I have friends in Lebanon and they all hate Hezbollah because its attacks on Israel have only brought return fire which has affected the innocent civilians of Lebanon. These people are unabashedly partisan left wingers. This show is just propaganda. They toe the exact lines and regurgitate the same tropes you would expect from leftist zealots. They offer no nuance and no intelligent conversation. This is the type of stuff that repressive communist Cuba and Stalinist Russia would be listening to if they had podcasts.

Why is journalism so bad today that the only place to get the fullest picture of what’s going on is a place called Useful Idiots? The guests are fantastic. The discussions are wide-ranging. The openings are always fun and informative. Listen to this. Put it on your list. Essential listening.

I’ve been a weekly listener of Useful Idiots since 2019. Back then, the show was funny and irreverent as its description claims. Between Matt and Katie, there was no subject that was safe from a cynical skewering, and the focus on our various domestic political absurdities kept listeners like me engaged. At a certain point in late 2021 or so, Matt clearly ran out of steam and quit the show, leaving Katie to figure things out with temporary host turned insufferable mainstay, Aaron Mate. Since then, the show has become a slog of Aaron’s foreign policy fixations as Katie seems increasingly uninvolved in the show’s production and execution. It’s mostly just Aaron ranting alongside random characters from across the globe who nod along and affirm his worldview. Since Oct 7, the show has been uniformly one-note, highlighting the tragedies unfolding in Gaza. As someone who is sympathetic to the plight of Palestinians, even I can only listen to the same talking points so many times. Irreverence at Useful Idiots has given way to sanctimonious, impotent virtue signaling.

This show is just another propaganda show it’s getting so difficult to find a show with just facts and not pushing an agenda you never hearing the facts from the horses mouth they always put their own spin on everything like they are getting “facts” from the mainstream media sad but you lost me no big deal but sad

I have been listening to this podcast since it first started. I am so grateful for these two wry, insightful journalists, and their stellar lineup of guests. Expect incisive critiques of imperialism, US militarism, neocons/liberals, and mainstream media. Despite often heavy topics, they manage to keep the show entertaining — an impressive feat which makes the program feel like time spent with particularly informative friends. Those trying to smear the show as anti-Semitic are full of bull! Katie Halper and Aaron Mate are both JEWISH. So get outta here with that nonsense.

This is a podcast that will help anyone start to wean themselves off of mainstream corporate media. Start listening and you’ll see the obvious biased, hypocritical and propagandist reporting that is, hopefully, on the decline in this country.

Not useful, just idiots

This show is so full of propaganda and half-truths that it should be pulled from the apple store. Combined IQ of around 100 between these two. The hosts of this podcast have somehow managed to not only carry out legitimate antisemitic threats but the hosts did it with a smil.

Just what I needed in these trying times. Informed, funny, passionate, and effective means of better understanding the most pressing issues of the day.

If you’re looking to mainline anti-Israel antisemitic propaganda, you’ll probably enjoy this.

Haven’t listened to you for awhile, didn’t realize you were antisemites and all about the murder machine controlling Gaza called hamas, you know, the terrorists who use all the billions in aid to build tunnels and weapons and for 20 years has put so much effort into the indoctrination of the population, who build their launching pads next to hospitals, neighborhoods and schools, who really don’t value the lives of their citizens. So calling yourselves Useful Idiots is supposed to be cute, knowing, and self-effacing? Using imagery evocative of the Soviet Union is supposed to be hip and mean something? Why Cosmonauts? Have you people ever spoken to Russians or Ukrainians? I speak to them every day. Guess what they would think about your podcast.

How are people considered left when all they do is parrot Russian talking points and geopolitical goals? I know the title is ironic but it’s ironically funny. They’re either useful idiots or paid Russian agents. They quality of their equipment leads me to think they’re idiots.

This was one of my favorite podcasts, and Taibbi has been my favorite journalist for years. Now he’s sold out and become a right wing troll. Very disappointing.

Absolutely a top 5 news podcast in all facets. Comedy. Real news. Love the 2 sided view, both republicans and democrats get equal “treatment.” Aaron Maté and Katie Halper are perfect together. They are both ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ in my book and my book is da’bessst (Nacho Libre) book ever. They have many traits that make them da’bessst. My favorite trait of Katie is she is one of the best listeners in podcast land. She asks the guest or Aaron a question and then is absolutely quiet while listening very intently. Her follow up questions are also great. Aaron’s knowledge is limitless and his pedigree is second to none. They are for the people not for the dollar.

Miss Matt! I’d rather listen to Happiness by Pharrell on repeat until I die than Katie Halper’s voice and her tankie takes. Now that Mate’s on, it sounds like it’s shifted to a conspiracy podcast given his Crayzone credentials. Just garbage

There is plenty of things to like about this podcast, but the pro-Russia bias is NOT one them. I am all for fair coverage, but in criticizing NATO’s history and usefulness and trying to spin defending Ukraine as just another American military proxy war, they completely ignore that Ukraine wants this fight, no matter the cost. Russia is torturing, killing, and kidnapping civilians. Russia itself restricts speech and information to their own people. This is NOT a regime to defend. Nothing that Russia has done is defensible, honorable, or legal.
