    Love snafu!!
I’ve recently found and started listening to this podcast. History is so interesting, it’s great hearing the real stories about real happenings. It’s Even more refreshing to hear something other than our current politics. Keep up the good work!!

    Meh
I love the podcast. I love the humor. It’s so well produced.. that said I don’t like how Mabel is being projected as this white knight on a golden steed “saving” Americans. She was just a Narc. She didn’t have any friends or any fun so she felt It’s only right to make sure no one else has any friends or any fun. She wasn’t intelligent and stubborn as a mule, but that doesn’t mean she was fighting for just cause.

    Perfect pod!
Funny, history, interesting, entertaining, and original.

    What would Andy say?
This is sooooooo slow moving. Where is the editor? I am trying to make it through some episodes but I keep saying “get to the point!” If they would edit out half the extraneous material and cut the length of each episode by a third, would be enjoyable. That said, I am going to keep trying and hopefully not in vain.

Four Stars for Overzealous Ad Breaks
Love this pod! It’s a refreshing and fun lesson in history and Helms is the perfect host. But the ads.. ugh. Season One was infrequent enough I could listen straight through. But Season Three? Can’t listen to it in the car anymore. Same long, verbose ads over and over. I get it, they want you to subscribe, and I just can’t add one more pod subscription - particularly when this is the only pod on “I Heart” worth listening to. Fortunately it’s the perfect podcast for times when I can hit the FF button, like cleaning and playing fetch with my dog. As for the dorks complaining about liberalism and use of the F word, clearly (shocker!) this wasn’t made for you! There are plenty of MAGA friendly sources of biased “history” out there perfect for you pea-brained ninnies to lap up.

    Excellent and informative!
Ed is so thorough and entertaining. Can’t wait for more seasons to be released.

    History that is captivating !
Surprisingly entertaining and educational if you enjoy history + spontaneous humor.

    Interesting
I’m just about finished with season 1. Well researched. Comprehensive. Really like Ed Helms but the show tries too hard to be funny.

    Great podcast!
So far I’ve listened to the first 2 seasons and it is simultaneously very interesting and very terrifying. Keep up the great work Ed and creators!

    More than you would expect
This podcast is a super entertaining opportunity to learn about issues in history that might be considered minor but are really important. Also, I repeat, super entertaining! I love a chance to both learn something while being thoroughly entertained. Clever, well written and really worth your time. Thanks to Ed Helms and all his contributors. Love the work and looking forward to future seasons.

    Breath of Fresh Air Ironically
With so much garbage taking up the library of available podcasts, it’s refreshing to find one that is solid. If Ed Helms were a teacher, everyone would fight to take his history class. The writers do an excellent job compiling historical events in ways that are captivating, and Ed makes history come alive with his narration.

    The Perfect Podcast
I hadn’t heard of this podcast until I got tickets to see Ed talk about it in DC last week. I’m a major history nerd and particularly obsessed with Cold War lunacy. I just binged all of season 1 in a few days. SO GOOD. The format is great, the story telling is great. I can’t wait to listen to the other two seasons and see what else is in store! What a great find!!

    Another disappointing…
…constant use of the f word. You’d think an actor could get someone to write/suggest a less offensive word

    Thanks Ed!
I’ve only listened to the second season of SNAFU (so far) and I’m incredibly happy to have done so (I’m on episode 7 - about the Church committee and what it revealed). Ed Helms tells the story of the eventual hauling of J. Edgar Hoover off a pedestal to which he had no right being elevated. He dispels myths with wit and something akin to glee, sets the record straight about the much maligned Black Panther Party, and recounts the history that revealed how incredibly corrupt Hoover and his FBI were. Bless the Media 9 and the incredibly revealing and beneficial Pandora’s Box they opened, and all the brave Americans and who worked so hard to lay the truth out for all to see. This is a story that needs to be recounted as often and as loud as possible, especially now when the Trump regime wants to bring about an society even more crushing than the one Hoover was trying with all his might to achieve. Thanks Ed!

    Absolutely recommend for history buffs
I’m really enjoying this one - ugly truths about the government? Just what we need now! Great info & a great show!

    The Best
We have been denied and deprived of the most fascinating parts of the history we thought we knew. Thanks Ed, for righting this wrong against our birthright, in the most entertaining and delightful way.

    What a find!
So glad I heard a promo for this podcast. I’ve been binging Season 3, and definitely will go to the beginning, and listen to seasons 1 & 2. Who knew that there was so much to the prohibition?! Ed Helms is a natural with the story telling; putting humor and odd facts into each episode. Definitely a must listen to podcast!

    Well-presented look at history
Both history buffs and average listeners will be entertained by both Ed and the production. Enticing true stories that keep you on the edge of your seat without being repetitive. A must listen.

    Great paid
    Really enjoying this! Thanks!

    So dissapointing
Absolutely not necessary to use the foul language. A great subject that I am interested in. Just can’t stand the immature use of curse words.

    Awesome just awesome!!
You are just a beautiful human! Love hearing you and the stories! Keep it up and thank you for being You!!
  • NevrFail
    Very well done!!
Ed Helms you are the most talented man ever! There's nothing you can't do and do very well. I've been listening to podcasts for 10 years and your storytelling is among the very best!!!
  • tsmiglet
Nice if you like podcast with your ads
I like the show a lot but it feels like there are more ads than podcast which is very frustrating. The stories are fun and Ed does a good job of narrating but just get ready to hit skip about 20 times.

    Entertaining and Informative
I’ve seen numerous shows about Prohibition, but I’ve never heard this story. I learned a lot from this show and was entertained as well. Some historical podcast are too dry and fact-packed, and too long. This one was the perfect length. Thank you! Can you research and report on other laws that didn’t work and had unintended consequences?
  • Need_to_Git_Help
    SNAFU is for You!
I’m here to annoy anyone who is low balling the score based on saying something is what it is. Sorry not sorry.
  • I'm Not Rumplestiltskin!
I gave this 5 stars because I like Ed Helms as an actor but…
I gave this 5 stars because I like Ed Helms as an actor but this storytelling format is best left to Ira Glass et al at This American Life who get to the point poignantly. Forty-five minutes into Season 1 Episode 1 and the big reveal is… stay tuned for the next episode making this a 3/4 hour teaser.

    What a ride
Edit: Season 3!! This has to be my favorite podcast in production. I’m so glad it’s back! Love Ed Helms, and love what he’s done with this podcast. Informative and funny, this season was a lot of fun to listen to. Especially loved the bonus episode with Rachel Maddow. Can’t wait to see what next season brings us!
  • Grade6ref
    Went downhill
Loved the show until the JD Vance episode keep and then the pablum puking liberal lies started. It’s a shame you’ve got a good thing going then ruined it.

    History with Heart and Humor!
More poignant than ever. We may be entering a new era of Cointelpro. I thought we were beginning to live MLK’s dream, instead we are repeating the nightmares of the past. We shall overcome!

    Well done! 👏👏👏
One of my all time favorite podcasts!! Beautifully researched and expertly executed. Thank you!

Really well written and the production quality is palpable. An excellent listen.

    Fun and Thought-provoking
Well researched and engaging. Ed Helms does a good job keeping things light without going overboard with jokes. The audio is well-mixed so the only time your ears might get annoyed is from interviews where the interviewee has a scratchy voice, but not much to do about that.
  • Master_Marksman
    Season 2 was incredible!
Such a massive step up in quality, consistency, and pacing in season 2! Ed and his team tell an amazing story chalk-full of primary source material and interviews with the people involved in Medburg, and they really land the plane in terms of relating to our world today. I’d recommend Season 2 to anyone and I learned a lot with a grin on my face. Superb!
  • Bof99
    Amazing
I loved Season 2 - so relevant, so moving! Great journalism, great storytelling! Please create many more seasons!

    Mentally Enchanted Audience
I love history but couldn’t find a podcast that kept me engaged till now. I want more!
  • We're so hungry
    Interesting but over produced
The content is really interesting, but like a lot of I heart productions, there’s a certain element that’s a little grating. If someone else was narrating, it would be five stars
  • buuby300
    Super good
Love this pod, greatly! Worth every second. Wish it could never end.
  • Raptor052590
    Love this show!
Absolutely love this show, always super well done. But for some reason, episode 1 of the new season is SUPER quiet. But other than that, the episode was fantastic.

    Best podcast available
Ed Helms is funny, interesting and insightful with a charming delivery. I had never awareness of the topics for seasons 1-2 but now I can’t wait for season 3!!!

    LOVE this podcast!
As someone who lives with the Vietnam war daily through my PTSD veteran spouse, it was incredibly emotional to hear this story from the courageous activists. A cautionary tale for those supporting politicians who would encourage or recreate a “Hoover” atmosphere in our country.
  • Karassong
Great podcast! And a thank you
Hey friends, I’m really loving the podcast. The topics you’ve chosen so far are so important. Ed deserved a better interview on the Daily Show, cuz you’ve really got a great thing going here.

    The Truth Hurts but 🤷‍♀️
Having lived during these episodes as an ordinary working woman, I am rarely surprised but, when journalism was ‘real’ in the USA it sent shockwaves across the nation. Nothing is ever as the government wants us to believe. Thank you Ed and team !! Cynthia Ps. I am 76

    Mind Blowing and Binge-worthy
I stumbled across this podcast and binged the first season in a week. I found it entertaining, informative and shocking. I liked the mix of the host and interviews with the people involved. This is the type of information that isn’t shared in schools but is vital for people to share, and learn from. Thank you!

    I Need More!
Typically media in this genre scares me, filling me a sense of impending doom. However, there’s something about Ed Helms’ delivery that makes me so entertained to learn about these important moments in our history that I feel too few know about. I have spent the past week listening to Season 2 and then Season 1 after hearing about it on the Office Ladies podcast. I don’t know when another season is happening, but I am very much so looking forward to it. Great work, and thank you!

    Keep It Coming!
I listened to season 1 and 2, in 3 days! Each episode left me eagerly waiting for the next one. Can’t wait to see what season 3 will be about! Ed Helms is very funny and engaging and I love learning about history that I never knew!
  • Aethelstan972
    Spoonful of sugar
This is the way! Great pod with vital subject matter. The title is so mismatched I have to assume that it’s intentionally so.
  • Dholes82
Season One Tiresome Lack of Objectivity
Ed Helms is an engaging performer and I was looking forward to checking out this take on the Able Archer story. What a disappointment! What could’ve been an informative listen quickly devolves into blatant distortions and political bias! There is solid info to be gleaned here on a fascinating subject but don’t go in expecting an objective viewpoint.

    Season 2
Such a gripping accounting of Hoover’s FBI. I couldn’t stop listening to it! I grew up during those times but was not aware of this incredible story! I hope history doesn’t repeat itself.
