As a recently new the listener to Mr. McLaughlin‘s podcast, I have developed a new approach to my journey in entering the medical device sales field. I appreciate his motivation driven approach to getting into the medical device sales field. If you’re not going above and beyond, you’re not beating the next person. Jacob’s journey follows the Joseph Campbell archetypal Heroic tale of a man who left the safety of his community(those of us stuck in financial mediocrity if not poverty) to learn about an industry where you can help people while being financially secure. He faced down threshold guardians who told him the only way was to sell copiers or other B2B Sales. He thanked them and continued on finding his true mentors on LinkedIn who saw in him a hero in the making willing to put the hard work in and “do the job to get the job” He overcame many obstacles and fought many battles to earn the mantle of med rep and had attained the boon of knowledge from the Mt. Olympus of Med Sales. He didn’t hoard this knowledge, but has continued to share it with us. This angered some of the greedy gods, but Jacob never forgot his original goal to help his community he’s created—he kept his promise, despite any personal sacrifices he may have had. Jacob is a modern day Rocky story ready to coach Everyman or woman seeking a career path in Med Sales; however, like Rocky he will attest life isn’t rainbows and sunshine… No sugarcoating here but tough love. For those willing to take up the journey with Jacob they too will discover life is nothing without its challenges, but it can be a wonderful career life worth living. Jacob is truly passionate about this sector and the qualities required to not only get in, but be successful. He exudes everything that I want to be and I appreciate every call I’ve had with him so far. Unfortunately for me, I just came across Jacob while I’m on vacation and I had to jump on this opportunity as I have a strict timeline.. Not as prepared as I wanted to be so please, if you have the time, take the time to review his material etc before you jump on a call.

What I think is most powerful with his content is the ability he has to motivate; we've all been at a point of what seems like nothing is going well and we are getting No after No during our interview process. Jacob will lean into that pain make you embrace it and then walk you through solutions. That is a tremendous amount of value! I landed my first job in the industry as a full line sales rep and I couldn’t have done it without listening to Jacob’s podcasts. (I also watched his YouTube videos and purchased his ebook.) He gives great insight about the interview and hiring process as well as everything in between. Everytime I was driving to an interview, I played his podcast because it gave me great motivation going into the interview! I am so grateful that I found this podcast. When I began my career switch I had very limited knowledge of how to approach breaking into the industry. Jacob’s advice on the podcast is straightforward, honest, and incredibly helpful. He tells you exactly what to do to be successful and genuinely wants to help others.
