70mm

A podcast for movie fans, inspired by Letterboxd. (We're not experts.) Each week artist Danny Haas, spiritual advisor Protolexus, and journeyman podcaster Slim discuss a recently watched film together. A brand new theme each month. Their love for each other cannot be broken. Or can it?

    Mid all around
Podcast is cool facts are a little all over the place random topics and takes a while to get to the actual point of the show, I ordered art for Danny to sign at the EPCOT International Festival Of The Arts, and so far two are lost and one came in today crumbled sad to say I am no longer interested in having the one E.T. Print signed why meet someone who doesn’t care. It least that’s how the customer service and the quality of the packaging of the print. Extremely disappointed this was a highlight for my trip.

    Finally, a podcast about movies
This quickly became my favorite podcast. Great hosts and a really interesting mix of movies they discuss

    A Long-Time Listener
Hello. It’s simple: I enjoy this podcast. The hosts are good. The movie talk is good. The non-movie talk is good. The community they’ve built is good. All is good within 70mm.

The world needs a Cainiacs T-Shirt line now!
What can I say, these guys make me laugh, make me think, are always spot on and entertaining! MORE NUGGET TALK!! No joke, I have literally almost wrecked my car because I was laughing so hard. On top of that my daughter’s name is Olive and anyone else who would name their daughter Olive is OK in my book!

    Waste of time
If you enjoy Podcasts where the hosts talk incessantly for the first 20 or 30 minutes before actually getting to the movie this is the show for you. If you also enjoy the hosts, interrupting the flow every few minutes to talk about non-movie related topics then this is also a good choice for you. I listened to a few episodes, but the one where they talked about chicken nuggets over and over throughout the entire episode was the one that prompted me to write this. No thanks.

    Film + fun!
70mm is a great podcast to throw on when you want honest responses to movies and when you want a good laugh. The 70mm boyz are real, knowledgeable and honestly just have a rootin tootin good time - it’s a nice break from the stick-up-the-butt film buffs in my opinion! Plus they’ve built an inviting community through discord and Patreon that’s brought a lot of joy to people’s lives. I recommend to anyone!

    Too much time wasting.
Sorry, time stamp your episodes if your gonna talk about see real other films and chicken nuggets before getting to the film the ep is on. You can do a 2 hour episode just on the film, ya know.

    “Hans Cranking It”
If I’m ever having a bad day I go back and listen to the Interstellar episode. Never fails to make me smile and maybe tear up a little

    Low quality commentary
Tried a few episodes. Hosts don’t seem particularly knowledgeable about film and don’t even seem that interested. Fitting that this show is affiliated with letterboxd, I guess.

    Current favorite pod!
Have been listening almost exclusively to 70mm for a couple months now and love the vibe. The boys are all so passionate about movies but they keep the convo light and fun. The most amazing thing about this podcast is the community built around the show. The hosts interact with listeners and feature comments and feedback on the show. Seriously, if you’re not a listener you should be and soon you’ll be a villager too.

    Neophyte film gabbing
Three white dudes who worship at the Spielberg/Nolan/Fincher/Scorsese alter but who know nothing about the French New Wave. Feels akin to reading a high school book report: someone who knows little about the subject firing off shallow reactions. And these dudes insist on calling filmmakers by their first names, as if they are friends. Big amateur vibes here.

My favorite movie podcast out there! If you haven’t listened, give it a shot!

    Great show bad movies
Horrible movie selections for the last several months. Not sure why this pod is so off the rails now but it was once good and covered good films. The film selection has been so bad I don’t listen any longer

    Hands Down The Best Podcast
70mm is by far one of the best podcasts I’ve found. The commentary between Slim, Danny and Proto is spot on and brings me to literal tears from laughing so hard. Great job guys!

Power to the actual Three Musketeers
Very deep and thoughtful and thought provoking. It is almost unbelievable there’s still hope for the next generation of movie critics. These three young goofballs brought tears to my eyes. Kudos! Please keep up the good work.

    Giggle giggle giggle
Lots of inside jokes, plugging other podcasts, and giggling with a little bit of film talk. If there’s what you enjoy, this is the podcast for you, if you want actual discussion of a film, look elsewhere 🖖

    New fan
I recently found this on a random search for a new podcast and I really like it. The hosts seem like really cool people that would be fun to hang out with. I look forward to listening to more episodes!

    My favorite (movie) podcast.
Relatively new listener, but I got hooked fast. They’re not here to dissect film, talk camera and color theory, or speculate on what the leading actor’s blood type is. It’s 3 friends who get together every week and talk about the movie they watched. They crack some sillies, speak on their favorite things, and wonder if they just witnessed the greatest film in the history of cinema. This coupled with Danny’s IMMACULATE weekly artwork and the phenomenal discord community, it’s the perfect all time classic movie pod. Auto 5 Banger.
  • Xanthinx
    70mm
Danny loves movies, Slim loves to cry, and Proto loves watching the world burn. 5 banger.

Finally a Movie Podcast for People Who Love Movie Podcasts
There’s people who love to listen to movie podcasts and then there’s people who love movie podcasts, and people who love movie podcasts love everything about them. That’s what this movie podcast is. When you get it you get it. You kinda have to have a level of maturity and experience with movie podcasts (maybe like a spiritual maturity as well and emotional depth). Not everyone gets there. Some people give this movie podcast less than 4 stars and if that’s you, there’s still hope. You still may grow and be able to get to that level where you understand movie podcasts on a deeper level and you can understand what this movie podcast means. So if you’re not there yet, don’t worry, there’s still time, keep listening. But for me, this movie podcast really hits that and it’s a 5 star movie podcast still. What a movie podcast.

A Great Podcast With A Great Community
I started this podcast at the beginning of 2022. Having now listened to the entire back catalog (and watching or re-watching all the accompanying movies), I have developed such a love of this podcast and, more importantly, the community that has developed around it. Slim, Danny and Proto discuss a variety of films. Some I loved, some…not so much. But it has opened my eyes and ears to so many new films that I’d never have considered before. It is now a highlight of my week to join my friends in the VHS Village and listen to the live recording of this show. 70mm is a 15 banger, hands down.

Makes me actually look forward to Mondays
Listening to this podcast is like hanging with your 3 best friends who introduce you to new films and make you giggle for an hour straight. I love their dynamic and this quickly shot to my top 5 podcasts list. I actually won’t stop telling people about it. In a sea of underwhelming voices in the pod world, this one is worth every minute. 70MM is something special, protect this pod at all costs.
  • GravityMazer
Finally, a podcast for film lovers and lovers of life.
In his 1987 review of Termination: Dawn of Robots, Ronald Ebert said “films are important because they remind us of our humanity and when you are faced with an evil (like the Robot Overlords in the 1987 film Termination: Dawn of Robots) you need to remember you are human.” This podcast is a majestic, radiant lighthouse in a sea of boring, ad-filled soul-less podcasts. The hosts - Slim, Daniel Han, and Protozoa - bare their souls each week by deeply engaging with the selected movie’s spirit and heart. Do they analyze each frame and dissect every line of dialog ? No. Do they remember Steve Buscemi’s name when they are trying to remember that “one actor in all those Adam Sandler movies” ? No. But do they make you laugh and bring a smile to your face? Yes. And that’s what makes us human. And not robots. Put those headphones into your ear holes and press play on this podcast. You will be reminded of your humanity and why you love movies…and life.

    Insufferable
"Umm, it just, like, didn't really, like, do...anything for me? I don't know.. everyone talks about how great this movie is and so I watched it and I was, like, wow... this is super boring and slow? So, like, I made it thru, like, twenty minutes and I just had to, umm like, turn it off. Hated it. One star."

    These guys are the best
It’s like talking about all of my favorite movies with a couple of old friends. Hope this show goes on for a long, long time. If you can, you should support ‘em on Patreon, the uncut eps are even better than these.

I hope Slim posts this review in an Instagram story
The podcast is good too. I like how they talk and it’s about movies. Seems like the first podcast to do something so revolutionary. Very brave.

    Not enough substance.

    Ummm
I feel like the one host- the one who actually liked the new matrix movie is that one guy you work with that you hate. You can’t understand how anyone can stand talking to him. He thinks he is smart because he is “woke”, whatever that means nowadays, but he just comes off smug and arrogant because it’s obvious he thinks he “gets it” and you don’t and he is better than you. But in reality he is just a shallow annoying t . W . A . T

    Dang, y’all are IT.
You guys are so much fun to listen to, been binging since I discovered the show, really bringing some light to my current crappy job. Can’t believe y’all liked Halloween Kills as much as you did but all is forgiven. Please Review Psycho one day 🙏🏻. Bless.

    Much needed laughs!
My husband and I started listening to this podcast when we were grieving a really difficult loss and it gave us something to laugh about together…now we’re hooked and can’t stop listening!

    Meh
Usually, I only write positive reviews, bc if I don’t like a podcast, I simply don’t listen or subscribe to it. I also listen to a variety of movie enthusiast podcasts, and this is the first one I’ve come across that annoyed the f** out of me. I tried listening to 4 different episodes about cult classics I enjoyed. It’s really rare to find a podcast where a cult classic is covered, but none of the hosts are of an age where they grew up with it, or they’re young, but “get it”/appreciate it. I understand that everyone has different tastes, but maybe include one or two hosts who don’t all share the same opinion and know more about a cult classic than what they find on IMDB. Or don’t cover cult classics. It’s like listening to snobby hipster self-styled “nerds” (but not actual nerds who know everything about the selected movie and nerd out sharing all their fun knowledge and appreciation of the film.) Its the audial equivalent of watching a YouTube video of a teenager seeing a Walkman for the first time and talking about how lame it is.

Way better movie podcasts out there
They select interesting movies, but they don’t seem to do any work outside of watching the movie and MAYBE checking the IMDB page. Of the sampling of episodes I’ve listened to (and couldn’t finish), most of the guys haven’t even watched the movies more then the one time to prep for the episode. It’s all anecdotal opinions instead of at least moderate research to have insightful conversations. They bounce all over through the storyline isn’t he movie. Really wish they’d work chronological through the movies. I’d recommend any number of movie podcasts over 70mm.

    I’m not a walrus or a potato
Do you actually respect all human beings? We’ll this show might be for you. Are you always butthurt and crying about wokeism? Maybe nothing is for you, or maybe you are nothing. A wonderful pod and community.
  • GilbX
    Um....just ok.
I listened to four episodes, two older and two more recent. When they (finally) get to talking about the movie, the podcast gets interesting. They may not the most insightful or knowledgeable movie fans, but they're entertaining (kind of). At least, they make the time go by quickly when I'm on the treadmill...when they're talking about the movie. Before they get to the section, though, they make inane chatter and laugh about nonsensical things. I'm giving up and I'm moving on. Someday I'll find the perfect movie podcast.
  • AndyinColor
    70mm, are you kidding me?
I recently got sucked into 70mm coming from the Letterboxd show (Slim’s self promotion worked really well), and have just been mainlining these episodes. Each one is so good, and the hosts are genuinely excited about everything they watch. Will probably give up and just join the Patreon soon to get more content and join in this great community. Well done, 70mm team.

    Art of Danny is incredible
I enjoy this podcast and eagerly await the episode for the movie Kuffs

    True Movie Lovers
Growing up I always turned to movies as a form of comfort. It's often how I experienced the world and got out of my own bubble. But only so much can be gained from watching these movies alone, and 70mm has brought my decades long love of film to a whole new level. There are plenty of movie podcasts out there but having heard a lot of them it's clear that there's something special about what 70mmpod has created. Not only do they cover a wide array of movies but they aren't afraid to ask the hard questions. While the hosts may not be professional movie critics, their insights are thoughtful and honest. The real heart of the show comes from the choice 70mm made to not just create space for themselves to talk about film but ANYONE that wants to join in. Pick your favorite movie that they've covered and at the end of the episode you'll hear letters a voicemails from an ever growing community of film lovers from all around the world! Slim, Danny and Proto aren't just curating a weekly movie podcast but are ushering a true movement of Film Lovers. So ask you.... do you love movies? Cause if the answer is yes...welcome home.

    My Favorite Podcast
These guys talk about the movies people actually like, not just the ones you’re supposed to like. But they talk about those ones too. Check it out and join the Patreon please.

A perfect podcast for people who like podcasts AND movies and are also not total weiners
Speaking as a woman - The only fault in this podcast of hack frauds is their ability to distract me with love, laughter, and too much brillance. Sometimes I wish that they knew LESS about movies so that I could feel better about my own limited knowledge, my constant and craven desire to see myself better as others by virtue of my hollow and shallow self-worth propelled along only by useless trivia which I can lord over the nearby hapless baristas at Starbucks- but unfortuntely their incredibly wrinkled brains store too much knowledge and they cannot but be entertaining.
  • silverliningpgh
    Nope
Typical liberal garbage. Talk about the movies please. Stop pandering to woman and feminism. As a woman I find you insufferable. You aren’t some hero because you find a movie from the 1980s offense because enough woman aren’t in it. Shut up man. Learn to enjoy movies and talk about them without always finding a way to inject your not only lame but wrong political opinion in to the podcast. Thank you.
  • Skyjuggler
    These are FILM FANS??
After listening to just a few minutes of King Kong (1933) the hosts reveal they had never seen Fritz Lang’s M, Bruce Lee’s Enter The Dragon AND King Kong?!?? But…BUT they have good things to say about MICHAEL BAY’S TRANSFORMERS. I’m sorry, these guys are funny, and I guess they know about movies, but cmon guys, you got a podcast with the title 70mm not “4k streams”…you gotta GOTTA have a decent education in film history.
