First off, do Mickey Morandini, 2B US Olympic team (and later Phillies). He’s from my area, and a fellow IU Hoosier (the second Hoosier to wear #12 w/ Philly - Schwarber is the other). Mickey came back to PGH in ‘91 (?) and pulled off an unassisted triple play vs the Pirates. I was lucky enough to be there and still have the ticket stub somewhere. Regardless, awesome pod. I eagerly await new episodes each week (or so).

This show and its hosts are fantastic. I was 14 & obsessed with cards, bought countless packs of 88 Topps. This show has arrived in my life at just the right moment. This very ambitious project is a real achievement and I can’t wait to hear future episodes. For now, having a ball listening through to all of them. <3 x infinity !

What an exceptional podcast that instantaneously sends you back in time aboard a 100mph fastball straight into the heart of 1988 Topps Baseball set. This set is the first one I actively bought wax packs of and the colors, design, and players hold an indelible place in my collectors consciousness. Great listen and great job.

A card(or two or sometimes three) a week, every week, forever. Or at least until they finish the whole set. This podcast tells the story of each player, adding in other historical notes, music, humor, mascot chat, and other random silliness. If you are a fan of 80s baseball they will talk about your favorite player, no matter how obscure!

Without a doubt one of the best podcasts there is. The research on each player is 2nd to none and adds so much depth to the discussions. Absolutely love it!

As soon as this podcast hits the feed it’s a must-listen. Matt and David mix nostalgia with tremendous research that surfaces incredible stories about EVERY player—no matter how small you may think his mark was on the game. This podcast is an achievement.

I am so glad that I came across the 1988 Topps podcast. Matt and David do a tremendous job of going through each card and giving their takes on each player’s career. If you want to take a little trip back in time, give this podcast a listen. It’s been a weekly treat for myself.

I was originally looking for a podcast on vintage Spanish appetizers (1988 Tapas) but this podcast is even better. Funny, informative and entertaining, especially if you’re a baseball fan, but even if you aren’t. Great show

Highly recommend this podcast to anyone that analyzed, sorted, and loved looking at their baseball cards as a kid. These are the stories of our cardboard gods growing up!

I’ve really been enjoying this podcast. Been meaning to reach out and connect with these guys but wanted to leave a quick review. 1988 Topps was the first series that got me into collecting baseball cards to begin with, shortly before I turned eight. I’m deeply familiar with every card in the set and to now hear an in-depth, and often humorous profile of each player is such a cool idea. I’m especially fond of the “RBI Baseball” consultant segments, since it’s a game I still enjoy to this day.

I have my 7-year-old son listening to this now with me in the car. Absolutely love the RBI Baseball corner! Thanks for committing to this series.

David and Matt have miraculously made the discussion of a deck of cards that’s more than three decades old not only hilarious, but also relevant to the current cultural moment.
