LoveGrubHubExceptPoorly writtenI’ve only listened to 10 episodes but have now stopped following the show because there’s just too much repetition. The same thing is said three different ways which is unnecessary and feels like filler just to make the show longer. Also, the ones I’ve listened to include poor grammar, such as using the word Legos when the plural form of the word is Lego. Another example, saying that the suspect’s phone was wiretaped when it should’ve been wiretapped. The writer seriously needs an editor!

KtksommelierI can’t anymoreThe over-explaining of EVERYTHING is annoying. The ADs are horridly placed. Good content, but a very hard listen.

freddi91No attributions to source materialLack of attributed sources in the script is a red flag. Makes me think she’s plagiarizing the material. The episode I listened to sounded like a summarized version of another podcast that actually interviewed people involved. Also, I went to look at a blog where the sources are allegedly posted and there weren’t any listed.
-
CajunnYukShe already has her opinion, but her voice… I just can’t take her staged emotions. That and she might repeat the same facts 12 times I guess to make the podcast last long enough.
-
CrimeResearcherFacts wrong and poor grammar!Does AI write your scripts and do you not even proofread them? Tried to listen to the Ashley Benefield episode, but you confused the words ‘wife’ and ‘marriage,’ and soon after you started stating well-established facts of the case incorrectly. Couldn’t finish the episode.

cakewalk33Love!I just found this podcast and I love everything about it. Host has a clear, concise voice that is pleasant to listen to. The cases are thoroughly researched and presented. Excellent job!

PersonwithopinionHas 4 star potential if the host hones this one skill. Which is totally doable. Will definitely adjust my review if and when… It takes exactly 0 talent to read a transcript. It is so boring to listen to someone drone on like reading me a shopping list. It’s too robotic. Tell me about these cases. Conversationally. Don’t read them to me. That aside, the host doesn’t cuss, is respectful of the victims and their families, editing is good, mic and sound quality is good. They just REALLY need to learn how to read and not make it sound like you’re reading. Narration or oral interpretation classes could help. Though, the quickest way to make a dramatic improvement would be to do your research, read through your transcript before recording, and then just tell us (rather than read to us) about the transcript and refer to your notes rather than reading it. Or quit relying on a transcript at all and just make a bulleted list and refer to that, as you are recounting the case. This will change your tone, your inflection and will make it a richer podcast. And this can definitely be 5 star potential once you learn to add more color. Whether about the history of the area of story, more background on the ppl involved (to help us ‘get to know them’ and connect). Keep going. There is so much right about this podcast-it has good bones.

Jmarie303Great Show Horrible AdsI love the way Courtney tells each case clear and concise which is what I look for I cannot listen to podcast where people ramble I need an agenda lol! I will say the ad placement is HORRIBLE the show starts with about 1-3 min ads then the show disclaimer comes and an explanation of the case making you think “it’s starting” only for more ads come in and then small talk and finally 6 minutes in the story starts and then again at the end the same intro we get about supporting the show comes on and it’s just so redundant especially when you listen weekly! Like get to the story please I don’t mind ads and can pay to not have them but it’s really just the placement and delivery of them
-
erminiverExcellent delivery, horrid pronunciationI’m referring to the pieces on Lady of the Dunes. Almost everyone in the United States knows there’s no Whitney Bulgur. Isn’t Bulgur some kind of wheat. You mentioned that the punk Whitey Bulger was looked at for possibly murdering the then unidentified woman. But you called him Whitney Bulgur. Such strange sloppy presentation in an otherwise very good podcast.

myhistorycanbeatupyourpoliticsHardest Working Podcaster in True Crime, IMOExcellent presentation of facts. No glamourization of crimes, respect for victims. A focus on foresnics and states clearly if she knows or doesn't know. Plus - her patreon is good and recommended, more output than any podcast I know (included my own). Her voice is fine, pronunciations are fine, jeez-louise folks.

wilfulgreenMakes no senseDull Then it got to the monks 🙄 Random dumb stuff Josh was just a dumb average college kid Dog handler was bad? Yet the family hired it In general it’s drivel
-
Jln7Could be improvedThe content is interesting but the delivery needs some work. Pronunciation of words like Ek-scaped (escaped) can be distracting.

GrammarholePretty GoodShows contain a lot of interesting information and I typically enjoy listening. Host has a few speech impediments that can be a bit grating, because when someone’s voice is all you have, it’s easy to focus on imperfections. She can say “crime SCENE” correctly. Not sure why “teen” comes out “teeng.” Scripts could be edited better, too. Occasionally she’ll repeat facts a few times and she uses the word “literally” incorrectly on occasion. When discussing facts, that can change the entire intended meaning. I wish I could proofread her scripts. I’ll keep listening, though.

TaraannabelleStarted listening…Started listening this week and will continue. I will say I like the show but being from NJ and having listened to Direct Appeal, it has inaccurate information on the Suitcase/Melanie McGuire case.
-
Jacque MatthewsDon’t do episodes without speaking with the families of the dead. Please, stop glorifying murder by not giving grieving families a voice.

ahotdvbnjjBinge-Worthy PodcastI have been a huge fan of the forensics side of true crime ever since CSI first premiered. And while I know not everything happens in real life as it does in that and other crime shows, it’s still a big thrill to me so watch the science of it all. While listening to podcasts is a newer thing to me, I stumbled onto this one while looking randomly viewing true crime ones. I’m a person that will not be able to listen to audiobooks or podcasts if I can’t stand a voice and thankfully that’s not the case here. I really enjoy the storytelling, the in-depth research that’s obviously done for each episode, the fact that each technique is carefully explained. It really brings a unique aspect to the show, to focus on the science while learning about the crime. I’m not able to subscribe for bonus episodes at this time but when I can, I’m excited to hear even more forensic tales. It’s clear that you care a great deal about telling these tales and making sure they’re told well.
-
Verselearner33Slow and incredibly repetitiveThe host talks incredibly slow with long pauses, monotonously constantly repeating what was already said. It feels like she’s reading to children. I was yelling- you already said that! It would do well to have someone listen and edit before you post.

mummyzombieof2Love this podcastI love this podcast! Even if I have heard of a story before I like Courtney’s specific focus on forensic evidence.
-
nancyhueyPretty good but…I like Courtney’s content and her voice, but the constant pronouncing of words that end in “ing” with an “ink” sound is distracting (like pronouncing the word “leaving” as “leav-INK”
-
MSfromKYForensicThe girl talks too fast. Ugh.
-
SecrectquailOh my word… this is the bingeI started listening to this podcast in 2020 over lockdown and I binge this so much my friends are getting concerned because I listen so much. Amazing audio and research! Could use some work on the diction but other wise amazing!
-
rlong26Well doneShe has a great voice and has her facts are right! Enjoy listening to this podcast everyday! She speaks clearly and sounds great! Highly recommend!
-
MikeTheEagleWell-ResearchedCourtney does an exceptional job of presenting the information. She tells the story in a unique voice. I look forward to every episode.

Tarzan wifeCheck your pronunciationAnd know your geography better
-
whytho1988Decent crime podcastI like the podcast and think it’s well done overall. However, the host’s pronunciation irks me a bit. It’s “affidaviT” and not “affiDAVID” and things like that. Hope she works on the grammar and enunciation.
-
randomdude28374829True Crime FanaticI listen to about 10 different true crime podcasts and this one is probably in my top 5. Courtney is very informative and gives many details. My only suggestion would be for her to try adding a little bit of enthusiasm to the delivery… I realize it is serious material, but perhaps a little more variation in the tone of her voice would make it more attention-grabbing. I will continue listening regardless!!
-
magaoingoWikipedia ResearchListened to Richard Glossip episode. Left out a ton of information that proved Glossip was guilty. Not too objective. Why did Glossip try to cover up the crime the next morning?
-
dgoofijCould be betterHer reading dragging out words long dramatic pauses its just a lazy podcast
-
DrProctorChildren’s StorytimeI really wanted to like this podcast, but the Special English finally did me in. If her audience were children, the “storytime” style would fit: lots of repetition, slow pace, singsong tone, dumbed-down reading style. She might do better with a co-host to both stay on track and decrease the scripted feel.

Tangled!!!!! <3So. Many. Errors.I am astounded that this podcast can be so lazy. The narrator accounts for most of this show’s problems, as she frequently stumbles over her own words. Normally that’s not an issue; happens all the time. But instead of a quick re-record and an easy edit on the back end, she takes the lazy way out and runs the whole recording without edits. Some examples of embarrassing errors: The narrator says the perpetrator’s sentence is “to be conserved consecutively,” where she clearly was reading ahead to the next word and combined the two words together accidentally. Additionally, she uses words that don’t exist: “infamousy” instead of “infamy” and “passer-byers” instead of “passers-by.” These are just a few examples; there are plenty more. And supposedly she has a master’s degree. I won’t comment on her annoying voice inflections that make her sound like an amateur, since I assume that’s just listener preference. The script, too, seems partly to blame, as many phrases are repeated so many times, you become tired of hearing it. “You already said that” kind of thing. Either way it’s wildly aggravating trying to listen to a potentially good show and having it ruined by laziness. Skip this show if you don’t want to grind your teeth every five minutes because of eye-rolling errors.

Phillygirl1966Mixed FeelingsI really have mixed feelings with this podcast, I'm really trying to hang in there. I don't care for the excuses and blame game that you put on others when it comes to the criminal conduct of the people you cover in some of your cases. You appeared to blame NASA (episode #55) for Lisa Nowack’s criminal behavior, and you spoke more on Darlie Routier’s self-inflicted cut on her throat and didn't even touch the surface about the savagery and brutality her two sons suffered. And as someone else noted, a lot of the names and places in your stories are mispronounced. Please remember the true victims in the cases you cover, not the perpetrators or those sitting in jail for their murders.

stlvulpixLove this podcastI heard the most recent episode and then have gone back to beginning. I think it’s great all around. She has a great narration voice and style. I supported on patreon because the stories are thorough and entertaining.
-
AswissarmyForensicIt’s like you’re not really sure what Forensic Science is. You don’t distinguish between facts and hearsay that’s a problem with your podcast.
-
VelvetjmlRecent episodes are betterI listened to the latest couple of episodes and I liked them, I decided to start from the beginning and it’s hard to get through at times. She has such a sing songy voice it’s distracting. It’s in such contrast to the brutality of the content . It feels like she’s reading to children . She leaves out obvious details which have me yelling at phone or car radio! Lol I’m skipping a few episodes as I go along and I’m glad she’s improved so I’ll keep listening. I just can’t take her pleasant tone speaking about Murder .
-
Nikky117DistractingIs the host dyslexic? Or does she just not care enough about pronouncing names correctly? It’s very distracting when she continuously messes up names and locations. Adding letters that aren’t there and completely ignoring other letters in words. I can’t.
-
KaelaKardashianTo the point with a great narration. The stories include great detail, the host stays on topic, and her voice is clear and concise so following along is easy.
-
WmhuntMy new crime junkieWell narrated of some notorious and less well know tragedies. Recommended.
-
JackowitzGoing in a bad directionI enjoy being educated on all these cases most people (including me) only knew the gist of, educational and entertaining at the same time, but its starting to take almost 5mins just to get the story started, and within the story Courtney throws in to many unnecessary comments. I really enjoy the show but popularity or something is starting to cloud the creators main objective I think, because at the end of the day most people are playing this to hear Forensic Tales, not all of Courtneys extras. I gave it 3 stars when I would like to give it 5 but i’m definitely starting to get turned off.
-
TBPFitnessA Unique Spin on True CrimeCourtney's expert opinion makes this show come to life. She presents clear, enjoyable stories, and keeps you entertained (while at the same time being respectful to the victims.) If you want to learn how forensics solve cases then Forensic Tales is a must for you. Keep up the great work. Loved it!
-
CenijuneTHE BEST!!This podcast takes you to the real time and place!! Such an incredible listen! Thank you Forensic Tales!!
-
MurderSquaredPodcast🖤✍🏼I started listening at episode 84 and I can’t wait to go back and binge! Courtney is a world class story teller.I was hanging on to her every word.
-
kbreen123My weekly commute routineI love listening Courtney’s podcast on my way to work. Each episode is painstakingly researched and planned and the delivery is excellent. It is clear she takes every step she can to provide all the evidence just as a true forensic scientist would! I’m excited for each weeks episode and can’t wait for more. Do a D.B. Cooper episode!
-
jschiff07Engaging & informative!I’m a HUGE fan of podcasts (basically have one playing at all times of the day) and these episodes are always some of my favorites! They are engaging, informative, well thought-out and you can tell how much research goes into every episode. Courtney has a captivating voice that draws you in, and her explanation of every case keeps you wanting more! Can’t recommend this podcast enough!
-
moodybloopsPoor information summarized poorly. The world is not csi, police make mistakes, quite a bit actually. Breathlessly recounting law enforcement techniques as if they are true, without considering counter-arguments is not responsible, especially since some of these cases have yet to go to trial. Most of this information is taken from sensationalized accounts in newspapers. It would be good if you had some knowledge or expertise about what you are talking about.
-
Jaiti2090I try REALLY hard!!!She has great cases BUT the way she talks 🤦🏻♀️ I just can’t take her seriously with her valley girl, AS IF way of talk! She just doesn’t sound very educated and I could never take her seriously as a professional if I ever had to listen to her talk. Every word is exaggerated and dragged out. Super annoying. But I guess people from CALI just have that tone of voice/manner of speech🤷🏻♀️
-
SumsenetPredictable, trite, ordinarySophomore level crime podcast. Moves slowly in a non-compelling manner. Misleading at times. Injected with not-so-subtle woke culture. Forensic science is supposed to be free from bias.
-
Mistine007Favorite at the momentI LOVE your voice. I LOVE that you don’t do a ton of small talk. I have no idea why you guys don’t have thousands of 5 star reviews. Your podcast is a hidden gem! I will do my part in helping get the word out about your amazing podcast!!
