    Impeccable storytelling!
Just found this podcast and I’m listening to the episodes about the Rockefellers! (typo in my other review I got it mixed up with another show about the Gabor’s!) great podcast!

    Amateurish
Poor reading by the host with mispronunciations galore. The host’s voice is a sleeping pill.
  • -so sick of it
    Not worth it
Used to like this pod a lot, but injecting your political view into every subject has turned me off. I wanted entertainment not a lecture
  • crimeo
    Well written and scripted
So glad I discovered this podcast albeit a bit late. Binging episodes and can’t wait for more. Had the pleasure to meet and hear Dominick speak in West Hartford Conn., and just finished reading his son’s book… truly extraordinary and this podcast keeps his voice alive.

Why would you bring Stacey and her unintelligent angry political nonsense over to Dunne?? She is awful and the main reason I only listen to this pod and none of the trashy ones. Get her out of here.... noone wants passive aggressive angry commentary to poison this show too!!! Nooooo!
  • SabsP
    Too caught up
I love Alicia’s other podcasts, but with this one, it’s just not fun. There’s no fact checking and hardly any editorial, it’s just parroting of Dunn’s work, which is very unsympathetic to the Menendez Brothers. Considering how the case has rehashed lately, it’s disheartening that this old point of view is receiving so much more press today, when the abuse has not.

    unexpected
I love old Hollywood stories, and happens upon this podcast while looking up Capotes Swans. After listening to all of the episodes I was hooked. I started at the beginning and am now binging my way though all of them. Wonderful show 🌟🫶🏼

    No more home
I like the podcast a lot but am turning it off because of the misuse of the word home. A house is a structure and home is a generalized place that can be anything from a bird’s nest to a tent to an estate. It’s not correct to keep referring to specific structures as “homes.” It sounds affected and silly. That’s all.

Such a joy, research top notch, presentation wonderful.
I’ve been listening to Alicia for a couple of years. She’s outdone herself on Truman Capote’s Swans. Some of us are deep diggers once we latch onto a topic, we become obsessed! The episode about the B&W Ball in NYC gave me info I didn’t find anywhere else. Congratulations on introducing me to Dominic Dunn’s life and times. It really is a “spiderweb” of show business, politics, gossip, true crime, and human behavior.

    I had no idea
Because of my age, I really knew nothing about Dominick before he began writing for Vanity Fair and covering high profile trials drawing attention to victims’ families, in part due to the tragic murder of his own daughter. He’s really lived multiple lives; rubbing elbows with Hollywood elite, New York society, and the aristocracy of the US & beyond. His privileged, yet sad upbringing gave him a front row seat at many of history’s greatest societal events. His feeling of unbelonging led him on a trajectory to find his own way. He’s had the highest of highest and lowest of lows. One thing for sure, there’s not a boring moment anywhere in this podcast. The host, Alicia has the most captivating voice and retells the stories of Dominick’s life and reads many of his own works with all the emotions that just leave you hanging on every word and salivating for more.

    Great content here, thanks!

    I Tried
I was so intrigued by the swans, after finding the Feud series on FX. Was happy to find this podcast. I stayed with this narrator through the weird emphasis on random words, the fake giggling and the mispronunciations. She took me out after calling him “Robert Fitzgerald Kennedy.” The final straw. Bye bye, Alicia.

    A gem
This podcast slaps y’all! Great writing, fun stories, soothing voice. I’ve dearly missed the old days of tearing into the new issue of VF in hopes of finding a Dunne piece. This pod fills that hole in my life. Love the energy of the crossover episodes too.

    A great podcast!
I can’t believe this fabulous podcast exists. I thought I was the only one going down this rabbit hole of fascinating characters. It’s like Alicia has seen my internet history and library record! Well done!

    Happy Bday to Me
Valentine’s Day is my birthday! So, this must be meant just for me! But y’all can listen too. So excited!!! UPDATED: This podcast is the gift that keeps on giving. Alicia really knows how to dish out the juiciest details and always comes with receipts! And with D. Dunne, it’s a perfect match!
  • Oh Lauren
    Love love love it
I was always a huge fan of PP&J and I’m a big fan of the Trashies too, so it’s only natural that I’d love this podcast. I regret not knowing about it sooner, as I have a terrible habit of never listening to ads. But I must’ve been extra alert the day I heard the girls on Trashy promote this podcast. So glad! ox
  • GPSnark
If you cannot speak a single extemporaneous sentence, move away from the mic pls
I downloaded several episodes the other day because the content looked phenomenal. Am six minutes in to the first and it’s basically unlistenable. Speak all the consonants, drop the colloquial/vernacular, stop doing that weird elementary-school teacher stuff thing with the teeny PAUses on random words. What a waste of good content. How do these people release podcasts without listening to themselves on playback.

    Holy cats!! 🙀 Interest renewed!
When I was younger I watched Power, Privilege & Justice and knew what had happened to Dunne’s daughter. Other than that, I never really knew much about him and certainly not his previous Hollywood life. I am fascinated by this podcast and the stories it tells, the stories you tell, the little sidetracks of bits of interesting information. I’m searching out his shows again on Roku. I am sharing episodes of this podcast to my friends. Watching his After The Party “documentary” right now. Thank you for your storytelling. It’s caught me deep in its web. I found you guys on Trashy Divorces and then discovered this one. Next I’ll travel down the Trashy Royals road. I’m just taking my leisurely time so I don’t run out of episodes any time soon. ~Winona J.

This is the BEST discovery yet for me
This Podcast is the best of both worlds. I absolutely love Truman Capote and the mess of a man he was, as well as Dominic Dunne. He was an amazing man I had to fortune of meeting in 1988 while he was on a press tour and I was an Intern at the local PBS station he was being interviewed at. The way you put these tales together are so great and easy to listen to. Thank you for all your effort! A for Podcast!
  • hollylynk
    Thank you!
I absolutely love this podcast! Dominick Dunne & Truman Capote are 2 of my favorite writers. I’ve had a Vanity Fair subscription since the 80’s! Thanks for recommending the Gerald Clark biography “Capote.” You’re right… great summer read! I adore you Alicia… you are just brilliant! And I have a suggestion. Just finished this book… Pretty juicy! Nemesis: The True Story of Aristotle Onassis, Jackie O, and the Love Triangle That Brought Down the Kennedys Book by Peter Evans Cheers… Holly, Santa Cruz CA. 😎

    Easy Listening
My favorite part of this podcast is how much the host Alicia truly enjoys telling these stories. Tales of the rich, famous and naughty intermixed with gold diggers, wanna bees and desperate characters!

This is the best. The content is fascinating and Alicia’s voice is incredible. Where might I share a photo of our man Dominick. Also I was re-watching the glorious Swing Time the other night and Fred Astaire’s character exclaimed “Holy cats!”

    More Than Dominick Dunne
This podcast is wonderfully researched, written and presented. I started listening because I was a Dominick Dunne fan but it’s about SO much more. Like Alicia says, so many spider webs.

    Favorite podcast ever
I have loved Dominic Dunne since my mother introduced me to his books in the 1990s. This is my favorite podcast ever. I will listen to it over and over again. I find myself wishing I could rewrite certain portions of his life and even though I know how they turned out somehow while Alicia is telling the story, I have my fingers crossed, hoping that it might turn out differently. But other than that, so entertaining.

Where have you (and this podcast) been all my life?!
For someone who routinely bereaves the loss of the golden age of celebrity and the halcyon days of the fashion and celebrity magazine, this podcast appeared to me as if from the gods. I love how the host cuts right to the chase and digs into the story, and when side comments are in fact made (as in the Dominique Dunne trial coverage) they are warranted and incredibly poignant. I am obsessed with this podcast and savor each episode!
