Great show, Timothy Lees voice is unlistenable tho
Love this show, but had to turn off the one episode w Timothy Lee. He is not suited for an audio medium. Also Felix’s take on effective altruism is total bunk! It’s all a cover! It’s 100% an excuse for greed! What’s EA got to show for itself? And how many people got rich telling themselves and every gullible fool around them that they were really looking out for someone else!? And how much did they improve others’ lives?!? Give me a break!

    What happened to Thrilling Tales?!?
This was, up until this point,a show called “Thrilling Tales of Captialism” full of interesting stories about the history of business. Now it has suddenly become “Slate Business” and a “How To” podcast with episodes about generic business topics? Not cool. If you cancel a show close the feed. This is click farming.

Good show, but the obnoxious ad at the start...
Please make your internal ads match the overall tone of the show. The current ads for Demi Burnett (sp?) are the most jarring and obnoxious combination of music and voice I have ever heard. It makes me want to throw my earbuds across the room as I simultaneously hit the 15 sec skip button. You are devaluing your well researched shows by starting them with an offensively obnoxious ad.

    Love it
A fascinating peek inside some of the most recognizable (and sometimes controversial) brands. Great interviews and never dull.

Love it (most of the time)
This podcast is very interesting. I love the premise - a very interesting story about how these businesses were formed and skyrocketed and all the trials and tribulations they faced. I especially love the fact that it approaches episodes without judgement of the business or the founder(s), that it isn’t a polarized or partisan exercise and it isn’t filled with moral outrage on either side. Such a relief. A few jarring exceptions include the episode on weight watchers, which dripped with contempt for the business and the founder and was painful to hear. Please stick to your usual thoughtful, reflective, and nonjudgmental approach.

    podcast or Hallmark advert?
I used to like this show, but this entire latest episode (Hallmark cards) plus Hallmark ads in all other Slate podcasts equals one pandering advertisement disguised as podcast?

    Poorly researched
If you want to listen to some guy tell stories about a subject he knows nothing about this is for you. I started w the McKinsey episode. He tries to tie the rise of this firm with the fall of “good paying” middle Managment jobs. What he neglects to mention is the the rise of automation that eliminates the tasks that middle managers used to do. Stopped listening when he started blaming McKinsey for income inequality. What a load of it I thought well, a single clunker - first episode. Listened to 2 more episodes. Equally uninformed. It’s pretty clear this guy has never been in business or bothered to talk to the people that run them. Oh but he did ride on a chartered jet w Victoria secrets models - in the back. So that qualifies him as some kind of expert. Just not business reporting.

    Frustrating
If you are looking for a podcast to support your far left ideology without any critical thinking or balance, this might suit you.
