I’ve started listening to Extended Clip over the past several months and it’s quickly become one of my favorites to listen to. As someone who’s been a lifelong cinephile without any film school, it’s interesting to listen to all of the hosts insights. They’re also genuinely and regularly funny.

This podcast is almost exactly like Blank Check, except more thoughtful and concise.

It’s a crime this isn’t the biggest movie podcast around. Informative, hilarious, heartfelt - what more could you want!?

If you don’t listen to these good boys then you don’t know film and unfortunately have no swag

I love the knowledge and insight the three hosts bring but my favorite aspect of the show is the canny camaraderie straight out of a Howard Hawks film. It reminds us how great movies are at bringing people together.

I mean who else gets it the way they do? Of course it only has 3.1 stars on here but don’t be fooled. I genuinely think their analysis is better than other film pods, also they just have good taste, and they’re not afraid to trash on something they don’t like. If they make a Patreon, sign me up. We need more like this. Updating my review, still the best film podcast. Thank you for your service. Funny guys too which is important

Inferior to Blank Check

Love this stuff. Conversations are funny but genuine. Hosts have good taste and don’t feel beholden to parrot the stale and performative dialogue that has passed as film crit for last decade plus. Wish I could find similar pods for music and literature.

Good podcast. Good listen. These guys like movies. What of it.

When all you complain about is Varda, Meshes of the Afternoon, Sciamma, Wanda, Moonlight, you’re showing who you really are. There’s more to movies than Scorsese and Kubrick and the rest of the white dudes, fellas. Grow up a bit. Free your mind.

i don’t really subscribe to auteur theory but these guys always have interesting insights about the incredibly wide variety of movies they watch, plus they’re normal and not weird freaks like on most other film podcasts. they got me hooked on ford and eastwood as well so that’s cool

The guys know what they’re talking about. One of the only listenable movie podcasts. I don’t even need to read bedtime stories to my kids anymore, they love Extended Clip as well. I just throw it on the beats pill and forget about them until 9am the next day.

cuts through the mush of the run of the mill culture podcast. listen to this if youre sick of podcasts that are just vehicles for twitter comedian press circuits. a truly singular voice in film criticism. not pretentious one bit

The last time this podcast had a female guest was back in 2019, so if you feel like listening to a bunch of men talking movies, wow, yet another podcast for you! No nuance, no diversity, cool.

I’m a simple man. I find a strong podcast about film. I rate it five stars. I move on.

These guys are funny, and their appreciation for Inland Empire alone should elevate this to a top tier film podcast.

This podcast is so good, that fans of another podcast got scarred and wrote poor reviews. The power belongs to the clip.

This would normally be something I would like but the hosts are deeply irritating, lacking of any charm, and approach interesting subject matter from an anti-intellectual faux-bro humor that should’ve been dead and buried a decade ago.

this is the only podcast where the people both a) know what they are talking about and b) are cool normal guys that i don’t get the urge to stuff in a locker

i would not pay attention to the people on here getting way too mad at their own podcast being made fun of-- extended clip is a great podcast especially if you want something that isnt regurgitated indiewire articles like most film podcasts

My recommendation: Stay as far away from these people and their podcast as you can. You’ll be better off.

Remember that guy in college who took one film studies class and suddenly started acting like a pretentious cinephile? Well this podcast has 3! If you’re looking for insights and opinions that have already been voiced many times and in better ways, then this is the podcast for you.

knowledgable dudes who beautifully blend theory and deconstruction with humor and bro-ing out. always engaging, not a podcast I skip around during. their convictions are strong and they could not care less what the “consensus” of a work is, in terms of how it impacts their takes. one of my favorite aspects of this pod is how the boys are sardonic and sometimes sarcastic, yet their love of their favorite films is always sincere. extended clip for life

Super funny show. Eddie & Malcolm & JT work amazing as a trio. Also they introduced me to Futsal Shuffle & Sandler flicks, both very good things

The range of films covered by Extended Clip is something other movie podcasts should aspire to, and the chemistry between the knowledgeable 3 hosts makes for an incredibly entertaining listen each episode. One of the best things is when they think something is good, they appreciate it unironically. The absence of the typical "guilty pleasure" attitude towards certain types of films is very refreshing. Whether it's an episode featuring a guest, a special broader topic, or just the normal "A-Film vs B-Film" format with Eddie, JT, and Malcolm talking about the 2 picks of the week — it's worth the listen every time.

i look forward to listening in small increments throughout my week and it makes me excited about movies again. i also i think the hosts are hot and cool. good for them
