I was searching for interviews with some successful trend investors. What I found was an insecurity festival. I don’t care that you are terrified of gays and liberals, just please leave it out of an investing podcast. I was hoping for good, solid investing advice. This was garbage.

Into a conspiracy theorist.

Mike did a great job construction a thoughtful interview with a man with extreme leftist view on America snd it’s Society. I would love to see Mr. Covel interview the Author of the book “Hating Whitey” for a view from the other side of the story. Better yet I would like Mr Neiman to listen to that.

Michael does an excellent job of drilling down and bringing out the very best and his interviews. trend trading is the Mac daddy of trading. My current read is Trend Trading, Timing. Market Tides by Kedrick Brown. trend trading is a lot less work than being in and out of the market throughout the week. Kudos Michael Covel.

I started listening to the Trend Following podcast for the trading expertise, but I have to say the diversity of guests Michael brings on really makes the show about so much more than just trading strategy. One of my favorite episodes was an interview with Richard Feynman. Being able to hear the thoughts an experience of someone who has done so much in our world was fantastic. Definitely recommend.

I came across Michael years ago with his first Trend Following book. I’ve got several of his books and listen to his podcast regularly. Such great and varied guests on his podcasts. And his own commentary podcasts make you really question your ideas on economics and social psychology.

His podcasts share his in-depth insight regarding markets and his long-time experience of trading. Guests provide timely current outlooks to the listener of market dynamics. Always worth the listen. Keep yourself current and educated with Michael’s podcasts.

Michael has great guests and a unique style that brings out a great interview. I always get something out of each episode.

I first came across Michael Covel when I listened to his initial interview of Mark Minervini, and I was hooked thereafter. It is really intriguing to listen to renown traders, and to discover that it is possible to have outsized gains, contrary to what I learned my whole life as an investor. Mainstream outlets will only promote the efficient market hypothesis and buy and hold style investing. There is nothing wrong with buy and hold, long term investing with index funds or stocks, but one will never achieve the gains as those traders featured on Michael’s show if traditional investment techniques are utilized. Personally my favorite style of investing is value investing, but after listening to interviews that included Gil Morales, Chris Kacher, Jack Schwager, Ed Seykota, and others, I have incorporated divergent investment styles for diversification of strategies. This is my favorite podcast on investing as Michael will only interview bonafide, successful professionals. Additionally, Michael does interview many experts in other fields, totally unrelated to finance or economics, and those are very enjoyable to listen to as well.

MC has a unique way of entertaining you while educating. There are other podcasters I listen to for either/or, but I feel like you get your bang for your buck here. I am also a member of his Flagship program so you could say I’m a little biased when it comes to his trading philosophy. At the end of the day he is a man of many talents (podcasting, interviewing, writing, and teaching) and I highly recommend you give any of his modes of communication a chance. Follow the trend and cut your losses. Don’t make it harder than it needs to be!

Michael Covel covers a broad range of topics that get you to think about why you do the things you do, our very human behavior. He isn’t the expert, he finds and interviews the real experts. These are the unsung experts who are quoted, usually out of context, by the popular press. Michael will get you to PAY ATTENTION to how you live. Eminently listenable.

With so much nonsense and noise out there, it's important to listen to people who actually trade - successfully. This is it. And if you're not a trader, that's OK. Fascinating conversations about the mind and human nature, plus some very good converstaions with a wide range of business leaders. I've not missed an episide for over 10 years.

I was fortunate enough to be given a copy of Mike Covel’s Trend Following book by one of my trading mentors - the Bible of trading - in my opinion. His view is refreshing - in a time when so much of the stuff online is just utter garbage. I always make time to stay up to date on these episodes - you should do the same. I have all the books. In hardcover. I get the updated additions. I have two copies. I’ve listened to the podcast since nearly the beginning. Recently, there are a wider variety of guests that go beyond finance, but clearly reflect the same worldview which could be defined as “trend.” Or, in other words, what is showing itself to actually work, especially over the long term. Always appreciate his work, and like anyone else, I don’t agree with all of it, but that is part of the beauty. Challenge. The monologues are not always kid friendly, so I have to gauge my surroundings, but they’re also one of my favorite elements of the podcast.

The podcasts that Michael Covel puts out with some very extraordinary guests are invaluable. Also, in his intro, he says “Honest, Raw, Unfiltered” and he isn’t kidding. That’s why I love to listen to his monologues because he throws his opinion out there but backs it with real evidence; however, when he can’t, he admits that it’s just his point of view. Additionally, Michael Covel is able to interview on the fly (no scripted questions so the conversation naturally flows), asks extremely significant questions, and extracts very valuable information for the listeners. I’ve learned so much through this podcast alone.

I have been a fan of Michael Covel's Trend Following for quite some time now and I have to say, it never disappoints. His ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and concise manner is truly impressive. The guests he brings on the show are also top-notch and always provide valuable insights. I can’t recommend this podcast enough!

I have been listening to Michael's Tren Following poscast for years. I really appreciate his straight up / direct perspective. While it might be too direct for some, I appreciate how he cuts thru the noise and gives the straight truth. Following price is the way to see thru the noise of news / social media advice. Combined with position sizing and risk management you are on your way to a system that has a good change of success. Keep up the good work Michael!

Started listening trying to understand what Trend Trading is , I can't say I got what I was looking for but His guests are excellent and Michaels delivery is on point, good questions and interesting topics.

Covel is the Jim Rome of finance. All would benefit greatly by listening to ‘Trend Following’ w/ Michael Covel. It’s not just about markets, trading or the trend following method of trading in markets. There are so many elements to Covel’s genius that I have leaned so much from. I am a big fan of his style of writing and speaking. This podcast, in my opinion, is on the top of the list of podcasts about markets, trading, behavioral finance, etc. Anyone who is a fan of Michael and this podcast should also read ‘The Complete Turtle Trader.’ One of the best books I’ve ever read detailing one of the very best stories the market has ever seen.

I'm listening to Episode #308 and Michael (over and over, and over again) suggests that the only thing that matters is "price" and that trying to predict the markets (through fundamental or predictive technical analysis) is a fools game. This has been my experience in the markets..."the trend is your friend". Thanks Mike

It all started with trend following and extensions of his publications, but the podcast has evolved into so much more. Yes be systematic, yes think beyond the narrative, but do spare some time for interesting people with a point of view. Enjoy the conversations found here in.

I’ve been subscribed to the Trend Following podcast for several years and the variety of guests and depth of knowledge they bring is phenomenal! Episode 913 is a great example. It had 2 guests that had some interesting insights. I had already read several books by Emanuel Derman, and the chance to listen to him was very appreciated.

Michael is one of the best interviewers one could ever come across. I have bought the books of many of the authors he has interviewed and have never been disappointed.The most recent books I have bought are "Messengers" by Martin and Marks and "Don't Take Yes For An Answer" by Steve Herz.Listen to these 2 interviews. Really good stuff. Keep up th good work Michael.

This review is years overdue. My appologies. Hands down, Michael's podcast is the best! His content, personality, and special guests create an experience that entertains as it makes you smarter. Michael's book, "The Little Book of Trading" caught my attention when I was learning how to trade. I later learned he had a podcast. It might have been the first one I every listened to. Through the years, I have listened to more than I can remember. The one constant has been Trend Following. I have never taken it off of my rotation. He has the best overall program. Michael has fantastic and unique guests and always has a great interview. He has a different point of view, and this podcast is a enlightening listen.

Kind of hit and miss podcast. When Peter stays away from the Ayn Rand nonsense and sticks to his knitting it can be super interesting. But when he lurches into ideology he comes across as a major wingnut. Outside of this the audio quality is pretty poor for a podcast in 2020 podcast - as today the bar is pretty high on that front. The musical intros / interludes are particularly awful and it would be worth taking a little of his trading profits and engaging someone to help him get the audio side improved.

Michael just sounds abrasive. I made it through 2 episodes because I love the guests and even though I know he’s not doing it on purpose, you just want to reach through a punch the jerk sound out of his head. He should swallow his pride and just produce a more talented persons podcast and stop trying to be famous.

I downloaded a few of his podcasts. What tuned me off was how he claims how well written his books were. They are not great in my opinion. It doesn’t provide any actionable information except follow the trend. Does anyone know if he has made any money trading? That would be interesting. Legend in his own mind.

The episode with Annie Duke on her book, Thinking in Bets, which you reposted just recently, is AMAZING.

Have followed Michael for some time... the morph from a pure trend trading podcast is excellent. Every episode that takes us away from the straight and narrow to explore the topics that develop our displince and pyscological robustness are pure joy. These series is a must for anyone involved in a trading business, but there is something for everyone. Keep up the great work.

That's how good the better episodes of this program are. What's best: episodes about psychology & cognitive development. These are often outstanding. Covel is quite the interviewer, establishing great rapor w/ his guests, regularly asking asking them insightul questions. Not so good: the more that an episode directly relates to trading, or to the work of entrepreneur x or y, the less interesting, exception being when trading nuts and bolts are the focus, eg interviews w/ Tom Basso. But when the "trading world" and/or one person's exploits are front and center, its usually much less interesting (I write this a trader).

This is not a trend following trading podcast. Maybe it was at one point. But now it is a “how to apply trend following psychology to everything you do.” And now Michael just primarily interviews authors trying to promote their books. If that interests you, then great. Give this a listen. But if you want actual trend following trading insights, look elsewhere (Top Traders Unplugged is a suggestion). And don’t waste your time on the monologue episodes. You’ll just hear Michael rant and tell you what an “unclear thinker” you are if you don’t think like him. Which, by the way, I do find myself aligning with Michael on most things. But don’t we have enough ranting in today’s society? If you want to persuade people that your thinking is “clearer” than theirs, then leave the raw emotions and filthy language at home and just show them the evidence. Michael is obviously sticking with the trend here with his podcast. Given the high number of 5 star reviews this podcast gets, hard to argue that his current approach isn’t getting him results he wants (more listeners I assume). But again, if you came here looking for trend following trading insights, you will be disappointed. That’s what I started listening for. And after a year, I haven’t found it. Maybe I should have stopped out sooner haha. But at any rate, my stop has finally been hit and now I’m moving on. So long Michael, and good luck.

I have been Following, get the pun, for years. You are a great interviewer. The above mentioned episode was just incredible. I hope educators and parents learn of this phenomenal teacher, her curriculum, process and views. We need her message to reverberate throughout society. As a nation we need our U.S Dept of Education to radically change course with a public education awareness campaign to alter the effects of well intentioned parents, society and Department of Educations throughout our country. We are restricting the free thinking and creative human experience, along with self confidence.

Michael’s attitude has no BS and clearly discusses topics of position sizing, risk, trend following, and price. This is so much more than an investing podcast and has perspectives on psychology you won’t find anywhere else. It is truly evergreen - you could listen to an episode 20 years from now and it will be just as relevant as today.

Great podcast. Whether you're a trend trader or not there is so much knowledge you can gain and apply from this.
