Behind every successful business is a story. It starts with a vision and a leap of faith. Along the way, leaders make bold decisions, ride booms and busts, and sometimes, they reach new heights. From Wondery, the makers of the hit series Business Wars, and Lindsay Graham, the host of American History Tellers and American Scandal, comes a weekly podcast that brings you the true stories of the brilliant but all-too-human businesspeople who risked it all. Fordlandia—Henry Ford’s Paradise (Season 35)
As much as a micro-manager Henry Ford was, I was surprised to learn he never visited Brazil (Fordlandia). I have lived overseas, once being several years in the tropics—one cannot live as a North American in that climate unless you want to make life rough for yourself—the local culture has figured out how to live WITH that climate instead of against it! By listening to podcasts (and episodes like Season 35), I can’t believe how much history I did NOT know (and what behind closed-door decisions were made) which have big longtime impacts in people’s lives down the road. Thanks for this great history lesson!

Campy delivery of otherwise decent content
The dramatized delivery of these business stories just doesn’t land for me, very campy and over the top. The content and premise is good, but the packaging just isn’t for me.

    One of my favorite podcasts
I listen to this podcast all the time. I really like how the podcast is structured, but I think that they should release episodes more often. My favorite thing about this podcast is what subjects they chose and how relevant they are to our modern world.

    Wonderful content awful theme music
We love the content we learn about with this podcast. Pretty much love all of it. I took two stars off because the music between takes is so awful and loud it doesn’t do anything but make us want to fast forward. It’s so bad sometimes we get distracted from the content of the episode.

    Inspired and changed
Just listened to the Pepsi episodes. I’m not only moved but in awe of the Pepsi company and the leaders who pushed against the times. I’ve been of fan of this podcast for years (thank you for all the great content!) but this series - in particular - was the most inspirational thus far. Thank you so much for working so hard to put this series together!

    Jaw dropping and suspenseful
This the only podcast I have found so far that really dives deep into the history of some of the world’s most well known businesses. Lindsey Graham goes into the crazy stories of businessmen and women and how they overcame challenges to become the businesses that we know them as today. I especially enjoyed the series on Uber; it has completely changed my perspective of Uber. Thank you for all the great episodes.

    Interesting topics but very shallow
Good history but takes one side in crisis moments. Example is history of Cisco and not exploring how entitled founders were. Not for everyone.

My only complaint is the music! Is there a way to tone it down a bit? At times, the swelling music overshadows the spoken word. Otherwise, love it!

    Rewriting history and science.
The story of the Exxon Valdez as presented here, shows Exxon in a far, far better light then they deserve. This is a subject I know professionally. An especially aggravating line in this podcast is “dispersants break up the oil into droplets that sink and DISAPPEAR”. They do not disappear, the dispersant and the oil droplets are far more toxic then the initial spill. It’s just a PR move. Exxon and BP are two of the worse corporations on the planet. Why is Wondery helping them whitewash their worst sins?

Beautiful mix of history and business
The host Lindsay Graham has such a knack for storytelling so it was interesting to see them break out into business. The concept of the show itself is also cool because it blends history and business together in a way that both history buffs and businessmen can appreciate

Festini says it’s great so it must be
I’ve come to the conclusion that anything Wondery puts out I should just subscribe and hit select all and download because so far they cannot put out one crappy podcast. They put so much time and effort and more importantly, the ability to dramatize and make audible characters is huge. Very few podcasts do that, most of them are just somebody reading in a room or two people, bantering back-and-forth and wonder he takes the time, even if it might be only two or three people, pretending to change their voice, I don’t care. It helps with my imagination and Wondery. Get it?
  • Lilytheboss
    Excellent!
We love this podcast. It’s presented in a clear, concise, and relatively clean way that all ages can enjoy. We learn so much and cannot wait to hear the next episode! Listen to all of the seasons! They are all fantastic!

    Another Masterful Podcast
Riveting seasons. Perfect length. Great format. Narrative yet also acted in a way that is coherent yet dynamic. Great voice, both in tone and use of language. Well researched. Another win for Lindsay Graham

Stories are getting old and repeated in wondery
I love most of the work done with Lindsey and wondery but man, there’s more stories than Exxon/Shell major catastrophes. I’m so tired of getting the same angle on 5 podcasts on the same stories.
  • AMB1217
    Love the stories
I think wondery does a great job on multiple different podcasts, but- it is pretty cheesy and a little annoying with the different voices one person will use. Just makes it sound corny. When they talk to a woman and it’s a man’s voice or a child and it’s a man’s voice it just makes it hard to follow at time. Then to do impersonation voices for board room meetings etc is again a little cheesy. Especially when credits say women are a part of the story to produce- just use them
  • caiseej
    A bit biased
Most of them I listened to today are good, but it does get a bit biased and defends the greedy, corrupt Rothschilds (on the Rockefeller season) of all people!
  • Honeybee_MG
Truly great story-telling and behind the scenes of famous businesses
I have been so impressed with this podcast. Already a fan of American Scandal, History Tellers, and History Daily…I heard Lindsay encourage this one but didn’t do it until recently…this is a really great listen!
  • Vivian-7

    Outstanding!
This is a podcast for anyone that is in business or has a curiosity about what make companies great and what makes companies not so great. Insightful and in-depth research, practical and non-biased delivery of the truth behind every episode. Lindsay A. Graham and his team deliver insightful, compelling and truthful exposés in every series.

    Satya Nadella series is fantastic!
I love the multi part / deep dives this show does. It’s really unique. Anyone who is interested in Microsoft or business strategy / leadership in general needs to listen to the episodes on Satya Nadella!

    Very Interesting podcast
    Always informative and very interesting

    Very Interesting Topics!!!
This show is addicting to say the least! From Steve Jobs, Mary Barra, to Patricia Dunn, this show gives insight to what leaders of corporations have to endure. Having never experienced that level of power, it’s really neat to hear about the paths they took to arrive at that point. Look forward to many more episodes.
  • lindasteveluke
    Great show
Loving the topics that Lindsay Graham has gone into so far including the story of Reedy Creek which is more important now than ever, great score, and brilliant writing overall really great show.

    Voices
Great podcast but please use women voices for the women characters. It’s easier to follow if the voices are attributed correctly.

Very well done — get female voice for female character
Great podcast but guess by now with Amazon merger you have the budget to get female voice for carli and patty’s voice

    It’s like I’m there….
This pretty much goes for all your podcasts. I just chose this one because it’s been the one I’ve been listening to the most lately. I simply am enthralled with this podcast. I will admit, I have a tough time holding focus (ADHD) to things. When I listen to this podcast, you capture my full attention. Business movers does a really good job of taking business as a whole and turning into your favorite Netflix show, but better. It’s history, it’s drama, it’s intellectual. Lindsay Graham does a really good job telling a story as noted in other reviews. If you are curious about how big businesses got there start, look no further.

    Sensational show
Lindsey Graham kills it yet again. This series, like the many he hosts, deep dives and explains the history of some of the greatest business minds in the world. The story flows and I eagerly await new episodes and topics!

    Music to my ears
I can’t get enough of Lindsay’s storytelling! His voice is compelling and gives me a sense of comfort as soon as I get settled down to listen to one of his podcasts! Wondery is the standard for me in podcasts! Great job with this one, it’s just as good as American Scandal! He makes everything come to life.
  • ManOnFire226
    Lindsay has the Midas touch!
I can’t get enough of Lindsay’s podcasts! Every one of his shows is pure gold. I love the topics, his voice, and the writing style. Please keep them coming!!
