James and friends is a great James Bond podcast. Great opinions and good conversations.

Was just looking for a podcast to kill the time and now I’m obsessed. A bunch of really smart, really knowledgeable James Bond nerds talking 007. What’s not to love? I’m a comedian and I travel a lot and have a bunch of free time and these guys and gals have become my constant companions. Thanks for keeping my spirits up as I’m on my own traveling out here!

If you want to be convinced that the Daniel Craig era was trash, then this is the podcast for you! As I listen, I just keep waiting to hear the tone in their voices that they are actually fans of Bond….still waiting

While overall this is a solid podcast of the series it’s not without its issues and some are minor while others could make you stop listening. First off the main host has great insider info but comes off as super cynical especially over the Craig films. Any possible criticism that can be made he makes. While the watch alongs are great in theory it’s seems rather than giving insight to the films they are watching they just nitpick them to death……like seriously these movies especially the older ones were never meant to analyzed to this degree. Though you can tell they are having fun which makes it enjoyable it often seems like it would be more fun to be apart of it rather than listening too them. My biggest gripe are the podcasts related to No Time To Die these seem to be more critical than the rest of the regular ones and I don’t feel they represent a fair overall fan reaction to it. The episode that had the first spoiler review is almost unlistenable. There is a guest speaker who totally trashes the new film and she almost comes off like she is owed something as a fan, later on in the episode you hear less from her like they edited her out which I don’t blame them if they did. Poor Ben seemed to almost have to apologize that he liked the movie………that’s just horrible in my opinion. While I enjoyed the earlier episodes during the pandemic despite the nitpicking it seems any episode about the new movie has soured my feelings towards it. Please take a step back and focus on what you love about James Bond vs. what you dislike. Rant over:)

Every two seconds they’re talking about politics or other topics that have nothing to do with James Bond. It feels like a bait-and-switch to come here to listen about Bond and hear about so many other things.

Here’s how I listen to the show. I enjoy it. Then the professor starts speaking and I hit 30 second skip three times. It’s the only way.

This is a wonderful podcast, providing informative and disparate views on James Bond fandom, and doing so in an entertaining fashion. The balance works well, the chemistry is great, and I look forward to each new podcast. Highly recommended to all Bond fans.

.... think again! This podcast brings so many Bond experts to the table that there is never a dull moment! As a Bond fan for over 40 years, I’ve learned so much more than I thought I knew! Whether it is a trivia tid-bit, or a new perspective of a scene, the panel of experts provide a diverse range of information to hone the knowledge of the most ardent Bond fan.

The watchalongs have been great except for Bill Koenig talks WAY too much and interrupts others to make points or observations that go nowhere. He builds up and fizzles out with a “well anyways...”. Bill also seems to use “like” way more than a man of his age should! Please don’t choose a film where Bill has to point out a Ford vehicle that is now in the possession on the Fleming foundation!

I’m done listening going to unsubscribe to this podcast - I’m sick of hearing the professor whine about how bond treats women - these are movies get over it and get over yourself - I knew she was going to ruin this podcast the first time I heard her intro - she loved talking about herself

This podcast has brought me so much joy, they are probably the only one I’ve stayed in tune with since early March 2019. They have such a wealth of knowledge and behind the scenes information that I can never get enough of. The watch alongs are a treat during this time. Don’t even get me started on the amazing watch along Intros. Keep up the great work all, nobody does it better !!

I absolutely adore this podcast. I’ve listened to every episode. The team is comprised of well known, respected members of Bond fandom. From fan sites to YouTubers to even a college professor who teaches Bond themed classes, this motley crew of Bond fans are great to hear chat about varied topics with a tongue-in-cheek attitude. Some highlights are the watch along episodes and themed episodes. Refreshingly, they poke fun at some of the quirkinesses of the series, however, they do it with such love for the series that you can’t help but enjoy the banter. I have laughed out loud so many times. Being a die hard bond fan, I can’t help but highly recommend this podcast.

I’ve really enjoyed all of your episodes. They delve into a lot of minutiae that most Bond podcasts do not and do some great analysis with people that are definitely Bond scholars. I like that you update listeners on Bond news as well. Since you were worried about having your ratings drop to two stars after your Family Feud episode, I just wanted to drop you a line and say I enjoyed it. It was fun playing along. I was shouting at the radio at the end “Clown Suit! Clown Suit!” I do understand why Ben wouldn’t have gone with that since it isn’t really an outfit but a disguise, and flared trousers was a good answer too. Truly a lot of bad fashion to choose from in the films! 😃

I’ve enjoyed the first set of episodes. Every episode is like a Masterclass in Bond history and fandom. Never sugar-coated, always covering interesting topics. Rotating guests always keep the perspective fresh. Keep up the good work!

It seems like people who love something enough to start a podcast solely devoted to that thing would have a bit more positivity about its subject matter. I looked past the subjective opinions regarding the world of 007 that didn’t align with my own for two episodes because everyone is entitled to their opinion, but it doesn’t seem like these guys actually like James Bond. I always ended the podcasting thinking, “What did they say about this film series that wasn’t either a back-handed compliment or outright complaint?” My breaking point was their beef with the James Bond-themed Funko Pop figurines. While the fad of Funko Pop has become a bit over the top, there is nothing wrong with those who want a tiny version of James Bond or Oddjob on their mantle at home or on their office desk. To be so against these fun bits of 007 merchandise as to want to soak it in gasoline and burn it is unnecessary. Most will probably like getting their James Bond news and hearing the opinions of others regarding 007 from this podcast, but their are so many other podcasts out there devoted to Bond that even its criticism of the series’ flaws come from a place of love. I would just rather not spend an hour feeling the need to defend the movie franchise I love the most.

The team certainly know their Bondlore but what’s best about this podcast is the light-hearted tone and banter between the hosts. This is not your dry analysis you get elsewhere. And then occasionally they drop in a nugget that you never heard of before and you double take like a Moonraker pigeon. Excellent entertaining stuff!
