Embrace Everything - The World of Gustav Mahler

148

The Embrace Everything podcast series is an exploration and celebration of the music of Gustav Mahler. Throughout his life, Mahler insisted that music had to, literally, embrace everything. This makes his compositions unusually rich in what they offer both audience and musicians. Each season explores a different Mahler symphony and includes interviews with leading conductors, music scholars and musicians. Additionally, Mahler’s own words and those of his contemporaries are read by actors.

    Must listen
This podcast follows the storylines of Mahler's symphonies while adding very relevant and interesting background information. The way it is put together is very easy to follow and fun to listen to and adds a whole new dimension to Mahler's symphonies. Whether you're an avid classical music fan, a performer, or just getting in to it, this podcast is a great listen and I cannot recommend it enough. Looking forward to future seasons!

    warning: may cure depression lol
This is my number one favorite podcast! I've listened to every episode multiple times, I tell everyone about it, and everyone I show is flabbergasted. it's some of the best of humanity rolled into an incredible listening experience. Extremely accessible and unendingly interesting, an excellent chronicle of sorts. Brought back my belief in Beauty. I mean, I cannot say enough. Thank you to the creators, thank y'all so much for creating something so wonderful, comprehensive, gorgeous, and full of love. And thank you for introducing me to Mahler. Y'all are doing really great (and I think important) work and it is having a healing effect in the world. PLEASE continue this project!! 💘✨

    Absolutely brilliant!!!
This is clearly such a love project for these creators! It’s very well researched and produced. The actors reading Mahler’s words, his friends and contemporaries plus the interviews with world renowned musicians, conductors and scholars are simply put, priceless. Highly recommend this podcast and I sincerely hope they will continue with every Symphony, including the 10th but also his Das Klagende Lied, Das Lied von der Erde, Des Knaben Wunderhorn, Rückertlieder, Kindertotenlieder, Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen…thank you for your hard work and know that it is much appreciated and enjoyed.

    High quality production
Extremely well done. I listened to one episode and have now downloaded both seasons and the trailer to the third. The synchronization of continuous music with interviews and other narrative interpreting it works well and could not have been easy to achieve. The production values of this podcast are unusually high.

    Incomparable!
This is the first podcast review I have ever written. This series of elucidation of Mahler’s symphonies makes what was merely enjoyable before, exquisite now. I hope that Mr. Cohen et al. will continue this work with the rest of Mahler’s symphonies. And, of course, then there is Bruckner…

I am a composer, and I greatly enjoy Mahler’s music. The context and information they provide has completely reshaped my understand of Mahler’s symphonies!

Simply exquisite! An excellent script with interesting musical references and comments by a fine array of scholars and musicians. Although the effort to avoid the comments interfering with the music when in voice-over was most successful, the ardor with which the translations were spoken over the music (especially in the finale) brought tears to my eyes. Congratulations to Aaron and Marilyn for their excellent work in making this podcasts a considerable success.
