NYC ProsecutorA superb podcastThis is a delightful and very useful podcast. The narrator, Anna, has an obvious love for her subject matter, and seems to delight in each lesson. She also ends each lesson with endearing little “cultural notes.“ I have found this very useful in my efforts to pick up some working knowledge of Ukrainian. I returned to Ukraine seven weeks ago, and am now staying in Kyiv. When I lived here for a few years long ago, I studied Russian, but I never studied Ukrainian. It probably makes it a easier for me to learn Ukrainian this time. But this podcast is really excellent. It does a very nice job of picking different topics and presenting them in a useful and helpful way. And it strikes just the right balance between learning the fundamentals and skipping some of the technical challenges of case and conjugation. It also provides some excellent supplementary written material.

PjmailДуже дякую, Мій улюблений подкаст!!Thank you much for creating this content, I started learning Ukrainian using a language learning app and I wanted to pair it with a native speaker, I found FMU first then I found this and it has helped me with the tenses and the cases.

B.E. SharpThe Weight of Words…While searching for help in understanding Ukrainian cases, I found this podcast in its current season (season 6). I quickly realized that it would be ideal for me to start from season 1 and so I dove in. It immediately occurred to me that this threw me back in time to before the current war in Ukraine. I’ve been mesmerized with the time displacement while filling in the blanks of my Ukrainian grammar knowledge. This is exactly what I was looking for and I hang on every word which now carries more weight in the context of Ukraine today (in 2024). I’d highly recommend it for anyone looking to learn and, especially, improve their knowledge of the Ukrainian language. I’d also like to point out that the host, Anna, is an extraordinary teacher. Her absolute love for the subject comes through consistenly and her enthusiasm is infectious. Clearly, there’s a team behind the podcast and they’re surely great but Anna truly sets a great tone for the podcast.

RomWerA Ukrainian Language Learning Treasure!!!I have listened to many different podcasts over the years that were aimed to teach foreign languages, like Spanish, French and German. But Anna’s well-thought, effective and nurturing podcast for learning Ukrainian has surpassed all of these other programs. I have listened to all 5 seasons and the current season, and the progression that is seen throughout the course of the podcast show a carefully developed craft of providing an foundational understanding of a language that many native English speakers will find difficult to navigate. But if you are persistent, you will progress. Anna speaks with such confidence; the tone in her voice instills this warm friendly accepting atmosphere, which in some sense lessens the anxiety one gets when learning, especially a language. You can listen to the podcasts for free, but if you subscribe to the podcast, additional material are available. The community that has been created by this podcast is a testimony to the effectiveness Anna has established. I unequivocally recommend this podcast to anyone, but especially for those who ‘love and want to learn the Ukrainian language’.

Zelda Fan 513Дякую!Ukrainian isn’t my first, second or third language. But this has to be my favorite. As a speaker of English, Spanish, French, Ukrainian, Japanese and Korean, I’ve became quite a critic of language learning apps. I was so happy to see this! I’ve been learning Ukrainian for about a year now. However, progress was very slow and Duolingo lacked explanation, but when I found your podcast, I was delighted! As a Ukrainian, I wanted to learn the language to understand my culture better and when the war started it just speeded up my desire to learn. I hope you and your entire family are okay on these troubling times and should know that support is there! I was wondering. Is there a different dialect in the Chornobyl area versus Kyiv. My family is from there and I want to be as authentic as possbile. Ваш Подкаст - Дуже Чудова! Мир в Україна! Thank You! Дякую! Gracias! Merci! ありがとう! 감사합니다!

person_with_vehicleAnna is a superstar 🌟I found this podcast after getting bored (and a little dubious) of Duolingo. But the combination of the two is really strong. Anna is such a fun and enthusiastic person and incredibly encouraging. She’s not afraid to be silly but is still very precise with teaching. I honestly question myself as being too much of a grump after listening to this podcast! Thank you so much Anna you are truly one of a kind.
-
dashkovsOutstanding pacingI’m a lifelong language learner (French Spanish & Russian to name a few) and I can be a harsh critic of language learning apps and programs. This one is excellent! Just enough challenge and new information in each short episode. Just the right amount of explanation. Chudovo! I’m hooked!

ĄzisTreasureThis podcast is simply a treasure. I can barely remember how I discovered it. I think it was a simple search on Spotify. I started learning Ukrainian briefly after russia started the full scale war on Ukraine. I immediately fell in love with this podcast. It’s so warm, honest and welcoming. I am slowly learning Ukrainian and keep coming back to the same first seasons. It’s a delight. Дякую Анна!

Flipponzel McSnazzleSo much fun! It feels like meeting a new friend! These lessons are fantastic. The first few episodes are a little flat. But Anna very quickly develops a warm, engaging feeling that makes you feel like you are listening to a new friend. I am a premium member so I feel like you get max benefits from listening to shows and referring to the lesson PDFs available to premium members. But it’s not totally necessary. I don’t always listen to LEARN. A lot of the time I listen to just train my ears passively to hear the language. And Anna is such a warm person. She is a master teacher so that combined with her welcoming personality makes this podcast feel like you are meeting a friend for coffee.

Scott.RichardsPerfect for intermediate students of UkrainianI have just begun studying Ukrainian, but have intermediate understanding as a result of advanced level Polish & Russia. This podcast is brilliant! Wonderful content, great personality, helpful transcript. I’ll be signing up for the premium access straight away, so I expect there will be more glowing feedback as I dig into the library and premium content.

Joyous SContextual, efficient lessons speed Learning UkrainianI’ve been learning Ukrainian since the end of February via Duolingo. Since I don’t live in a place where Ukrainian is spoken commonly, I lacked understanding cultural elements, relative terms and informal phrasing. This podcast is meeting me there and filling in the gaps. Each lesson also includes fun facts about Ukrainian which, so far, I’ve been ignorant to each one. The vibe is upbeat and kind with each lesson and I love the personality of the host. Love love love. Слава Україні!!!

Mme. TristeThis podcast makes learning Ukrainian easy & fun!I love this this podcast. I am an American with roots in Italy and in Eastern Europe (Lithuania, Poland & probably others as well - maybe even Ukraine). Since the war began, I have been wanting to learn Ukrainian. I think the language is beautiful, and considering what’s happening, I think it is possible that someday we may all have some new Ukrainian neighbors, and I want to be able to make friends. I have been listening to Anna for the last few weeks, and I am really enjoying learning from her. (My heart breaks when she talks of her love of Kyiv, Karkiev and other cities because I know these first lessons were recorded quite a few years ago.) The pace is great, and she makes learning the language fun! Brightest blessings and duzhe dyakuyu Anna! Slava Ukraiini. 🇺🇦❤️🙏🏼

Danny/ДенніDanny/ДенніAnna’s format, methods, and explanations are by far the best I have experienced in studying Ukrainian. I have studied Ukrainian for almost two years, the first 12 months of which were in a professional language school in Washington D.C., and Anna surpasses every instructor I have had in that her lessons are incredibly organized and use a well structured building block approach, where learned material is reinforced over time by constant re-exposure to material. I have found her explanations of Ukrainian grammar (one grammar topic per lesson), her verb of the day (weekly lesson), and her vocabulary lists (weekly) exceptional. Her utilization of real conversations in order to increase listening comprehension, expose her students to myriad new words while reinforcing previously used words and grammar structures/concepts, and use colloquial language and even Ukrainian idioms to increase the abilities of her listeners is phenomenal. I am about to start Season 4, and really hope there are more lessons to come thereafter!
-
jujokwolykReally great presentation in manageable partsAnna does a great job of presenting just the right amount of information, providing an appropriate amount of repetition, and explaining the cultural meaning behind the content or style of delivery. I am Ukrainian -American but a beginner in studying the language. This is so helpful!

Fel NoelleJust what I neededI only just discovered these lessons this week and listened to the first 10 in one day. I've been studying Ukrainian by myself. So far, I've completed the app Duo Lingo several times over and have started a workbook as well. But those sources are mainly helping me with reading and writing. I needed something that would help me more with speaking and listening to the language and this podcast is perfect. Anna, you explain things very well and your sessions are entertaining and simple to follow. I look forward to getting through them all, thanks! I believe these lessons will help me a lot in learning to identify and isolate words when listening to the language, and just becoming better familiarized with the different sounds.
-
thenorthnateAwesome!I'm an American learning Ukrainian on my own and just found these a few weeks back. Anna speaks fantastic English and makes learning Ukrainian fun! Thanks!
