Booked Up with Jen Taub features intimate interviews with nonfiction authors. Jen’s guests include writers of current bestsellers and beloved backlist books. Conversations cover love, money, politics, early dreams, writing habits, reading tastes, procrastination techniques, self-doubt, and news of the day.Creator and host, Jen Taub is a law professor, advocate, and author. Her nonfiction books include BIG DIRTY MONEY (Viking 2020) and OTHER PEOPLE’S HOUSES (Yale Press 2014). She focuses on “follow the money” matters— promoting transparency and opposing corruption.Jen’s favorite poem is Prufrock (and yes she knows that Eliot held abhorrent views. She contains multitudes and can separate the dancer from the dance.)Taub was the Bruce W. Scott Shapiro
What a great interview with Scott Shapiro on hacking. I also loved your comment, “I resemble that remark.” Reminds me of my ex-father-in-law (if that’s a term). He said that often. Also, “It’s nice to have you over with.”

    Insightful!
Although I read on a wide range of subjects both fiction and nonfiction, obviously I can’t get to everything. Thankfully, we have Jen Taub and her awesome podcast to fill in gaps or to inspire us to read more. Really liked the Elie Honig episode. Knowledge is power and now more crucial than ever. -DanInTennessee

Excellent but Jen interrupts too much
I found Jen via Mary Trump. This podcast would get 5 stars if Jen didn’t interrupt her guests so much. Don’t get me wrong - I love the idea of this podcast because it is only about non-fiction material. However, Jen’s constant “stop right there” interruptions get annoying. I think she did this with Wajahat Ali two dozen times, and she’s doing it again in the literary agents episode. It’s probably due to her lawyer background - constantly asking questions and follow ups, asking people to go back to something.

    Thoroughly Entertaining
I really enjoyed the conversation with Wajahat Ali. This podcast never disappoints, but I particularly enjoyed hearing the chat with Waj. He’s one of my favorites!

    Impressed with Variety of Topics
I have so far been impressed with the variety of topics explored. The authors, discussions, and commentary are thoughtful, insightful, and ultimately entertaining. I have been motivated to pick up books and investigate ideas and topics I might not have chosen.

I love listening to deep dive conversations with authors, both the ones I’ve heard of, and especially the ones I have not!

    Unpretentious Intellectual Conversations
Even though I have not gotten to all of the books, I just love how much I learn from Jen and her guests. Get into it. You will love it too. Sidebar: Hands down the best intro music on a podcast.

    Excellent economic educational information
This book is now available in a young adult version. There are important plans to make this available to children deprived of libraries. So many voters will benefit from making wise choices after reading the book!

    Heather McGhee
I am so glad you interviewed Heather McGhee. I read The Sum of Us when it first came out and it shifted the way I think about so many things. Any way to spread the word about her ideas and what is possible sounds good to me. Thank you for a great podcast - we need more people reading all of these books!

    Fabulous listen!
Listened to this by chance and wow! What a wonderful format. It was just like sitting in a room with these 2 marvelous, yet typical women . Thank you for this.

    Great interview
I love learning about the wriring process. Also your style of interviewing - just two friends talking after the other guests have left - is more revealing and makes me feel like I have the previledge of being one of the remaining friends.
