Drama #216

'ICE-CREAM' follows 14 year old Elgin Foster, who spends the summer of 1988 with his younger brother Dustin, at his newly divorced father's house in Arizona. Not long after arriving, he begins to witness a series of child abductions by the local ice cream truck man. Nobody believes Elgin, not even the police, which leads him to question if what he saw was even real or the result of a recent concussion. Fall down the rabbit hole with Elgin and neighbor Olivia, as they do their own investigation to try and uncover who the ice cream man really is and what he is doing to these missing children. What they begin to discover, however, is beyond horrifying...

A horror delight for fans of Stephen King genre stories
SUMMARY: A 1988, bike-riding mystery as two teens in Arizona try to solve the mystery of a string of child abductions with an ice cream truck man as the primary suspect. SOUND DESIGN: Late 80s synth music, plus “demonic” ice cream jingles. ACTING: Great job all around with adult, teen and child actors acting with gusto, range and focus. In a horror genre audio drama you want blood curdling screams, and those are present here. As well as family banter too. Two thumbs up for the actor who played teenage lead Elgin with serious and believability while the character’s pleas to law enforcement falls on deaf ears. CRITICISM: I don’t quite buy the pigheadedness of the adults or the police. But I was personally able to suspend my belief because of the steady pace of the narrative moving things along, as well as the impressive acting moments. AUDIENCE: If you’re looking for a Stephen King-like thriller with dark fantasy horror elements, this is for you!

    Truly a unique audio experience
I never thought an audio-movie like this would blow me away. But this did. Binged it on Halloween and what a FREAKIN vibe. 1980s-esk...meets IT from Stephen King meets Netflix's Stranger Things. What a ride. Thank you for this show!! Looking forward to their new show Supermarket

I have listened to it 3 times already....
I really don't know what to say other than this is some really well crafted, elite, podcast work. It's so immersive and rich and really does feel like I'm watching a movie. It's cinematic and I think that's what makes this high tier from the rest. The acting, writing and directing is also phenominal - bravo

    This sounds freaking Expensive
Not only is the acting, the music and the sound design absolutely spectacular but this entire show just sounds so...EXPENSIVE! Like truly eargasmic and so detailed. I'm obsessed. Not to mention, like I said, the talent on this is outstanding. Can't wait for future episodes.

    CHILLING!!!
If you love horror, check this out!! from the first few minutes, I was completely drawn in. I had chills listening and despite it being a podcast the imagery was so bold. I could picture every last scene, from every creak in the floorboards to the smell of dripping ice cream. Not to mention that nostalgic ice cream song that brings you back to your childhood. I’ll never listen to that song the same way again. The acting is phenomenal, and the production is state of the art. You won’t regret listening!
