Never thought my 5th grade science teacher would make such a good podcast. Love what you guys are doing and keep with the great work!

Not so techno or retro anymore
I loved the old show...I get that things change. This last year has been hard to listen to and the 12 minutes of the new show...well it’s not what I signed up for.

One listen leads to a hundred more
What a great show. I started listening about a year ago, then went back and listened to all the old ones. They talk about new stuff thats related to the old stuff we love, the old stuff we forgot we loved, and everything connected to it. All with a sense of humor, nostalgia, and kindness that is sorely needed. For an hour or so each week you can listen to instant friends talk about the best times and memories of your life. The dad jokes are terribly bad in the best way, and who doesn't love cereal? Retro video games, t.v., movies, books, and life experiences, all talked about in a relatable way. Give it a few listens, and you'll wonder how you got through the week without it!

    Great great show!
If you cannot get NEW episodes of Geek out Loud then definitely give these guys a listen! Growing up in rural central Illinois and being the the oldest child / cousin I didn’t have some one to share geekdom with. Techno Retro Dads has only grown my fandoms and I’ve been able to share that with my son, so I applaud y’all for that!

    Positive nostalgia at its best!
If you get up sometime in the 70s and 80s, or early 90s (or just appreciate the pop culture of that time) this is the podcast you’re looking for! The hosts have great chemistry (including the current substitute host) and are always talking the great things we grew up with... Star Wars, Saturday morning cartoons, arcade games, Atari, Nintendo, superheroes, toys we grew up with, 70s and 80s movies, tv, and music, and of course cereal. Nothing from their (our) childhood is off limits. The best part of it all is the overwhelming positivity and fun that each episode brings. These guys never hate on things they don’t enjoy. What a refreshing difference compared to most of the other podcasts out there! The production quality is also much better than a lot of other podcasts. Download an episode...you won’t be disappointed!

Love you guys, especially liked your last episode about Mad & Weird Al. All a big part of my childhood. Love the fact that you guys mentioned Dr Demento. I always tell people I used to listen to his show on the radio when I was a kid and they are like who? And look at me like I’m an alien. I’m glad someone rememberers that show. Anyhow love the show and all the nostalgia from my childhood. By the way I grew up in Colorado till I was 15. I’m a 70s child too. So I could have ran into you guys along the way when we we younger.

More fun than a barrel of monkeys!
Update: I have continued to listen to this show since the beginning. TRDads don’t disappoint in keeping a fun and fresh show each week. It reminds me a lot of the variety shows of old, when life seemed simpler. If you are looking for a break from the everyday this is the place to be. ..... If your looking for a place to fit in, where life is fun again, and where everybody knows your name, Technoretro Dads is the place to be! I look forward to this podcast every week. You learn a little, reminisce a bit, and laugh a lot (even to the corny jokes 😃). I have had the honor of meeting the hosts of the show and they are as good a couple of guys that you could ever meet and they bring it to every show. This is one podcast to not miss out on. Long lost friends
I have been listening to this podcast for 3 to 4 years. I love it! I feel like I know these guys and like they are my long lost friends! I look forward to it every week. They are so interactive with their audience, and in touch with our thoughts and comments. Since listening to this podcast, I have overdosed on my sugar intake! My wife shakes her head every time I come home with a box of cereal! Go Techno Retro!

    Best of the 80s
The 80s are often only remembered for one hit wonders and John Hughes movies, but thanks to Shaz and Shua, the 80s are honored for their bad commercials, clunky toys and crazy animated tv shows... and of course, one hit wonders and John Hughes movies. And He Man and GI Joe and Transformers and KRULL... KRRRUUULLLLLL. There needs to be a KrullCast, but I digress. This is a great podcast, the guys are obviously fans of what they speak of, and Star Wars couldnt find more love anywhere on the internet. Thanks guys and keep it up!

A ray of sunshine from the glory days of our Gen-X childhood
I have eaten more sugary cereal since I started listening to this podcast than I have for the past decade. And I love it. All Things Retro Podcasters Shazbazzar and JediShua (AKA TK and TK2) are a few years younger than my fifty, but together, we are brethren. We grew up in the 1970s and 1980s when Saturday morning meant only one thing--cartoons!--there was only a single Star Wars film, and only three networks. It was the age of toys, toys, toys, and awesome cereal aimed precisely at kids. It was a great time to be a kid, and these dads share the love with each other, their families, and all the Earbuds (their affectionate nickname for fans of the show). A Typical Episode is a Mini Variety Show I'm not entirely sure how I stumbled onto this show, but it took only one episode for me to become hooked. Shazbazzar hails from Alabama while JediShua lives "a mile high in the sky" in Colorado. New episodes drop on Monday morning. Each week is themed and they focus on a particular aspect of something we Gen Xers remembered. This week was Batman (since nearly everything this week was Bat-themed). Almost always, the main focus marks some sort of anniversary, like this week with Batman's 80th birthday. But before they reach the meat of the show, there is news. Some of it is of the personal variety. They are, after all, dads. It's right there in the title. They talk about their kids or some other neat little retro item. Then, as they segue to the geek news of the week, they have what I've come to really enjoy: back and forth jokes. Again, just like a variety show, one of them will provide the setup and the other the punchline. And, these jokes are almost always relating to the week's theme. Each week, my own family has learned I come home at the end of my workday with my phone in hand, ready to play the joke segment. The Awesomeness of Cereal In just about every episode, there is some sort of news about cereal, be it a new flavor of a legacy cereal, a new cereal to stand alongside all the brands we've come to love, or just a memory. Leading into this segment is a particular theme song. Not sure if they made it or if an Earbud did, but it always brings a smile to my face. Like I wrote at the top, I've started buying cereal again. I'm pretty strict with my diet during the weekdays--I avoid sugar crashes at work by not having any--but as this year rolled around, I've been bringing home boxes of Captain Crunch or the smaller single varieties of Frosted Flakes or Fruit Loops. Why? Specifically because of the joy Shazbazzar and JediShua share in their love of cereal. Heck, I even went out and bought the new Hostess Honey Bun cereal just to taste it. Now, I'm actually slowing down on the cereal aisle, looking at all the boxes I so recently glazed over. Saturday Mornings Were Nirvana Speaking of theme songs, the tune that leads into the Saturday morning cartoon segment could have easily been pulled from season 2 of Scooby Doo. Remember the times when the crazy monster would chase the Scooby Gang and a song would break out? That's what I'm talking about. The vibe is spot on. In this segment, Shazbazzar and JediShua chat about various Saturday morning cartoons they loved. Being a few years younger than me, their Saturday mornings went into the 80s, but it's still fun to hear them wax nostalgic. What have I done as a direct result of this segment? Spent some Saturday mornings watching cartoons. Eating cereal. Yeah, it's great. High Quality Each Week I'm not too sure how much time it takes for these two to record and produce a 77-minute podcast every week, but the production level is high. Background music, canned laughter, and great sound make listening to each episode a happy one. And there's new banner art every week, also keyed with the week's theme. It's a lot of work, but you can tell it's work they love. RetroZap Network The TechnoRetro Dads podcast is part of the RetroZap Network. I could summarize what they have to offer, but that would be an entirely new blog post. Better you just head over there yourself and see if any of the podcasts and articles strike your fancy. If you love the stuff I write about and Shazbazzar and JediShua talk about each week, you'll find something to love. A Weekly Habit I've enjoyed this podcast from the day I listened to my first episode. It is my favorite weekly podcast, and a Monday just isn't a Monday without Shazbazzar and JediShua. TechnoRetro Dads is a clean, positive ray of sunshine from the glory days of our Gen-X childhood, a reminder of how good we had it back then, and how awesome we Earbuds have it today. I highly recommend this podcast.

    TechnoRetro Retro-mania Fun!!!
In a galaxy far, far away or driving down the highway of time in a 1.21 gigawatt electric fueled DeLorean you won’t find any better retro-infused retrospective on TechnoRetro. Jedishua and Shazbazzar, the Pundits of the Past, help you avoid the noid of not remembering. They feed you the knowledge you need when you’re dancin’ a hoedown and you’re boots kinda slow down, or anytime you’re weak in the knees. Millions of Weepuls can’t be wrong! If Mikey likes it then you will too! Read the book... err.... I mean, listen to the podcast!!! You won’t be saying where’s the beef? It’s surreal or is it cereal... Because once you pop, you can’t stop!! Now you’re playing with power!!

I was grew up in the 80’s, love to eat cereal, and love superhero films. This show is right up my alley. They have great topics and great sound effects. I initially found this podcast from the Agents of Shield podcast that one of the host also does. Since I subscribed, I never missed a week. Hit the subscribe button, you won’t regret it.

    Like Old Friends
The reason is love this show is for 1 simple reason: it is like reminiscing with old friends (and I mean "old" as in I've known a long time, not as in physical age, but let's face it, we're ALL not getting any younger). Being about the same age as Shua and Shazz (I was born in 1973), it's so much fun going down memory lane with these 2 with the same fervor and excitement that I still possess for all this retro pop culture. On more than one occasion, they've made me revisit some things that I passed over or just didn't like from the past with new eyes, finding that I now enjoy them. I look forward to every Monday (well, almost every Monday :P) getting a new episode of this great show appear in my podcast feed. Keep up the "totally tubular" and "radical" job guys, for sure!

I can't wait for Mondays knowing that my newest Technoretro Dads podcast is downloaded on my computer! Shazbazzar and JediShua take me and their listeners on a weekly journey back to 1977 (70's and 80's) to relive the popculture of our youth. A wonderful family oriented show that you can share with your children. It's Monday and I can't wait for next Monday!

One of the Very Best Out There...and Boy, is it Out There!
There are very few podcasts I go out of my way to listen to every week. This is one of them. Funny, creative, well-produced, smart and never predictable, TRD is a wonderfully fun, energetic shot in the arm of pop culture past every week!

    Awesome Podcast!
Found TechnoRetro Dads via The Big Honkin' Show. Shazbazzar and JediShua put out a well-produced show that rivals any podcast out there. I am a big fan of how they incorporate old commercials into the podcast. The TechnoRetro Dads podcast covers all the stuff I loved as a kid growing up in the 80s. Despite not being part of the Goliverse, this show is well worth adding to your podcast rotation :) Shane in GR

    Retro-tastic!
I've been aware of these two gentlemen for years, going all the way back to the early days of another podcast, The ForceCast. Back in the nearly-forgotten era of the aughts when Palpatine went shirtless and vintage boxes of C-3POs cearal were known to be coma-inducing, Shazbazzar and JediShua were a big part of the community that formed around the one Star Wars podcast that would soon come to rule the galaxy. Jump ahead to the present and these guys are podcasting royalty in their own right, covering all sorts of geeky topics from their particular dad-view. As a geeky child of the seventies and also a father, I'm something of a technoretro dad myself and can relate to their experiences with the various topics discussed. Fact: podcasting is HARD. These guys make it seem effortless, and are a pure joy to listen to each week. Podcasters like Shua, Shaz, Steve Glosson, Jason Swank and Jimmy Mac,and Joe Tavano and Chris Salton are producing some of the best geek-related content (always with a positive outlook) on the internet. Hondo gives this show his highest recommendation.

    Awesome show!
I look forward to every episode and I especially like the ones that are focused on retro topics like toys that were popular in the 70s and 80s, movies, and television shows (like the Monkees)of the past. Always like the topic of cereal. My favorites were Apple Jacks and BooBerry! Thanks for making such an entertaining show! I feel the need to watch some Saturday morning cartoons and petition for there to be a Tron 3! Best wishes, Steve

    Bridges between the Generations
Although I am way to young for some of the topics of the show, I still look forward to listening every Monday! The bridge that Shua and Shaz build between the different generations of fans (intentional or not) is what makes me such a happy earbud! The fact the show covers the "old" and the "new" and how they are both great is just what this young geek needs! You guys are great!

I started listening to these guys regularly a few months, and I haven't missed an episode since. Every show brings back memories of toys, shows, movies, etc from my childhood as well as current news that I'm interested in. These guys are hilarious, creative, and the best is they bring their own kids in to comment on the things we enjoyed when we were kids. Excellent!!

    Perfect Fit
Heard these guys as guests on a few Star Wars podcascts. Heard the name of theirs and thought, I like techno, I like retro, I am a dad. Seemed like the perfect fit. I subscribed and went back to the beginning and binge listened to all the episodes. Finally caught up and now find it difficult to wait a whole week for a new episode. I emailed them a question regarding a song on the show and they responded promptly. Great trip down memory lane. Still can't believe I am not the only person who remembers the Micronauts.

    Retro Rad!
At a time when podcasts are plentiful, TechnoRetro Dads is a show you shouldn't miss. They discuss a wide variety of 70s and 80s pop culture, movies, and media and most importantly they have fun doing it. Like most shows, a lot of the success comes down to the effectiveness and likability of the hosts, and I think that hosts Shaz and Shua make a great duo. I find myself laughing along, reminiscing about cool movies, and hearing fresh perspectives on beloved franchises. Check it out!
