    so disingenuous
you start off acknowledging that a cap would come with a floor, then spend the entire segment as if it were a cap only. How would a cap get the Reds to try? It wouldn't, that's why there would be a floor to force them to spend. How does the current system force them to spend? It doesn't, and nobody is offering real solutions except the eternal "go yell at your cheap owners" as if that does anything except get your team moved to Vegas/SLC/Sacramento. Funneling more prospects to the "cheap" teams still perpetuates a two tiered system where small market fans know their good players are out the door at the earliest opportunity. I don't think "a different random team gets to luck into the playoffs with the big markets every year" is this great source of joy writers keep pushing it as. Fans see that there are a number of teams that have been bad for a long time, have no chance of being better, and that is permanently depressing interest and losing fans. And no, high ratings for the last World Series doesn't prove fan interest. Good luck trying to convince American fans that MLB doesn't need to change anything because they can just be replaced with Japanese fans.

    Why no NYY coverage?
I find it incredible that a team as active and important as the Yankees gets no coverage on this show. There was recently a huge trade that brought Soto to the team yet the coverage was absolutely minimal. No discussion on Yamamoto or any of the other acquisitions the Yankees are considering. LOTS of coverage on small market teams as well as ad nauseum coverage on Otani sprinkled with self righteous pontificating.

    FINALLY
I’ve been reading Tim and the team at MLBTR for years and they are the absolute best in the Biz. The one thing I always wished we had more of was expert discussion of the many trades, signings, extensions, etc. NOW WE DO! God bless baseball, God bless MLBTR, and God bless the Chicago Cubs.

    Lack of real-world insight
Not a big fan of MLBTR and its “writing” team as none of them have played professional baseball and none of them have any real insight or meaningful connections to front offices. A significant number of MLBTR commenters have just as much “expertise” but are often banned without reason. Anybody can refresh Twitter for another analyst’s rumors to throw together an article. I wish MLBTR was more transparent in their commenting and banning policy. I’ve been banned for just trying to be funny without insulting a single person or group of people. I will never support a level of censorship from a lackluster “writing” team.
