BigTLBoth excellent and not so great. The subject matter of this podcast is really interesting! I love hearing the studies that are being done about Digital Folklore both current and throughout the decades. What I don't love is the hosts approach to their topics. They approach the subject of each podcast with a fictional story and then interrupt that story to focus on the topic of their episode. I find the fictional stories distracting and not well done. At this point I'm just skipping through the stories to get to the actual subject of the podcasts. I wish they would stop telling the stories.

Mysteries & True Crime!Love it!!!Just found this from my other fave, American Hysteria.
-
Drox1987Brilliant!Love this show, just found it and it aligns with all my interests, the intersection of tech, folklore, and myth!
-
maxined93Best of Both Worlds!I love educational cultural analysis podcasts and well-produced audio fiction, and Digital Folklore is the best of both! Especially in the second season, the blend of informational interviews and overarching story is exciting and engaging. We really need this information, too—on AI, conspiracy theories, and their impact on our society. A great way to discuss these topics with everyone from your kids to your crazy uncle—but also enjoyable in its own right!

ijohn32The Ghost of Future FolkPerry and Mason make a great team providing us with a cornucopia of folklore and folklorists to the audience. Also a great listen and a great discord to boot.
-
Dee CeaFolklore with LoreLove the combination between lecture style information, vs the in-universe lore that shakes things up and keeps things fresh.

Ellie.TeaLove thisReally good job guys!

Chris.FiebelkornMy new favorite! As a geriatric millennial, I lived through the early days of home computers, the internet and early iCulture. Many of the references here I have memories of (looking at you Satanic Panic!) and hearing how internet culture is helping establish new folklore is really interesting. The hosts are great, the meta during each episode is very clever, and how they pull it all together as well. Highly recommended.

LycidasisdeadNew obsessionFrames already fascinating subject matter in a format that’s deeply engaging and embedded in the internet folklore space. Learn about digital folklore while actively participating in it. Great guests. Super addictive. A hundred stars.

LTC1337Fun take on complex topicsThe format is such an entertaining way to present such nuanced and obscure topics. I find myself in a better mood after listening!
-
jamesheroic56Not your run-of-the-mill showIndeed, the format may not resonate with everyone. However, in my opinion, it's an absolute blast! It's like indulging in ear candy - a guilty pleasure that combines entertainment with learning.
-
FabianVidelaAmazing show!!!I would like to express my appreciation to the creators for taking a chance. With countless podcasts covering similar topics, this one stands out as truly unique. The listening experience is exceptional, making it incredibly enjoyable and even binge-worthy. Perry and Mason have truly crafted something extraordinary with this show. I eagerly anticipate witnessing its growth and evolution in the future.
-
TjvonpGreat research with a surprising formatHeads-up: In addition to the interviews and research, this show has a fictional "audiodrama" frame story. If you go into this expecting your standard "talking heads" informational podcast, you'll end up confused. However, if you want something that's fun, funny, and incredibly well sound-designed, and that is ALSO a well-researched deepdive into the weird corners internet culture, then this show is for you. As of April 2023, I think the most representative episode is aptly called "See For Yourself." Try it out!

JaneTheGhostbusterDrop the dramatized bits PLEASELike many others have commented, I really wanted to like this podcast. I’ve been waiting for deep dives into exactly these topics, similar to what the two hosts did on their guest spot on the Imaginary Worlds podcast. Instead, I’m forced to listen to overly produced and wholly unfunny dramatized bits that are woven throughout the podcast in such a way that I can’t skip them without getting extremely frustrated. I hope the hosts sift through some of the feedback here and try something different in future. I’ll be back if and when that happens — I am fully supportive of the main thesis of the pod!
-
kjfdgCool formatI really enjoy this podcast and the unique format. It’s nice to hear something different. The characters you play, however dramatized or fictional they are, are entertaining. You sometimes cover topics that I wouldn’t normally care much about, but I still find myself looking forward to listening.
-
CrabbybabbyExcited for this!I love this concept! They have great guests and cover really interesting stories. I’m excited for more episodes. Pls talk about Russian Sleep Experiment btw. I’m obsessed; idk why.
-
JmmercerGreat PodI really enjoy listening to this podcast. The content is stellar and the interview portions, though at times a little “sticky” are a great addition. This has quickly become one of my favorite podcasts! Janine The ODDentity Podcast PodMoth Media Network

PeterWallUgh. Trying to be two things at once, and failingI want so badly to like this podcast. The subject of folklore is fascinating, and they have—in little pockets of substantive material—covered some great stuff. But the parts with a fictional frame story into which the substantive material is embedded—no, buried—are just…exceedingly tiresome. Look, if you’re going to do a fiction podcast, do a fiction podcast. I will not listen to that, but surely otherwise will. Or if you want to do a podcast about folklore, then do a podcast about folklore. I would 100% listen to that. But I’ll give it maybe one more episode to get this sorted out before I stop listening.

Vanessa Jones287I have been enjoying this showTruly got immersed in the strange and fun world of FolkLore that Perry and Mason are Creating. Recommended!
-
Fred the Goatherdersuch a creative and cool conceptmaybe I’m the outlier here but I think the starting vignettes are really cool? and I really love the innovative structure. there are SO many pop culture podcasts out there, it is thrilling to hear people shaking up the format and trying new stuff… plus it’s well written, fun hosts, and nerdy in a tremendously enjoyable way!

Jerome Shaw 🤲🏾Revitalizing and fresh!Listened to Episode “Hidden Meanings”. Love the atmosphere of sound and music. The production is very professional and crisp. Really enjoy the playful chemistry of Perry and Mason. As a gamer myself, this podcast plucks a heartstring. A love letter that really connects with collectors of old. Found myself very immersed with the voice acting. Top notch! Also the way we dived into discussion with the developer from ARG. All the transitions make sense and are seamless. Recommend this to gamers and podcast lovers alike. Something new and fresh that we need.

AphsterHas potentialDefinitely has potential as far as the interview segments go. Personally, the dramatization segments aren’t my thing, so I’m gonna give it a few more episodes before I come to the conclusion on whether or not this podcast is for me. It’s just a preference of taste for me, but I’ll admit it is well done.
-
puppyzone2009i like iti mean i like it but it acts kinda serious. lore and unspookable are better if you like scary stories.
-
XXVIHas potentialWhen the hosts drill down on the main content of the episode the podcast is very good. So far the guests have been interesting. The opening vignettes seem out of place and don’t really work for me. I’ll stay subscribed for a while and let the hosts get there sea legs. This has potential to be a keeper.
-
Chris Hacker Valley StudioIncredible show and what a productionI feel like this show takes me on a journey and I am immersed in digital folklore from start to finish. New super fan here!
-
sodarntomFunInteresting topics with entertaining twists and outstanding production value. A super fun listen and you definitely find yourself thinking about the topics after the episode ends.
-
Real Love PunkBe more authenticNo disrespect, but the hosts don't have the comedic chops or the charisma to pull off the banter they inflict on us. The material and guests are top-notch. but please leave your humor to the professionals. Just have a regular conversation about the topic.
-
I hate lines!fascinating & sounds great!!the sound design is truly next level. if you grew up terminally online & live for dramatizing the internet, this show is a must listen!!! obsessed.
-
mspassell90,000 stars!!!!Digital Folklore is unlike any other show. It’s dark, academic, and absolutely hilarious. Perry and Mason aren’t making a podcast. They’re building a world. Enter if you dare!
-
BpwthomasA variety of voices on one subject!I am really enjoying this show so far! I love the way the hosts contextualize the folklore that is popular to us, the folk, while also bringing in some experts to help us get a deeper understanding as well! There is something really enjoyable about the banter and the relationship the hosts have with one another, you can tell that they are friends who are passionate about the subject matter. I am eagerly awaiting the rest of the season!

ChemicallyWritHits all the right notesThis show for me is everything I love in a nonfiction show—scholarly analysis, interviewing experts, excellent sound quality, cryptids and the spooky things that I love but which are taken very seriously. I also adore the inclusion of the scripted audio drama-like elements. The whole show is both fun and kindhearted in a way I love.
-
Herr KopplinThe fake banter is insufferableThe main content of the show is promising and well done but I absolutely cannot stand the fake scripted “banter” from the hosts. It adds nothing, is not delivered convincingly, and detracts from what could be a good experience. Stop overwriting the show and just let the content speak for itself.
-
RelNissSuper creativeI’m impressed by the effort that went into this show!
-
gkbuhlNeat but overproducedFun subject matter and compelling conversation, but has a distracting amount of background audio and editing chicanery. Hoping they ease up on it a bit in the future!
-
BrusselSprout71359A wild rideThe subject matter, storytelling, and the production come together to make the listening experience immersive and fun and fascinating. Can’t wait for more episodes!
