Died and Survived

84

Award-winning British journalist and broadcaster Charlie Webster experienced life after death. After completing a 3000 mile charity cycling challenge from Europe to South America ahead of the 2016 Olympic Games, she became critically ill and was put on life support. Her dire situation made global headlines. But after two weeks in a coma, Charlie made a miraculous recovery that baffled doctors both in Brazil and the UK.
While in the coma, Charlie had an “NDE” – near death experience – in which her mind was very much alive despite her body giving up. Throughout this inspirational eight-part series, Charlie chronicles her profound and captivating experience, sharing vivid memories of being in a coma while doctors worked to save her and family gathered to await her fate, opening up a greater conversation about the afterlife.
Charlie also acts as a detective, piecing together clues to build a bulletproof case as to how to approach death, and how to live in the here and now. She meets with “experiencers” and hears their startling personal encounters with death and the beyond, as well as with experts – scientific and spiritual opinion leaders – who are using hard science and modern technology to gain never-before seen or heard evidence of the afterlife.

    Meh
The subject of the podcast is something I'm very interested in, but I only semi-enjoyed listening. I understand that she had an NDE, but she spends too much time very dramatically talking about herself and turning guest interviews into comparisons with her own experience. I fast forwarded most of the podcast.

    Entertaining Heart Wrenching & Revelatory
Thoughtfully Entertaining While Extremely Thorough in Communicating & Exposing the Character, Activities, & Traumatic Impact of a Manipulative Narcissistic Woman. A must listen to for anyone who is compassionate or involved in any way in relationship with someone like Amanda. Thank you!

    Fascinating and comforting
I am surprised that with such a scary experience and the fact that you’re an atheist you didn’t go and explore religion afterwards. I would suggest you read a fellow journalist’s book, The Case for Christ. He set out to disprove Jesus’s life and Christianity. You deserve better when you leave this earth.

    Very very dark
    I couldn’t finish her story. I really like Charlie’s work but I wish I hadn’t listened to any of this. It’s a TERRIFYING account of a NDE/coma.

Annoying background sound effect distracted from fascinating topic
I am intrigued by the topic and the conversations with guests. I would give a much higher rating if it were not for the distraction of the eerie background sounds which are engineered to induce a fear state in the listener. I was aware of the auditory manipulation but tried to power through the podcast because I really wanted to hear the conversations. If the information is interesting and compelling, there is no need for gimmicky audio background. It just served as a distraction and ultimately an irritating experience when I just wanted to listen to the host and her guests. I would be delighted to hear there is version without the distraction of background effects.

    Scary
Dark entities, strange spirits, paralysis, feelings of panic…. You get the point. This has left me uneasy rather than hopeful. It is decidedly not the feel good, NDE recollection story you’re used to.

    Great content and host
I love this podcast. I love the host, the content, and the way they’ve woven the narrative. I have to say that the sound effects are not my favorite. But again, I love the host and all of the experiences shared. Thank you
