Thank you Heather for guiding us to discuss in a safe and positive light our concerns and curiosities. We CAN pivot and thrive and make a difference in a career in non-clinical Medicine. Peds quilterWhen Answers Don’t Come Soon EnoughDr. Randall’s experience and feelings mirror my own 100%. I have felt myself at a crossroad this past year and developed physical symptoms from what I believe was all of the stress I was trying to push through/ suppress/ tell to “be quiet”. After 31 years of being a pediatrician, I feel lost, overwhelmed, burned out… all of the things you and Dr Randall discussed. Thank you to you and to Dr Randall for sharing her journey.

Jen.R 105Thank YouAs physicians, we go into medicine wanting to help others. If we question this career path, it can be an immensely shame-inducing and isolating experience, as it has been for me. This podcast has enabled me to understand that I am not alone, my feelings are valid, and that, yes, there are other ways to use my gifts to help others, beyond traditional clinical medicine. There is always hope, which is my biggest takeaway from this podcast. I eagerly look forward to listening to this podcast every Thursday. Thank you so much, Heather.

She gathers a variety of guests—each offers a unique perspective. Regardless of where you are in the journey from clinical medicine, these podcasts are incredibly useful tools. Even for those who ultimately decide to stay in their clinical careers, Heather’s advice removes the self-doubt and allows for an informed decision. Wish these podcasts existed some twenty years ago!

KFM86For the early, mid-, or late career physician! This podcast is a game changer. Whether you are an early, mid-, or late career physician, Heather hits on topics that matter to all. This podcast is both pragmatic and inspirational, all thanks to Heather’s thoughtfulness to sort through and contemplate a variety of physician concerns. One such concern is how to think of a career outside of the clinical medicine box, with the help of diversified guests and those Heather’s lent a hand. The guests are candid and tremendously helpful in the company and safety of Heather’s warm and compassionate interview space. The common denominator of the physicians she interviews is that they are now satisfied in their career choices, which, lends so much hope to us all! Can’t wait to continue learning from this podcast!

MadEdwEssential for the NonClinical Career JourneyIn medicine there is common misconception that direct patient clinical care is the only option and avenue to success. Through residency and into my early career years I had never met or even heard of a physician leaving to pursue an alternate career with their degree. When one of my former resident colleagues had the bravery to make the transition out of clinical medicine I jumped at the chance to find out how she did it. She sent me Heather’s name and I was introduced to a world of opportunity and hope. This podcast is a direct compilation of Heather’s years of wisdom as a physician who made this transition herself many moons ago. With humor and compassion she gracefully helps you navigate the dark unknown that is a NonClinical career as a physician. She interviews a variety of knowledgeable voices from recruiters in various industries to physicians who left clinical medicine to physicians who have successfully revamped their clinical careers to find fulfillment instead of burnout. If you are a physician suffering from burnout or the sense that direct patient care isn’t the right fit for you - you have come to the right place.

DoctorSNA True Champion of the Human SpiritDoctors are very special people. They are just like everyone else, and they are unlike anyone else. Using gifts of her own true nature, Dr. Heather Fork serves as a skillful guide and witness on your unique journey towards fulfillment. She holds time and space at “the crossing” as you seek to remember what brings you joy. She then supports you to honor it in a way that no one else could ever satisfy but yourself. I’m so happy to watch Heather’s heartfelt work expand into this rich podcast. Grateful to all those who have shared their stories and their spirit and to Heather for honoring them all!

NuyoricanmdWhen you are at a crossroad.I have been following Dr. Heather Fork - Doctor’s Crossing blog and subscribed to her weekly emailing list for over four years. Now that she has started her podcast, I have found them accessible and easy to stay informed. I listen to them on my commutes and even while exercising. If you are in a transition phase in your career or as Dr. Fork says at a crossroad you will find listening and hearing the stories of our fellow colleagues insightful. When they are describing their experiences and expressing their sentiments you understand that you are not alone. And that many have shared maybe a similar event or sentiment and it has been helpful to hear the voices of others sharing candidly their story. Also, I found the podcast to be very helpful and informative for example the physician recruiter podcast was really informative on what things to troubleshoot to increase our chances for success with a job application and interview. I do highly recommend the Carpe Diem podcast for any other fellow colleagues. If you just want some information or hear other fellow healthcare professionals describe their experiences or their story give Dr. Heather Fork’s Doctor’s Crossing - the Carpe Diem Podcast a chance.

GussiepicklesIf I could turn back timeWhere was this podcast when I was a conscientious but exhausted resident who harbored a deep dark shamefuly secret—that I kind of hated practicing medicine? Hearing stories of colleagues who know firsthand what it is to be a physician—the exquisite highs and lows—and who have had the same conflicts as I is extremely therapeutic and even inspiring. It normalizes our feelings of burnout about clinical medicine and attenuates the guilt and doubt. Keep fighting the good fight Heather—you’re helping us all!

I-M-A-Grateful-1Heather IS THE SECRET SAUCE of Career Transition!!I’m totally biased. I have had the incredible opportunity to work with Heather as my career coach over the last 6 months, and I will never be able to say enough about how amazing she is. When I first met with her I estimated my transition would take about 2-2.5 years. I had little confidence, had no idea what I was going to do next, and no idea where to start. But here I am 6 months later rocking interviews, confidant, prepared, and I feel like I have super-sonic jet fuel in my pocket. She feels like mine. But lucky for you—she’s not! You will never regret the decision to talk to her; I guarantee it. You’ve got to try out this podcast. It is having the best physician career transition coach telling you the things you must know—FOR FREE! You’d be crazy not to subscribe. And then (and I swear she doesn’t know I’m saying this) imagine if all this good stuff was personalized to you. Your life, your goals, your worries. You should get on her coaching schedule It’s gold man. It’s the secret sauce.
