I had the opportunity this past week to speak with the guys who run the podcast out of Solano state prison and they were so lovely to speak with! They recommended to me the wild turkey episode and it did not disappoint! They are doing great work and I can’t wait for their next episode!!!

We all need to re-examine our own vindictive natures and reassess organized religion, and their alignment with a government that professes to be upholding the teachings of Christ, a government that puts profit before people daily. Thank you for creating this forum, it is well needed.

Another great podcast amplifying voices that often go unheard... Discovered this podcast from Ear Hustle and was excited to find more content from within the long-needing-abolished prison system. Would love to hear from more voices outside of CDCR. Keep it up guys! 💗

After spending time in prison on a wrongful conviction, I can definitely vouch for the authenticity of this podcast.

If you like ear hustle, you will enjoy uncuffed. It’s raw and open about the day to day life in prison. The picture most people have is not correct, this is a very interesting to hear what happens after the conviction. Poutfit

There is nothing more inspiring than witnessing authenticity, human frailty, transcendence and redemption amidst unimaginable and yet completely relatable circumstances. In Skyboii, I could relate to every person, every experience, and was moved throughout. I felt like I was the mother who received the phone call after her son was murdered, Skyboii during the altercation where he murdered another man, the man who fell victim, Skyboiis compassionate dad who reached out to empathize and connect with the family of the victim, the singer of the redemption song written to the mother of victim, the song itself, the song writer (Skyboii the artist) and song experiencer. Bear bones and spiritual, real, and full - peppered with cultural insights, some light and innocuous banter that soothes and adds more layers. Uncuffed is moving without frills or pretense - a rare gem and peek into society, into the men inside Solano prison who are just that human like you and me, and into us (Me/you), the listeners who will resonate with this human side of life in prison (which we all are metaphorically)

I've been listening to these guys' stories on KALW for years. I am always moved and amazed. I have my head spinned around. They have insights on the world that no one else has. They've become very skilled radio producers, and I can't wait to hear what they do with this series.

The listening to the stories created by and about people experiencing incarceration will change your life. These stories remind the listener what it means to be human, and will enrich your life. They will make you think and and better understand the prison industrial complex, and why it is an antiquated system of punishment that should be eliminated—for real healing for everyone, both inside and outside the walls. Thank you all at Uncuffed for being a catalyst of change and disrupting the dehumanizing narrative about people experiencing incarceration!

As a huge fan of Ear Hustle, this is a project I’m really looking forward to. A great way to hear all about what life in California prisons are like directly from the inmates themselves, hopefully more good stories about hope and rehabilitation too.

The pieces these guys have put up on KALW over the past year have been so moving and so eye-opening, I can’t wait to see how much further they will go with their own podcast!
