Town Hall: A Black Queer Podcast with Bob the Drag Queen & Peppermint

115

What does it mean to be authentically Black and Queer? Taking care of your mental health is hard enough in today’s current social climate, and belonging to multiple marginalized groups comes with unique challenges. The intersectionality of the Black Queer lived experience can add complexity to the pursuit of love, romance, happiness, and fulfillment. As you know, it takes a village in the modern age, and we are a part of that village. This drives the topics and stories we bring to the table on Town Hall: A Black, Queer Podcast. Let Miss Peppermint (RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 9 runner-up, Broadway Star, musician) and Bob the Drag Queen (RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 8 winner, Host of Sibling Rivalry Podcast, co-host HBO’s We’re Here) be your hosts and guides into real-life, firsthand stories and accounts from the community at large and potentially – you.Every Episode of Town Hall: A Black Queer Podcast, we’ll journey through a theme by sharing stories, music, poetry, and art of varying depth and hilarity. Town Hall: A Black Queer Podcast is dedicated to continuing the work of the Black Queer Town Hall Organization by amplifying Black Queer voices and telling Black Queer stories. This is a Black, Queer podcast. Did we mention—it’s BLACK and QUEER?For advertising opportunities please email PodcastPartnerships@Studio71us.com   We wanna make the podcast even better, help us learn how we can: https://bit.ly/2EcYbu4  Privacy Policy: https://www.studio71.com/terms-and-conditions-use/#Privacy%20Policy

    Love Bob and Peppermint
I’m a big fan of Town Hall, I love hearing the contributor’s stories, opinions, pov, & rants. I don’t always agree with them, but I respect their experiences and commentaries. So far I’ve listened to the series twice and I’m sure a third round is coming soon

Great topics and hosting, questionable guests.
I appreciate bringing on guests with views that maybe be considered controversial or unpopular, but someone needs to take accountability for misinformation they share. Sorry queens.

    I’d rather you didn’t
Well, I was listening along while folding clothes when Pep gave the devastating news that this may be the last show. This show gave me solace in a world where I don’t quite fit in anywhere, and it’s been great hearing different perspectives from people who have had similar experiences and go through a lot of the same things that I do. I hope that this show can somehow continue. Thank you for sharing experiences in the queer BIPOC community.

    Refreshing
I really do enjoy listening to Bob and Peppermint on these difficult topics regarding the queer community. Peppermint is a breath of fresh air to listen to. I really hope the young people are listening. I’m sad the podcast is going away!

    More relevant now than ever
I love this podcast with Bob and Pep. I know it started back in 2020 during the protest but we need podcasts like this to continue because civil rights is not a trend. We need to constantly be reminded and we need to constantly have these discussions going. and I’m glad that they do that.

Big fan of the show, but not always of the audio…
Bob and Peppermint are fantastic and the topics are poignant, but the sound/audio mixing often leaves a lot to be desired. There are times when either Bob, Pep, or one of the guests comes across as far too quiet to be audibly understood. Other than that love the pod!

    Interracial dating.
I feel like there should be a part 2 to that episode. I would love to hear more input by the hosts. Especially, Bob. Sine they were the main target of the twitter discussion.

    ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I love hearing something created specifically for me. I’m so used to not having a home for the things I can relate to so this is so welcome and every story helps me to feel a little more sane!!

    Where is the Interaction?
I adore both Bob and Peppermint together, but I think for those just listening to the podcast (and not the video) need more than have the guest rambling. The hosts need to interact more and have more of a conversation with their guests. There is no acknowledgment (audible) so it feels like the guest is in a room by themselves with a microphone. Nah. This is a bust for me. Podcast is not a visual medium.

I love this podcast. Even with only 2 episodes so far, this podcast has made me smile and cry and feel emotional while listening to the stories of beautiful people. Thank you Bob the Drag Queen and Miss Peppermint for such a clever concept to spread stories on everyday topics in such a impactful way. I enjoyed you both on drag race and now I continue to hear more of you in my life through this podcast.

Bob & Pep. That’s it. That’s the review.
Seriously, I’ve taken in the trailer and already I’m anxiously awaiting two of the most prominent queer black voices of our time. Their views on the culture as it pertains to queer people felt like shelter during the uprise of the pandemic. Their friendship permeated our earbuds and provided comfort while we were stuck inside for gawd knows how long. So again, Bob & Pep. That’s it. That’s the review.
