivered so perfectly. Genius Note to sather86 who left a review saying: “Racist. If there was a show called “white people horror everyone would call it racist. How is this different?” Ok so -buddy- you gotta think about it kind of like this: picture two cups. One cup has been half full for a while and water is still being added to it. The other glass has been bone dry for quite some time -and as such- since the goal in this scenario is equality- if there were to be a stronger stream of water being added to the empty glass- this is a good thing. Lots of catching up to do. Make sense? Hope this helps. It’s a lame thought experiment but I’m thinking maybe, just maybe, it might make some sense or at least help you start seeing things a little bit different from time to time. I don’t know. It’s probably just lame.

Love this podcast and the stories!
Is the story “ The Way” a continuation or was that the end?? I need more. Love this podcast!!!

Horror is neither black nor white-
either it scares or it doesn’t. This doesn’t.

    Wonderful Podcast
Thank you for these viewpoints. I have been binge listening because I love the genre and appreciate the various authors. Both the stories and interviews give me insight into parts of society I rarely encounter. I have become an occasional contributor on PayPal, both to acknowledge an unlevel playing field and support very high quality work.

    My new fave pastime!
I can't get enough of these stories. I love how I'm learning about different traditions and folklore from the African diaspora, and some of the twists in these creepy stories! I'm a super-fan at this point.

    Amazing podcast!
I’m so happy I found this podcast! I don’t remember how but I’m not going to question it. The host is amazing and the stories, while some may not be to my preference, are still all amazing. I have never not finished an episode, nor have I left disappointed. I especially love that episodes sometimes include an interview with the author. I now have a long recommendation list that I can’t wait to go through. If you love even some horror and are looking to find amazing black authors, then look no further! If you’re not into horror, no worries, this podcast is not for you and that’s ok. If you are racist or simply don’t want to recognize that black writers are not represented in most media, then move along and don’t bother submitting a 1-2 star rating.

Can I Say I Was Wrong?
About a year ago, I followed and listened to several of the episodes. It was in the midst of racial chaos everywhere. I was sick of it. Why did this have to be presented as black horror? Why couldn’t it just be horror? Why did it matter? Also the few episodes I heard, didn’t have the best audio. You could hear people breathing, and it wasn’t as good as others. I also left a review, that I now can’t find, stating my opinion. Fast forward to now. I listened to the Pseudopod collaboration, and it drew me back to Nightlight. So I started over. The few stories I’ve listened to have been amazing. The Stiffening really hit me. And the audio is fine, maybe there’s a glitch here and there, but so what. I don’t know why I couldn’t listen last year, but now I can. I personally don’t see the world as black and white, but my way isn’t the only way. And what’s wrong with celebrating black artists, absolutely nothing. I hope I haven’t said anything to offend because that’s not my aim, I’m just stating my feelings. I’ll continue to listen, and I’m sure I’ll continue being affected. Keep doing what you’re doing!!!

    Good Podcast with good variety
I enjoy this podcast but I hate the intro music, it’s way too loud and annoying. I like that they have a good variety of writers who probably wouldn’t be heard otherwise. Keep it up!

    Scary stories, important voices
This podcast is full of deliciously frightening stories, professionally performed and executed. If horror is your thing, give it a listen, and if horror isn’t your thing, this is a great entry point... it just might become your thing after all!
  • hey-mikey
    One of my favorites
This is absolutely one of my favorite podcasts, period. The stories are fresh and interesting; the writing is phenomenal, and the narrators/VAs are fantastic.

    Audio levels, politics.
Normalize the audio across segments. It is irritating having to turn the volume down for an (annoyingly basic) intro only to have to crank it back up to hear the content. I really don’t care what color the authors are... I can’t discern that from text on a screen or grammatically correct spoken word audio, anyway. So, this media company can keep capitalizing on the color of someone’s skin. I’ll let someone else consume it.

    My new favorite podcast
Nightlight is an all-around amazing podcast. They consistently produce high-quality episodes that provide an engrossing, atmospheric experience. They cover all kinds of stories so if you like horror, want to support Black writers, and get excellent book and movie recommendations, there’s something for you. And I enjoy hearing the author interviews as much as I love the stories themselves - incorporating writers’ voices into the episodes is a brilliant move and one that I greatly appreciate. Plus, it’s so refreshing and exciting to hear Black horror/supernatural fiction as the norm and not the exception. I can’t speak highly enough about this podcast and the team behind it, or express fully what it means to me.
  • LP-littleA
    Fantastic Podcast
I love this podcast and have been listening to it every night. I only wish Tonia Thompson spoke just a tiny bit slower so I can absorb every word and picture the story in my head as she speaks. I tried going to half speed on the settings, but then it is way to slow.
  • sather86
    Racist
... if it were a “white only” podcast, it would be classified as racist. How is this ANY different?
  • JustPlainMax
    Terrific New Horror Podcast

    Absolutely Fantastic
The most polished, original, and genuinely frightening horror podcast Ive ever had the pleasure of listening to. It’s a joy to be introduced to such a variety of talented authors, knowing that when you really love one’s work you can go and buy more of it. A big thank you to the show creators and contributors for all the time and hard work they’ve put into this creative project.

Been looking for this all my life!!!!
I have been a huge horror fan ever since my grandfather introduced me to my first horror movie. And I’ve always loved horror novels. But, it’s always bothered me that I couldn’t find books written about or by people like me. Finding this podcast has been a wish fulfilled! I have been listening all day and will be a Patreon member soon!
