Ice Cold Case

In 2002, my dad was murdered in the doorway of his home. Now, I am ready to find answers to the coldest case in Belmont County, Ohio. This is the story of a daughter desperate for justice, for closure, for someone to care. It doesn't get more personal than this.

    Excellent Podxast
Narrator does a wonderful job explaining everything and has obviously work hard to find out the truth. It is heartbreaking because the narrator is the daughter of the murdered man. But, she keeps an open mind throughout.

    Amazing!
Really loving this podcast. Madison’s storytelling is impeccable. She’s so transparent in her narrating and her dedication into getting justice for her father is paramount. Her personal connection is heartbreaking, but real. Eye opening and factual. I feel like everyone will have something to gain by listening.

    What
This is crazy! I can’t believe this is in my home state. I’m beginning to learn that little ol WV is just as crazy as the rest of the world. We need a change. We need justice. It is not right for criminals and murderers have more protection than law abiding citizens, victims, and their families. Thank you for bringing this awareness and continuing to look for answers and the truth.

A personal look into what “true crime” is
It is very, very easy to fall into the trap of disassociation with true crime — very easy to create distance from what people really go through when an unsolved murder starts to define their life. Madison breaks through all of that and tells this immensely personal and deeply powerful story about her father. Someone complicated and deeply loved, who never got justice.

    A must-listen!
Ice Cold Case is a gripping, heartfelt journey where you’re not just listening—you’re sleuthing right alongside the host. She’s not a detective, but her determination and storytelling pull you in as she unravels the mystery of her dad’s murder. Every episode leaves you hanging, eager for the next twist. You’ll theorize like you’re part of the case. True crime fans, this one’s a must-listen!

    Pulled in from the start
I was pulled in from the beginning with the story telling Madison brought to this podcast. Her dad’s murder is still unsolved, but with the work she’s putting in, I believe she could solve his case.

★★★★★ Ice Cold Case is a powerful and deeply personal true crime podcast. Madison’s journey to uncover the truth about her father’s unsolved murder is both heartbreaking and gripping. Her storytelling is honest and thorough, drawing you in with every detail. A compelling listen that stays with you long after each episode ends.

    I LOVE THIS PODCAST
Every episode I am on the edge of my seat with anticipation! Madison is a master at weaving enthralling story telling, real investigative work, and vulnerable personal trauma all into one compelling podcast. For fans of true crime and those who might be interested in expanding into the genre, it does not get better than this! Also- the voice over talent is top notch.

    I love your podcast!
I absolutely love that you had the tenacity to even start this journey and then did a podcast. I’m glued to this podcast and can’t wait for the next episodes. You’re amazing!

So proud of this WVian podcaster
As a fellow West Virginian, listening to this podcast, my heart aches for your family. Hearing your story, especially after it was brought to my attention through Sarah Turney's episode, has left me profoundly saddened. There's a particular weight to tragedy when it strikes so close to home, and as a Parkersburg native, I feel that connection keenly. I can only imagine the enduring pain and the tireless search for answers you've endured. Please know that even as a stranger, I hold you and your family in my thoughts, and I truly hope that one day, you find the resolution and peace you so desperately deserve.

    Good until…
I liked this podcast until Madison showed her serious lack of knowledge of how police work. It would really serve her well in this endeavor to work with police to learn the basics of police work.
  • Kjames9
    Very repetitive
Madison is well spoken but the podcast repeats the same thing in every single episode. It’s a repeat of “I have to solve this case” “the police didn’t do all they could have”. This could have been 1-3 episodes TOPS. I started season 2 (because I’m wondering if she is going to actually say something) and it’s the same repetitive nature as season 1.

    The best true crime podcast
This podcast is different than any other true crime pod! The host is so well spoken and I love the personal connection. I’ve been telling all of my friends to listen and I’ll continue to share with everyone I know! Xx

    Are You Kidding Me?
When it comes to podcasts, what separates the good ones from the GREAT ones is storytelling and Madison McGhee was born to tell stories. How many adjectives do you need to press play and spread the word? Riveting, suspenseful, informative, emotional, beautiful. This series has all of that and more. If you’re looking to treat your ears to something delightful and perfect, look no further. This lady is going ALL of the places

Here from the fall line. Loving it
  • Sick of Repeats
    Repeats, Repeats, More Repeats
I had to keep checking I wasn’t listening an episode I’d listened to before there were so many repeats of interviews and the author’s own words. I don’t enjoy the author’s delusions about the legacy of crime her father’s enormous family were involved in.
  • jermsladybug
    Keep going!
You've got this! No family should have to go through what you have/are to get answers, and hopefully justice. I can't wait to see where Season 3 takes you.

As someone who lives in Ohio, I am angered and feel for you.
Madison, your podcast really resonated with me, especially as someone who lives in Ohio as well. I admire your strength and determination. I hope one day you’re able to find closure and answers. Sending you love and peace. 🤍🫶🏻

    Good to start
This was such a good podcast at first. It really pulled me in and I was so interested. As the episodes continued it became very repetitive and there was no new information shared, I could not tell where or if the story was leading up to anything. Overall you really only need to listen to the first couple episodes.
  • Laleesha
Shocking - thinks police are racist…
Made it to episode 5 before she accuses all the CURRENT police officers of being racist for a murder that took place 30 years ago.
  • vhhhkkkkoii
    Regretfully stayed till episode nine
This is a two or three episode story

    I’m angry ALONGSIDE you
Madison, I was led here by an interview you had with Payne Lindsay. I hear you and I am with you. I am so sorry for your loss and for the lack of support from your family in solving this case. I’m experiencing a similar situation in my family regarding a newborn being exposed to fentanyl. I have investigated the heck out of it on my own including the years of abuse leading up to it. I need answers and I need people to be held accountable. I feel alone in that everyone else seems to want me to let it go. The child is irreparably harmed and so am I. I will NEVER let it go. KEEP UP THE HARD WORK!
  • Magenta532
Good story presentation, episodes are nearly the same info
I tend to agree with OkieArkansas with one exception. A lot of material is regurgitated in every episode. My advice is to condense. I stopped listening due to limited new story info in subsequent episodes. I’ll most likely start again in future. Good luck.
  • scarborm
    Disappointing
Podcaster makes far too many assumptions and uses woke ideology to make her story fit a false narrative.
  • sesswea
    Where are the facts?
The first half of this podcast was very compelling but since then I feel like it could all be maybe two episodes. The narrator is repeating and repeating and repeating herself with no additional evidence discussed and it is incredibly annoying and frustrating. The same points are made over and again. Get to the point or provide some new information. Something.
  • Optimistic pessimist 3
It’s not up to suspects to prove they didn’t do it.
While I understand from a family standpoint where the host is coming from, she doesn’t seem to truly understand our justice system. It’s not up to a potential person of interest to prove they didn’t do it. It’s up to the police to prove a suspect is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Unfortunately, it sounds like without a confession backed by what little evidence exists, due to the lack of competent police work during the original investigation, this will be nearly impossible for this case to ever truly be solved.

    Could use a volume fix
Good show but honestly the volume is awful. Some parts are so quiet and then after turning it up so loud!!
  • OkieArkansas
    Perfect Story Teller
I’m new to this specific podcast & host. I became instantly hooked! She has a great voice for the listeners. She tells her story in such a good way for the ppl who don’t know. I love her Titles for each episode & how it connects so well by the end of it. Love her! 10/10 recommend. 💜

An incredibly empowered and hardworking victim tells her story
An incredibly empowered and hardworking victim tells her story. Keep up the great work and the relentless pressure on the police, the county and your family. I hope you solve your father’s ice cold case soon!

    Good job
I think you have done a great job! I'm sorry for your families loss.

    Such a well done show
I just finished and I loved it. Binged it in like two days. I listen to a lot of true crime and this was very different. I know you’re not a journalist, but you seem to be a good investigator. I’m sure you’ll continue to get better. I have a lot of respect for you having to go through some hard and complicated moments as this is your family. Ending the show with no one deserves to get murdered was perfect. Because that’s really the whole point. He deserved better, and so did you and your sister.
  • Becka212
    Sound issues
This show is really good and I think you’re amazing but I’m begging you (Begging. You.) to get someone to even out the sound. When you cut between interviews and you talking, one is easily 100% louder than the other - and it’s not even always the same one! I am driving with my hand literally on the volume button to bump the quiet parts up to 35-40 and then super fast bump the loud parts back down to a normal listening volume of 18-22 before either my speakers or my eardrums blow. I tried listening on headphones once and I literally ended up ripping them off my head and throwing them across the room when a commercial or normal volume segment hit so that I wouldn’t have blood coming out my ears! I really want to hear what happens so this is so so so frustrating. I hope you find the killer and get justice (but please fix the sound so I can hear about it when you do)

    Heartbreaking
This podcast is heartbreaking on so many levels. Madison is NOT a professional podcaster and this is not a podcast made for entertainment purposes. This podcast was made out of necessity to find Madison’s father. Listen with that in mind. It’s such an important story and really intriguing. Can’t wait to hear how things all turn out. Hoping for answers for Madison.
  • CrazyDaisy76
    Definitely add to your playlist
I found this podcast while traveling on vacation. I cannot fathom my father being murdered and then trying to solve it myself. The emotional toll and struggle this must take is beyond my understanding. I am praying for closure for you. Thank you for opening up your life for us to listen to.
  • Smiler an
    Redundant
15 episodes that repeat 3 or 4 facts over and o er and over and over. Listen to the last episodes if you’re interested enough. Skip the mind boggling numbness of listening to the same five minutes over and over and over… This women is not two things. She is not an investigator and she is not a journalist. She is absolutely not an investigative journalist.

    A must listen to podcast
Madison, this podcast has me hooked. I am so sorry that you went through this tragedy. Your dad would be so proud of you. You tell this story perfectly. I really hope when this podcast is done you continue to do more cold cases, because you do such a fabulous job. Thanks for sharing your story.
  • Debjms
    I just can’t anymore…
…the repetitiveness; the sllllooooowww, “dramatic” phrasing; the declarations of “tell what you know before I find out for myself!” Find out yourself already. Enough with 18 episode to say, “I don’t know and nobody will tell me.” Moving on to something else.
  • Engman19
    Decent
Little over the top with the racist cop commentary… but overall decently done.
