    Love this inclusive pod!
The Full Plate Podcast is a refreshing and heartfelt listen that strikes the ideal balance between wellness, real talk, and body-neutrality. I’m always left hungry for more episodes, whenever I listen!

Healing the individual but with a systems lens
Abbie has a beautiful way of blending the practical day to day tips for healing your relationship with food with education on the deeper systemic injustices of diet culture. Each episode has an element of vulnerability that makes talking about these things feel more possible. A very grounding listen amidst a very disordered world.

Feel good show - not nutrition education.
I love Abbie’s delivery, her compassion and underlying message of body acceptance. It’s very sweet and was comforting to my former self. It’s a good podcast to have on rotation for balance I suppose if you’re into health and wellness. Beyond that, I’m now troubled with topics, messages and guests that do not deviate from the general narrative that we’re ok no matter our shape or weight and we can eat everything. Tell that to our skyrocketing a1c and AST/ALT ratios - biomarkers don’t lie. The assumption that I (or anyone) can be healthy at any weight is simply not true. I found a nutritionist and learned that yes, what I eat can affect how I feel and my general health and appearance, as evidenced by improving biomarkers and fat loss. I wish and still have hope that Abbie can use her platform to educate people beyond dispelling diet culture. Her target audience are women already confused about food to begin with and I feel it’s wrong to let them to believe they can continue poor lifestyle habits and not explain basics about how poor food choices impacts health and how better choices can heal. The protein/menopause episode was the last straw for me, I’ve been through menopause and very thankful I understand muscle protein synthesis and proper amounts of protein intake to retain and build muscle. My suggestion for some reality checks: listen to Dr Gabrielle Lyon and Dr Vonda Wright to learn about muscle loss and bone health and Mary Claire Haver about menopause nutrition and Casey Means at Levels for understanding how food can heal you.

    Healed me
I was on the path of having different ideas about food, more loving ones. I’ve had eating disorders throughout my teenage years (I’m now 21) and stumbled back into disordered eating innocently by believing I was being healthy and reasonably concerned about food and ingredients. This podcast and Abbie really allowed me to break free and I’m so much happier and have a lot more energy just by listening to the podcast. Love Abbie and all the guests. What a wonderful space you’ve created Abbie! ❤️

    Excellent and helpful!
In between my eating disorder therapy sessions I tune into Abbie’s podcast for additional support and to hear the stories of many others navigating diet culture and breaking barriers. It’s refreshing and the entire podcast feels cozy!!

a genuinely transformative aspect and asset of my recovery journey
Abbie’s podcast has been such a helpful resource in my recovery journey. Abbie herself brings so much necessary joy, understanding, and empathy to the world of virtual support/resources, and her guests bring a wealth of knowledge and nuance to what often seem like unconquerable challenges of recovery. I would be struggling so much more without this podcast. It has challenged me in so many ways, and has made recovery feel possible, tangible, and positive. Thank you, Abbie, for all you do! And thank you especially for using this platform to amplify under-heard and underrepresented voices.

    Deeply Nuanced and Helpful
When I first learned about intuitive eating and HAES, I was so hungry (LOL, no pun intended) for more information. For years, I have been coming across podcasts, YouTube videos, and IG posts that are frankly very 101 - the same introductory concepts with none of the deeper, nuanced application. Abbie is so knowledgeable, gives expert information with compassionate reflection. This is my favorite body liberation podcast, hands down.

    Personable & educational content 10/10
Abbie has such a beautiful way of connecting with her listeners. Each time I listen, I feel like I’m chatting with my (very smart, yet down-to-earth) friend. She speaks with care and intention while she gently yet informatively articulates the dangers of diet culture and the oppression of anti-fat bias. She invites other experts on these topics to join the conversation and works tirelessly to deliver content that will help listeners heal their own relationship with food and body AND be able to see and work towards breaking down systemic barriers and oppression.

    Love this podcast!
Still loving this podcast. I have learned so much from Abbie and love the show! It’s helped my health journey become so much more navigable and full of grace and compassion for myself. My Previous Review re: a cohost no longer there: “So excited to have Diane back in a podcast with another lovely cohost I’m enjoying to listen to as well. I loved that the first 4 episodes came out as a debut bc they really built the foundation for what these women want to delve into with this podcast, and where they are coming from in their personal journeys. Can’t wait for more!”

    So important.
This podcast may have saved me a bit, coming into a tumultuous stage of parenting where I have very disordered eating and relationships with food and my body and a teen struggling with chronic illness that currently makes her afraid of food. I’ve shared several episodes, cried through a few and found some very important gems to help us right our ship as we try to get out of some dark waters. Thank you for putting yourself out there for us, and for free!

    Ditch diet culture
If you’re looking into how to ditch diet culture, Abbie is the one to listen to. She’s one of the most compassionate and awesome humans to learn from. Highly recommend!

    I love this podcast!
I stumbled upon Abbie’s Instagram account while looking to change my social media feed from diet culture accounts to intuitive eating ones. From there I started listening to her podcast and I love it. I feel like I’m listening to a friend who cares about me and my well being through this recovery from diet culture journey. I love that Abbie is mindful of racism and how that plays into diet culture as well. I’d recommend her podcast to anyone looking to heal their relationship with food and their body.

    An irreplaceable support
I found Abbie’s podcast by accident. I don’t know what I was searching, I think mindful eating tips. Abbie makes food so neutral and shares her journey and many others in healing their relationship with food. Her network of groups is the best support system. Thank you, Abbie ❤️

    Fun, Compassionate, Practical
I look forward to listening to this podcast on my way to work on Mondays. It puts me in a positive mindset for the week. I love the caring and honest way Abbie talks about food issues- she’s been there! Her interviews with experts in the anti-diet space are very informative. Abbie offers compassionate and practical advice to deal with the many obstacles we encounter every day in diet culture.

    Best part of the week!
I look forward to Mondays so I can go for a walk Abbie in my ears. I feel supported and less alone in this anti-diet journey when I listen to Full Plate. Whether I’m having a hard body image day or I’m especially frustrated by diet culture’s inundation, Abbie’s conversations remind me that there are people out there who get it. Thank you, infinitely.

    Love the concept but
I admire what Abby is trying to do here but am not a fan of her delivery or style. The banter is unbearable. The most recent episode I listened to in IF took nearly 15 minutes to start the actual content and I’m just not interested in why Abby’s husband calls her Snail.

So happy I found this podcast!
As a functional nutritionist, I love finding new nutrition podcasts to listen to! Abbie is such a great host that shares such great nutritional advice that is not only educational, but intentional for helping their listeners learn how to nourish their bodies rather than limit themselves. I cannot recommend highly enough!!

    Making a difference
I just started listening to this podcast a month or so ago, and it’s already giving me so much helpful perspective about eating habits and diet culture. It’s like a supportive friend who just happens to be an expert about nutrition! Thank you for your work. I find Abbie very insightful but don’t think Jeb adds much value, aside from making it more conversational. Maybe find another person in this field instead?
  • lgrochowski
This podcast seems to speak directly to me
When I found this podcast it felt like finding a friend, someone who understands my journey and can verbalize it even better than I can myself. Abbie is doing such important work! I recommend this to all my friends also recovering from toxic diet culture. ❤️
  • BayShola
    Early on her journey
Updated review: I’ve enjoyed this podcast and the perspective of someone committed and well into her recovery. She acknowledges her privileges, though more could be done to diversifying who she brings in so they don’t all look or have similar current statuses as her. I am enjoying the newer episodes and her reflective style.

    This podcast is amazing!
This podcast was the first place I learned about the anti-diet movement and began to educate myself on it. I’ve spread out to listening to other anti-diet and related podcasts as well, but this still remains by far my favorite. Abbie’s enthusiasm, experience, and compassion are things I really cherish as a listener. This show has helped me learn so much to help my relationship with myself and those around me and I really appreciate it.

Every Monday is an opportunity for me to learn more about how to break free from the toxic messages that I’ve been absorbing for decades! Rare find
It’s rare to find a podcast that truly covers all the anti-diet/wellness culture angles with respect and care. I’ll be sharing this far and wide!

    Grateful
This podcast is such an important ongoing conversation. To challenge any belief is brave and there needs to be more safe spaces to do that. Thank you for being courageous enough to share it with the world. Personally, I am very grateful for this so, thank you.

  • Thankful and helpful
    Thankful
I have been struggling with body image for as long as I can remember. I found this podcast right at the beginning of my health at every size journey and it has truly helped me so much. As a social worker and therapist, I find myself using ideas in my own practice. This podcast has helped me heal my relationship with food and movement. I’ve recommended it to people often including my own therapist! Thank you Abbie (and Diane and Jeb)!

    Game Changer
This podcast has been an absolute game changer for me. After years of dieting, hating my body, and even hating myself, I have finally begun to heal, and this podcast has been an integral part of that healing. I started listening after coming off of yet another failed diet. I was looking for a way to make peace with food and how I looked without restricting and over exercising, and this podcast was like a light in the darkness. It has completely changed how I look at food and my body. In the year since I started listening, I have shown myself and my body more love, grace, and compassion than I ever knew was possible. This path is not aways easy, especially since diet culture is such a strong force in our society, but I know that it’s worth it. I still have a long way to go, but I’m grateful knowing that this podcast and Abbie will be be there for me on this journey.
  • SamGray1212
Good concept but leave politics out
I’m starting to enjoy this podcast, but this last episode, focused on wealth, privilege, oppression, and other political views, which I didn’t find helpful for this podcast
  • not a football genius
    A little peaceful moment
I’ve been listening to this podcast for a few months now as I work through my own challenges with diet culture, body neutrality, and my relationship to food and movement. It’s tough work but this podcast and the hosts (now host!) have been so helpful. I have a long way to go but the other day I had an awesome experience at the doctor (asked not to be weighed and had a great conversation with her about intuitive eating). Also, after stoping dieting in October of last year I was thrilled that my blood worked looked amazing! Also my work outs have never been better! I actually have the energy to push myself and workouts are no longer motivated by shrinking my body so I actually want to go. I have gained weight but I already feel like I am starting to stabilize. I’ve been thrifting and buying affordable basics to ensure my clothes are comfortable and help with my confidence. All of this rambling to say - if you’re on this journey this show is so helpful and comforting. I also believe this is worth it. There will be ups and downs but the joy and peace ditching diets has brought me is amazing. Thanks Full Plate!!
