    Not just for test prep!
I started listening to this podcast a few days ago on my search for a show that would help me build my vocabulary back up,. I always loved vocab when I was a kid and wanted to recapture the joy of language. I’ve really been loving this Podcast. It’s calming and educational, and a great way to pass a commute.

    Fun and effective!
I started listening to Nick’s series in 2024 starting from the beginning. I loved it right away for his fun personality and way of presenting neologisms with synonyms and mnemonics. It was already good, but the podcast has evolved and is so much more effective now! I love the sound clips from voices that I recognize and in a variety of contexts. It really helps to enable a rich understanding of the words AND it simultaneously serves as mnemonic devices, as well. Brilliant, Nick. Thanks!

    Wonderful teacher
I have been searching for a long time for a podcast that I can learn advanced vocabulary and haven’t been so successful until I found Nick. His lessons are very well-composed and the way he explains meaning of complicated words are fascinating and easy to understand. Examples of vocabulary are engaging and lively. I enjoy his questions because they are very on point and make me an active learner and process the words and remember as well as understanding them well. I also enjoy his kind warm voice, too. What a wonderful teacher! Keep up the great work, Nick. Thanks so much!

    What a great resource
I’ve searched for other vocab building podcasts, and all of the others are very dry and have little to no production value. The host of this podcast brings a sense of levity to his podcast without going over-the-top. Very nice balance. Thanks for the pod!!!

Say goodbye to boring vocabulary lectures
It’s such a fun way to learn words! I’m studying for the GRE and I really enjoy how he makes words fun and even gives mnemonics to help you remember boring words in creative ways. I thought this was going to be painful & sleep inducing but it’s engaging and memorable. I also love the splash’s of fun whether it’s music, random blooper or his adorable son talking! Keep up the work!

    Good for Commute
Listening to this on my work commute to prepare for the GRE. Sometimes I wish the podcaster players around with voice mods a little less. Overall helpful though and one of the better vocabulary podcasts out there.

    👍🏻
Great way to learn new words and expand one’s vocabulary. There are some episodes with inappropriate language and a strong liberal spin.

    So far so good!
I’m not studying for anything, I just felt like after years of being out of college that I wasn’t as eloquent as I used to be. Plus I just love words. I was happy to find a vocab podcast that feels accessible. People around me are aware I’m listening to it and will ask me to share a good word with them, which makes for great conversations. I’m still early in, the only thing I’ve noticed so far is that in the “glib” episode he keeps spelling it g-i-l-b. Other than that, it’s great so far. Love that you made such an esoteric podcast for us word lovers (see? It works!)

    So Helpful!!
I have very much enjoyed listening and actually being able to remember the words.. thank you so much for doing this! ps I love when you do the a review episode of the previous episodes!
  • Newrhubarb
a fun way to expand your vocabulary
I've been studying for the gre and this has made learning new words so much easier! I turn it on if im cooking or in the shower and will repeat the words while he gives you fun mneumonics. He also inserts clips of other people talking in speeches or tv shows so you can get a sense of how the word is used before he defines it. Afterwards he asks you questions and gives you time to answer it so the definition really gets drilled in your head. He's even started doing something in the more recent episodes where he does a recap of the previous episode which is super helpful if youre listening to them in a row. If I have one suggestion for you nick is that you cut out the part where you do the questions and rank the answer choices since its a bit subjective and not as helpful. If you could maybe come up with a sentence instead and have two answer choices rather than those types of questions i think that could be better! But seriously no complaints otherwise.

    Love it
Thank you so much for putting the time and effort into creating this. I really appreciate it. Your podcast came up as a recommendation on our Facebook group for aspiring CRNAs to help those of us that are studying for the GRE. This has helped me so much because the different types of examples you give help us who are not native English speakers. Sometimes the definitions given for these words online use words to define it with words that sometimes I don’t know either 😅. Thank you again and I will still keep listening to this even after I am done with the GRE !!!
  • Sadra138
    Superb podcast
I have literally never written any reviews. This podcast has provided a well-organized yet fun-listening sets of worlds, suitable even for people not doing exams. It is certainly not a secret that GRE words are numerous and esoteric. Accordingly, Not only Nick tries to simplify learning of these worlds by providing various interesting examples, but also he carefully chooses mnemonics to help you remember words which is the most challenging part of it. Adding different talks and speech from famous people and mixing it with hiphop music has created an engaging and highly constructive podcast. Thank you Nick. I will certainly make a donation very soon.

    This Podcast Makes Studying Fun!
Not only do I look forward to studying for the GRE every day, but my verbal score has also increased significantly since I started listening! I am addicted to this podcast and listen to it on every commute to work and every walk around my college town. I have shared this podcast with many friends who are also in the process of studying for the GRE, and they, too, have found it immensely helpful! Thank you so much for all the work you do, both on this podcast and as a nurse. Keep fighting that good fight (and maybe post a few more podcasts soon?)!

Honestly this is the best podcast for vocab. I feel super lucky to have found this. Clicked on other ones before I found nicks neologisms and those sucked.

    Love, love, love!
Found this gem while looking for podcasts to help me study for the GRE. Nick does a great job explaining and reviewing examples of each word, making it very easy to understand! I love that he throws in some humor, and like that he covers only a few words in each episode (makes it easier to digest). I am listening almost everyday now, and actually look forward to it.... who would have thought? :)
