This is the podcast I’ve been looking for!
Love the in-depth analysis! Part of me wishes there were no spoilers so I can listen and read as I go but then there would be no Maasverse talk that I desperately want so I know I can’t have it both ways. ❤️

    They make entertainment smart
I love how this podcast introduces deep thinking in what much of us just believes to be simply entertainment. Most of the time I would feel guilty for just reading and listening about fictional worlds but these two goddesses made fictional into academical for me. I also love how even if there are critically analyzing the text (see how I’m even learning writer’s jargon?!) they also make it fun and personable. I’m even thinking about applying for a course in the area!

    These ladies are amazing!!!!!
I have been a listener from the beginning and LOVE this podcast. I’m not a critical reader, I read for entertainment/enjoyment and I learn something new about ACOTAR/SJM books every week. I find myself talking back to Jac and Amy in my car when I listen. They feel like my friends

    Way too many spoilers
They cant get through an episode without mentioning things from the following books in the series. For example, I’m listening to the CC book 1 episode and they’re throwing facts about CC book 3…. I feel like i need to read the entire 16 books before listening to an episode for fear of spoilers because they cant seem to stick to the one book they’re trying to highlight. I like their commentary but i just cant listen because of the high amount of spoilers mentioned. If they were to stick to just talking about one book at a time, id be down to revisit the podcast.

    LOVE LOVE LOVE
As someone new to the fantasy world, fantasy books can be confusing. The in-depth world building, characters, special abilities of each character, etc etc. It’s all just a lot to keep straight. This podcast has helped me see and understand these novels in a way I was unable to. I thoroughly enjoy everything about this podcast. The way these ladies describe and explain every aspect of the literature in such an educated, yet understandable way makes me appreciate these novels so much more. I love how they explain and describe the different view points, symbolism, foreshadowing and similarities because that stuff goes right over my head, but I find it so fascinating. This podcast gives me such an appreciation for the imagination and talent of the author. Thank you, Jac and Amy, for helping me view these novels in such a beautiful way. You are appreciated!

Spoilers are obvious! Be nice to the girlies
In every single intro they state there are spoilers with or without warning. All negative reviews I’ve seen are about the spoilers. This is a podcast so I assume you listen, I don’t know how you would skip the first minute of each episode but I don’t want anyone ragging on my girls. Read the books then come back, they will still be here! I haven’t thought this critically about books since high school, let alone analyzing, my English teacher would be so proud

The ONLY Podcast for the Maasverse
The hosts combine sharp literary analysis with incredible humor and personality. Savvy, canny, crafty, a delight to listen to on my way to and from work. Clever editing keeps the conversation flowing.

    I love the deep dives!
These ladies do their deep dives so well and each episode is fun to listen to! I’d suggest listening once you’ve read all the books in ACOTAR because you can’t really do a deep dive without connecting threads to future books/chapters.

    Low key life saving
As a night shift NICU nurse with a 1+ hour commute this podcast has literally saved my life. I was resistant to listening to a podcast because I thought I would it hate, but driving safely was becoming a problem, so I gave in and now it is my favorite part of the day. It feels like I finally have friends to talk to about books! I am laughing, finger-snapping, and chef kissing along with Jac and Amy. Now as I’m halfway through CC3 I point out comparisons to animals, use of food, and wonder what Jac and Amy will think of certain plots. I look forward to listening to this podcast and I can’t wait to drive to work again!

Spoilers on Season 1 Episode 1
I really wanted to like this podcast! As someone who's listening to ACOTAR via the Libby App I have to go 2-4 weeks in between books and I wanted a refresher of Book 1 while waiting on Book 3, WHY were they talking about spoilers for Book 4 on Episode 1, of Season 1, I had to stop listening as I didn't want to get the books ruined for me. I now hesitate to keep listening as I'd like to explore the rest of the SJM universe and know they continue to have spoilers. So disappointing.

    My favorite bookish podcast
This is hands down my favorite podcast! Jac and Amy are incredibly talented in what they do and also happen to be hilarious. Since joining the SJM fandom it’s been so nice to have an outlet to learn more about the books and look at them differently. The ideas and lenses these two use have helped me become a better reader. Thanks Jac and Amy!

My reason to go to the gym
Absolutely love this podcast! I have been listening to it while at the gym and it gives me a reason to go workout. It is so entertaining I forget I am even working out! I absolutely love the idea for this podcast. It also helps keep everything fresh in my brain while I am reading the new House of Flame and shadows. Jaq and Amy are very entertaining and hilarious. Thanks for a great podcast!

    Absolutely addictive!
I found this podcast after I finished reading ACOTAR and didn’t want the story to be finished yet. This has become my new go to podcast and I’m looking forward to see what the new seasons will hold! Love listening, and I find myself laughing and smiling pretty much the whole episode. Y’all are a blast! Keep it up!

    Can’t miss an episode
Listening to Jac and Amy have made me look at SJM’s work in a totally different light. I love hearing their insight on these books and laughing along with them. If you love SJM you’ll love Book Talk for Book Tok!

Opinion of a major bouncing college student
So I’m going for my paralegal cert and a prelaw track degree rn and this show is helping me think more critically about my work and how to try and find the subtext in the readings

    Too many multi verse spoilers
Im here to listen and analyze ACOTAR. Im still reading Throne of Glass and havent even touched CC but the past three episodes on ACOMAF i have to keep skipping around so I dont get spoilers. If you want to do and episode about the multiverse FINE. But youre little “spoiler warnings” dont do anything especially when im zoning out thinking im listening about my favorite novel then suddenly youre spoiling the entire world for me.

Jac and Amy. My favorite Sexy Chicken Sisters
Obsessed!!!! This podcast is a Chefs Kiss for sure. The Sexy Chicken Sisters have changed my perspective of ACOTAR and SJM as a whole. Can’t wait to go thru Crescent City.

    Interview Danielle L. Jensen
I absolutely love your podcast. I can’t wait till you analyze silver flames and find all the things that I missed. However, I’m also loving this summer where you interview other authors and I have a suggestion. Danielle L, Jensen. She is so amazing and I think you both would love the bridge kingdom so much. I just finished the 3rd book and my mind is blown.

Therapists love Book Talk for BookTok 🖤
How I have missed literature analysis!! When I was in high school my favorite classes were my AP English courses where we critically analyzed classic and modern literature. I loved it so much I became a therapist, where I now get to analyze people and their patterns of thought and behavior with a similar part of my mind that began developing back in those English classes. Listening to Book Talk for BookTok is such a fun way to get back into analyzing literature, and Jac and Amy are phenomenal hosts! I love their ability to notices themes and patterns of behavior in the characters and call them back to the forefront of our minds, even if they happened in book #1. Anyone missing the literature analysis days of their youth, anyone interested in analyzing literature for the first time or anyone who found high school English class boring should absolutely give this podcast a go! I can’t wait for the next season and more episodes!!

    Nasty
I left a less-than-glowing review and they’ve deleted it. The hosts don’t seem to want any feedback.
  • Alyssa1900
    Relatable
Listening to this podcast makes me feel like I am sitting with two of my best friends. It’s an equal balance of inappropriate jokes and critical thinking that makes it so relatable, enjoyable, and educational.
  • JennWhit90
    Absolutely Wonderful
I love this podcast so much, it has been great after finishing the series. I do dislike how they pronounce some of the names, but I’m sure we’re all doing that on some point. Thank you both for deep diving into the book, I’ve been learning so much and catching things I hadn’t the first time.

    My comfort podcast!!
I absolutely adore this podcast. I’ve been listening since season one, and it has quickly because my favorite podcast ever. It’s like talking to my two best friends about books so near and dear to my heart. I find myself laughing and talking along with them during my commutes. And my husband (feminist king) loves listening to them with me! Ten out of ten podcast… chef’s kiss.

    My favorite car ride podcast!
My go to podcast for every time I have a long drive or downtime. I love the chats, theories and banter! After being turned off by my first ever book podcast “I’ll read what she’s reading” I am so happy I found this one! They seem like they could be my best friends

For when you need someone to talk to about ACOTAR
This podcast was perfect to listen to as I finished the ACOTAR series- all the lingering questions I had about characters choices that seemed strange to me (like licking tears) were considered with thoughtful analysis and helped me appreciate the writing more I did on my initial read.

    Finally some Objectivity!
I’m so happy I found this podcast today ! I know many of BookTok is Tamlin haters (with good reason) but I did enjoy the exploration of how & why he is one instead of just calling him tampon and moving on lol I so love deep dives on books and it feels like I’m talking to people as I’m reading it. I agree with some things, some I didn’t even think about and some I may not have wholly agreed with but I see where the hosts are coming from. All in alll great podcast! Can’t wait to get to the other seasons.
  • MSHSvolleyball9
    Best podcast for readers!!!
Jac & Amy are so fun to listen to and have me laughing and crying on my way to work with this podcast! I have also realized listening to their analysis has made me a more attentive reader and I am able to pick up on more details than I was before! I obviously started because I just couldn’t let the ACOTAR world go, but I can’t wait to continue through the rest of SJM and other books they discuss! I love the challenge to think more critically while reading and I am so excited for further seasons! Love you Jac & Amy! (Also the Taylor Swift references should add an extra star if I could!!!🤩)

    NOTHING ELSE COMPARES
i’ve binged the first 2 seasons twice and then “patiently” waited each week! in between episodes, i explored other book related podcasts and no other hosts were as engaging or deep diving into novels like Jac and Amy. i can’t wait for the next season!!!!!! Thanks for making me fall in love with reading and literature again!!!!

Everything I needed from booktok <3
I knew no one who had read the acotar series when I first discovered it, and boy did I want to talk about it. This podcast has given me every conversation I ever wanted to have about these books, and the hosts are a dream team who weave analysis, humor, and tswift quotes together with effortless harmony. I LOVE this podcast, thank you Jac and Amy!
  • abbiesings
    So bingeable and amazing
I don’t think I’ve ever written a review for a podcast, but I’m loving this so much I can’t help myself. I just finished season 2 and can’t even express how much I’m enjoying listening to Amy and Jac analyze these beautiful books. I can’t wait to read the series over with all of this analysis in my head. Thank you thank you!!
  • vic1874729184
Apparently you have to be a Taylor swift fan
I love the breakdown of the books and all the literary analysis. Amy seems so sweet and kind and patient. I want so bad to like Jack but I just can’t. I don’t like how she subtly belittles Amy. I also am not a fan of jack’s singing and constant Taylor swift references.
  • KayBoggess
    So thankful!
So glad to have found this podcast after reading the series twice through I was feeling a void! You girls are awesome and I’m loving the breakdown of things I missed even after reading twice through!

Helped me through a rough time
Hi, My name is Savannah, I go by Savvy - and I’ve been avoiding writing this review, because I didn’t know how to put into words how much this podcast and the two of you helped me through a very hard time in my life. I experienced a job loss, break up and getting scammed all over the holiday season last December and this podcast kept me out of my head when I needed to find a way to take care of myself, physically, emotionally, etc. I binge listened to the first two seasons of your ACOTAR series and absolutely loved it - I’d even go to sleep at night listening for as long as I could before falling asleep and would discuss themes discussed in the podcast with my twin sister at length thanks to y’all. Your voices and content lowkey became a very soothing anchor in a rough time and I appreciate that. I will always associate this podcast with healing. You guys make me laugh and I look forward to your updates every week. Thank you ❤️ Savvy

    Witty and knowledgeable
This is such a fun podcast! The two hosts vibe so well together and they bring such a higher understanding of one of my favorite book series. I am always so excited to listen to every episode!

    My favorite podcast
As a big ACOTAR girly this podcast has kept my fixation going long after reading the books. The hosts make it feel like you’re talking to a friend but always pick up on special insight into reading that I missed on first glance. Upbeat, fun, & personal - everything I want from a podcast, cant get enough

    Harry Potter & ACOTAR fans?
I feel like I found my people! I jumped into season 3, ACOWAR, because that’s the book I’m on, and now I’m sad that I’m caught up. The Harry Potter references are so good, although we ⚠️ do NOT support J.K. Rowling ⚠️ This book series was the first one I started again since high school (11 years ago) 😅 I love the commentary, the analysis, discussion of themes, and theories. I just love the pod! 🩷
  • dguti97
Love but also beware of spoilers !
Just want to agree with so many other reviews that this podcast is like talking to friends and getting all these golden nuggets with their analyses is fantastic. However, if you want to read along with the podcast episodes you WILL be spoiled with major events not only in the current book but beyond. So, I recommend reading the whole series and coming back to this podcast. All in all, I will be listening to anything these two do in the foreseeable future.
  • Catherine_and_meeko
This podcast! Don’t sleep on it!
I am so grateful I found this, it has felt like having friends, and also just hearing a series we all love in a new analysis! I have also caught up from the beginning in a month, which is a normal amount to listen, right? I love that it has changed my analyses of other books too, because of the themes you discuss, and I think it enriches my perspective as a reader, and I appreciate even books I don’t love better than I used to. Thank you ladies for this cool space and sharing it with us! Chefs kiss! Cat

Seriously cannot express how much I enjoy this podcast! The insightful discussions of books I love have been so much fun to delve into. And the way you speak out for and support women - chef’s kiss 😜

    Love!!
I love love Amy and Jac. I love listening to their points of view and opinions on things I would have never thought of. These books are so good but having this extra discussion is just *chefs kisses*! I hope they don’t only do ACOTAR! I’d love to hear more about different series once this series is done!
  • appsucks1559463@
I would give more stars if I could!
I started listening to this podcast because of my love for ACOTAR, but I will continue to listen no matter what book they chose to analyze next. They inspire me to want to look deeper into the books I’m reading. Listening to them is like having a conversation with my best friend. A million stars

    Finger snaps for days!!
As a casual reader, I’ve never really thought about my books in a critical light. Perhaps back in English class [insert humbling number] years ago, but not in my adult life. This podcast has changed that! Jac and Amy bring a heaping dose of knowledge and hilariously relatable outtakes (talon toes anyone?) while also broadening your scope on how to interpret the words of your fave authors. In the last few months I’ve binged on the entire pod backlist, I’ve slapped my work desk countless times in full “shut up!” astonishment over things I missed while reading. And I’ve cackled wildly with my new booknerdy “friends”, scaring the crap out of those unfortunate enough to be nearby. Thanks, y’all, for this weekly delight! 🫶🏼
  • Niki.fm
Best pod for SJM book lovers
The hosts are so knowledgeable when it comes to a literary analysis and point out things I never would have thought of. They also don’t make excuses for the stupid things the main characters do and aren’t afraid to admonish the author for bad writing choices. I only wish they would stop quoting Taylor Swift!
  • AshMichelleF
    In depth and entertaining!
This is exactly what I want and have had a hard time finding from a book podcast! I love the amount of depth that the hosts go into, and the formatting is excellent! Their literary analyses are so well thought out, and yet also entertaining, so you don’t feel like you’re sitting in a classroom listening to a lecture being given on the subject. So glad I found this!

    My Heart is Full 💛
Wow, listening to this podcast has brought my heart so much joy. I listen to this podcast every day on my way to work and it feels like I am sitting in my car with my best friends. I recommend this podcast to everyone (even my own students). Thank you for bringing together such a lovely community of book lovers!
  • Hayleyj0731
    Obsessed!
I love this podcast. I found it last week and caught up today. Often when we read a really good book we get nostalgic about the first time through the story. This show has allowed me to almost experience this series for the first time again. It’s added a depth to my thoughts when reading and hopefully my own writing.
  • Abbssterrss
Like it, love it, gotta have it
I am absolutely hooked on this podcast! As an avid reader, it has helped me slow down and truly critically analyze and appreciate the texts I am reading. Amy and Jack have made me laugh hysterically, gasp in surprise at foreshadowing I missed, flip through my books to highlight passages, and truly fall in love with reading and the community it creates all over again! This podcast and the hosts are incredibly comedic, passionate, analytic, and intentional every minute of the podcast. A must listen! Thank you Amy and Jack!
  • x3esilevy
    Yes yes yes !!
Obsessed with this podcast and these ladies. I found them on tiktok March week 1 2023 and I’ve binged season 1 & 2. Im currently rereading ACOWAR to prep to start season 3.

English class if I enjoyed it
Listening to this podcast has helped me understand one of my favorite series on a deeper level in which I hadn’t visited before. These ladies do such a wonderful job blending their professional experience with lighthearted humor and references to pop culture. They make me feel like I’m analyzing my favorite books with good friends. 10/10 love them 🥰
