    Transcends Boxing Journalism
I’ve been listening to Teddy Atlas for years and have become a disciple of his school of thought. His insight transcends boxing journalism and allows the audience to explore not only the fights themselves from a technical standpoint, but also from a psychological perspective. Understanding what a fighter experiences when they have to “go to the well” or withstand constant pressure from an aggressive fighter will change what you see when you watch your next fight. These bouts can be seen as allegories of human endurance and fortitude. He is able to give voice to something magical in the sport that is often understated, simply because it is so hard to describe. His ability to put these concepts into the context of everyday human experience (such as overcoming trials/tribulations) is also highly motivating and has helped me in my personal life. Every time I watch a fight, I can’t wait to hear Teddy and Ken’s discussion on Tuesday when the episodes are released. My kids (10 and 7 yr olds) even enjoy listening to this podcast while we are driving around doing errands. This is essential listening for any fan of the sweet science!!! Keep up the good work!!!

    Sermons on the Sweet Science
Teddy Atlas’ voice in the world of boxing is nothing short of legendary. I am sure myself and many others wish to have him commenting on the fight game for eternity. The dynamic between these two is great, with Ken keeping things on track and playing off Teddy while he drops those signature nuggets of NY boxing wisdom that you only get from a lifetime commitment to the sport. We all know who the real King of Staten Island is!

Very good for what it’s supposed to be.
Teddy is a compassionate, brutally honest, and interesting boxing analyst/trainer who never pulls any punches (no pun) on what he thinks of fighters and the boxing game. Teddy does most of the talking as you’d expect (would like to hear the co-host’s opinion and commentary more btw) and the sound quality is very rich (so much so that you can hear the guys sniffling; makes you wonder how well their sound editing team is). Overall a great boxing pod for the hardcore boxing fan and a much appreciated and welcome addition. 2023 update: I don’t listen to this anymore. Teddy takes WAAAAY too long to get to the point. He overanalyzes and drives home his point more than I can handle. This pod strikes me as a one man show even though Ken has been more vocal especially compared to the beginning. Still, I feel like Teddy isn’t there to change his mind or is even interested in letting someone else talk too much regardless of their knowledge of the game. Just like most podcasters out there, things got gimmickey. Oh well.

Honest, reliable and all that can be good with boxing
Is represented in this podcast. Mr. Atlas is one of the few hopes we have in changing boxing. He is talking about it the same way he has for decades. When he was fired and vilified by the boxing powers for speaking the truth he walked away. He was doing it right then, he continues to do it the right way now. Boxing can only change when voices like this are louder and more powerful than the organizations that are corrupt. Support good people that are fighting for positive change. Support this podcast!

    LOVE the podcast!
I’ve been a boxing (and MMA) fan for most of my life but have recently started taking lessons in the sweet science. More than anything else I want to learn the fundamentals like the back of my hand. Teddy in your opinion, what are the top 5 or so boxers that had the best fundamentals? I’d like to start watching film from these legends. I did a bit of research and started watching some Miguel Cotto fights. Thanks a million and keep up the excellent work! -John R.

    What happened?
Ken usually has bad takes, and his inherent bias comes in often, so we are used to that…however, lately with teddy, I just want to say come on. How can someone of teddy’s background and knowledge call Shakur Stevenson boring? It’s not this one incident or fighter either. rather there is a pattern that has emerged across many episodes, pejorative like words used to describe ethnic fighters as “thugs” or insinuations they are not talented and undeserving of their status or moment. And then our hosts just lob the lazy criticism of “boring” out there against a fighters showing defense. its nuckn futz. Pardon my French. Maybe ken and teddy watch too much Fox News or something and get all foamed up prior to recording, I don’t know. And look it’s your show and I don’t have to listen anymore. I will always appreciate teddys skill and what he has brought to the sport. But still these two hosts can do better.

    Decline
Ken is kinda ruining the show with his constant political commentary.
  • Socking Swede
    Shameful
Way too much cage-fighting talk. But what really got me was Teddy’s decision to ignore the Adios Yerbossynuly situation. While Aidos was fighting for his life in a Minneapolis hospital after his nationally televised fight with David Morrell (another great fighter Teddy chooses to ignore) Teddy and Ken blathered on about Bivol, Jessica McCaskill and God knows what else. Teddy claims to care about fighters. Yeah, right.

    Teddy worth it but…
I enjoy Teddy. Rideout just along for the ride to prop Atlas up. He knows nothing about boxing and doesn’t add too much to the show. Also, too much time is spent on their personal life at the beginning. I skip right over that.

This used to be the best boxing podcast
Hearing insight from Teddy Atlas on the sweet science used to be the highlight of my week, but now there’s a lot of fluff content and rambling about people who disagree with him in this. He also doesn’t really break down the intricacies like he used to earlier in the show’s history. Also he talks about being explicitly not biased when he in fact expresses very biased opinions… Sorry for anyone who didn’t want to hear that, but it’s true. Also Ken has turned from a fan-loving gracious co-host into an easily offended guy who calls our every poor comment made about him; wouldn’t be surprised if this review gets talked about on the show. I do love his coverage of both boxing and MMA. I think it’s valuable to both sports to be spoken about as sister sports.

    One belt
Their needs to be a one belt national game. Mr.Atlas would be the best at seeing to it the fight game is played to a degree of decency.

Really love this podcast! Just found it a few weeks ago and am going through every episode from the beginning. Amazing! Thank you Ken and Teddy! The podcast is very insightful both about boxing and life. Cheers! Update - I love listening to Teddy’s thoughts and analysis, but I’m done with Ken inserting his political comments.

Good when he actually talks boxing
Teddy Atlas can talk boxing at a level that few podcasters could ever possibly reach. His discussions of all-time greats and all-time fights are informative and passionate, and who doesn’t like a first-hand Mike Tyson story or two? Why only two stars? Unfortunately this is not a boxing podcast. Teddy spends an increasing and frustrating amount of time talking about MMA. Today I was hoping for a boxing recap from last week and a preview (this weekend is the Charlo PPV, Dorticos/Breidis, JCC & Jr cards) and instead am treated with a second straight MMA-focused podcast. There have been good boxing cards completely ignored, neither previewed nor recapped. If Teddy doesn’t walk to do that, fine. Then treat us to more discussions of historical fights and fighters. I love that stuff! Please, no more UFC stuff. Oh, and Teddy’s co-host contributes absolutely nothing to the experience. His voice is annoying and I can’t think of one time he interjected with anything of substance.

Love Teddy but is dead wrong Ranking Marciano so high
Teddy is brilliant, deserves his Hall of Fame Pedegree But to put Rocky Marciano before George Foreman,Larry Holmes is criminal. If you took Rocky Marciano’s competition and gave that competition to Larry Holmes, George foreman, Muhammad Ali, Louis, they all be 49-0 as well Limited fighter slow bad footwork small would have been a sparring session for Ali or Holmes. You think Marciano would last with a Foreman? 2 rounds the most Has 20 wins against fighters with losing records Fought Ted Lowery 2x when he had 43 losses, then when he had 50 something losses.he beat middleweights and Light heavyweights . Just not a good look Teddy I heard Rocky Marciano Was on of the greatest people on earth. But he is not in the league of Ali,Louis,Foreman. Come on Teddy step up your game On this one you are wrong.

    No more UFC please!
5 star podcast! Teddy Atlas has too much boxing stories and knowledge for you guys to waste time promoting MMA stay focused for us fans of boxing please don’t do this to a Teddy! Boxing experts like him are a dying breed. MMA has enough podcasts and us boxing fans don’t care about MMA we care about BOXING!

More than a podcast—American and boxing history preserved
I’m a long time boxing fan and I’m so thankful that someone like Teddy Atlas, one of the true throwbacks and experts, has preserved his knowledge, grittiness, the accent, the character and anecdotes in this series of recordings. He’s a good story teller and there’s so much wisdom in each episode. The fact that he was a boxer himself, a great trainer, worked with greats like Cus and trained greats (including Tyson) gives him an unmatched resume. Someday there won’t be people like this anymore so enjoy this time with a guy that gets about as close as we can get to boxing’s greatest days.

    Teddy intentionally rambles
People love Teddy. I love Teddy. We come to the podcast because we love Teddy. Teddy appreciates his audience. He shows it by giving as much Teddy as possible, really leaning into the quirks of his public persona. He loves the respect he gets as an elder statesman and assumes the listener is hanging on his every word, just happy to be there. He stretches out the most basic thoughts 5 minutes a stretch, moves onto another meaningless point, only to return to the original point you didn’t care about. Teddy manages to stretch 20 minutes of content into two hours and it’s just terrible and frustrating. If Teddy could tighten it up and get to the point this would be a 5 Star Podcast.

    Excellent listening
This is an easy sell for anyone interested in boxing. Teddy gives you a perspective backed with years of experience as trainer and commentator. He’s great fun to listen to and has thoughtful applications of boxing principles to life in general. Ken and Rob lend great support for the show too. Well worth a listen.
