Entertaining as much as the highest quality of education
Have been listening to the show for quite some time! EM—not primary psychiatry, but I have found so much useful information and entertainment with these hosts. Impressed with the amount of up-to-date content and variety. Presentations are in a way that promote retention and awareness a good variety of topics. 5 stars plus!! 💯

    Can’t get enough!
So quality. I’m a mid-career psychiatrist and find this podcast to be the most helpful continuing education content. It helps me improve my practice constantly. Spot on and concise, like a little nugget of gold each week!

    Unbiased and Evidence Based
Carlat has been good a long time. But their recent willingness to host individuals critical of aspects of modern psychiatry shows they value what is right rather than pushing for more diagnosis and prescribing. It takes courage to host individuals critical of ADHD and psychiatry in general. But our field needs some serious introspection. Bravo team at Carlat!

    Dangerous ideology
I really enjoyed this podcast until they released the latest episode. i’m disappointed this podcast succumbed to this obsessive. Hyper focus on race and identity shared by a fringe part of our population. this ideology will ultimately prove destructive to race relations.

As a doctor of psychiatric mental nurse practitioner, and long time owner of a thriving practice, I value the clear, concise, unbiased, evidence based education presented by 2 excellent hosts! And thank you for being open minded and inclusive of all providers.

Incredible podcast for patients and providers
This is a fantastic podcast that tackles treatment and pharmacological issues. It is informative and extremely well done. Highly recommended for clinicians and the intellectually curious patient alike. Well done.

    Social worker prescriber?
Not sure why a social worker was giving prescribing advice on the 7/25 episode. Quite out of scope.

    I love this podcast
I’m a grad student in clinical counseling and this podcast is so helpful, informative, and unpretentious! I love that it doesn't just cover medicine but also helps us to understand mental illness. There is a ton of great advice packed into this podcast as well as resources. Dr. Chris Aiken and psychiatric nurse practitioner Kellie Newsome are wonderful and I also find their voices very soothing! 10/10 recommend not just for those in the field but for those who want to better understand their loved ones who may be struggling with their mental health.

Low dose with huge effect size
I have been a longtime fan of the Carlat Report. It is engaging, highly practical, succinct, and--CRUCIALLY--free of industry influence. The podcast formulates an already delightful format into bite sized morsels that are packed with flavor and highly satisfying. I enjoy both the longer segments as well the 60 second podcasts. Fantastic job! Keep up the great work.

    Keep it up
I very much enjoy the recent daily format. While I also enjoy the longer full episodes, it’s nice to have a quick, easily digestible review of a more narrow topic

    Great Psych podcast
As a psychiatrist, I find this podcast very informative, and am so appreciative of the authors’ hard work bringing new information in a pleasant format. I love the shorter daily format of recent episodes, too!

    Great Podcast should be daily
Interesting to non-clinicians like myself. I like every episode and wish this was DAILY please. Whether you’re a clinician or patient you will find the information extremely helpful and thought provoking. Dr. Aiken has a wealth of insight to share as does his partner Kelly.

    Valuable Information for Professionals
A refreshing show, that delivers straight to the point information clear and concisely. I like the pairing of the NP with the MD together as hosts and they both speak clearly and engage well. I enjoy them. The show displays a relevance to how most outpatient offices are practicing in these times. Very down to earth and practical. I found the episode on telemedicine to most helpful, and often use the Carlat Podcasts as a way to find information I need for work and like that is at my fingertips. Keep it coming.

    Sounds like a lullaby
Very helpful and relevant information, but Dr A speaks so slowly and gently, it’s as if he’s reading a bedtime story. And his NP sidekick is very distracting with her monotone and awkward questions

    Keep it coming
Very helpful. To the point. Just the right amount of production flare. I enjoy that you have the discussion format of expert and new entry professional. Please don’t put up a paywall.

    NP as moderator
I am also confused by the role of NP. She speaks as an expert; however, she has limited experience as a NP student. Why not consider a psychiatry resident and/ or psychiatry fellow?
  • Coloradoorbust18!
I am confused about the host
Decent podcast.. relevant material.. but The role of the “student NP” is confusing to me.. she speaks authoritatively & references her prescribing practices, but she’s a student? I also don’t care for her style as a presenter.

    Brilliant Resource
One of the best produced and most informative psychiatry podcasts I’ve come across. Well done, guys.

    Very informative
I was very interested to learn about all the kickbacks being paid to doctors for prescribing drugs such as Risperdal, Seroquel, Trileptal, and Zyprexa because my son was prescribed these as a child to treat his Bipolar Disorder and Asperger’s Syndrome. Hmmmm. Makes me now wonder whether they were truly warranted and just how effective they were in treating these conditions. Thank you for this thought-provoking discussion. Very professional, yet still conversational and attention grabbing.

    Great debut!
This podcast is informative yet easy to listen to. The voices are engaging yet professional, none of that monotone stuff that can happen sometimes in educational podcasts. The information is clear and succinctly presented, yet you get a feeling that the speakers are genuinely passionate about helping others understand the material. I half-expected one of them to chuckle at any moment, that's how much they seemed to be enjoying their work. I definitely subscribed to this one, and look forward to future material!
