    Great Energy and Advice
Thank you Joe for the great work you are putting out there! I just finished my first ultra at the Rabid Raccoon 100K distance in western PA. Thanks in large part to the advice you are sharing in this podcast, I was able to beat my goal time by an hour and finish second overall. Keep up the good work!

    ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This review is way overdue. I discovered this show on a long car ride well over a year ago. I can confidently say that this podcast is a stellar option if you are curious and have no idea where to start or if you’ve been in the sport for years. I promise this show has something for everyone. Entertaining. Informative. And best of all, down to earth. Thank you Joe!

    Stellar!!!
We need more of this! Bite size jumps into real talk about engaging in the sport. This is real advice from real life experience, and not just people wanting to hear their own voice - these folks want to give back from what they have lived. Thank you for putting this out there for all of us!!!

Best ultra running podcast hands down !
Joe is such a great podcast host and person who embodies the sport of ultra running. So much great information as well as his openness and vulnerability. This is my favorite podcast for a car ride or a long run.

    Great no-nonsense advice!
I’m currently training for the half-marathon and marathon distances, but I have my eye on ultras, and this podcast has wonderful advice for all runners about long runs, training approaches, nutrition, hydration, dealing with weather and terrain, and psychology. The interviews and race recaps are detailed and give a real sense of what it’s like to run at the top levels of the sport. Best of all, it’s honest and actionable advice-unlike other podcasts which are rigidly dogmatic about a specific approach or are glorified sales pitches.

    Great show BUT….
Joe is delusional and will never earn a golden ticket. Lots of ADHD energy and great guests.

Just an old guy who runs
I'm a life long runner now 64 thats been running both road and trails all my life, I'm not an ultra runner by definition yet because I haven't run an "official" ultra distance in a race though I have run it for fun some marathons and hoping to do one in 2024. I truely enjoy the podcast and learn a lot from Joe, it is nice to once in a while have episodes that aren't all about 100+ miles, I'm certain that the vast majority of listerners to most of these running podcasts are not and will never be 100+ milers, just -50k to 50mi regular folks. Great show, keep up the good work, and thanks for the under 100 mile episodes. Bluecollar trail runner Mike

    Give credit where it's due
Can't fault Joe's enthusiasm as a new coach. However, IMO it's bad form at best to pass off other's specific training tools as one's own and not give credit. (Some might call it plagiarism.) E.g., the ADAPT race problem-solving model Joe offers in a recent podcast was devised by Jason Koop. Whether Joe learned it from Koop's content in the UESCA course that Joe took, or from reading Koop's book or articles, Koop deserves a mention since Joe is using his idea professionally to help position himself as a coach. (I'm both a teacher and musician, and this principle goes without saying in both arenas. You credit the people whose ideas you use and profit from.) Same goes for numerous other coaching/training points Joe talks about in his podcasts, that seasoned runners will recognize from other sources. Hopefully Joe will mature in this area and do his part to help keep trail and ultrarunning as "clean" as we can. 🙂

    i love this show!
this show is so authentic and so encouraging, even when the stories are struggle-filled. i loves the pierce showe episode so very much. yes, his athletic accomplishments and pursuits are epic and incredibly inspiring for a young ultra runner, but i was blessed to the core by his testimony of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and how he looks to Him for for his purpose in running and life. thank you, thank you for sharing these athletes’ stories.
  • Nemook27
Not just another run-of-the-mill ultra podcast
With so many options out there this podcast, which I just started listening to is exceptionally different in how and what questions are asked. The guest’s responses and conversations really do provide unique and realistic options that aren’t just “standard”. Thank you Joe for what you are doing and bringing to all of us listening.

    Really like the Cocodona interviews!
Loved the Cocodona pre race interviews!!! How about Cocodona post race interview with the same athletes?!? Would be very interesting to hear their assessment of the race and their takeaways from the race!

    Ultra running all stars
The lineup of guests is stellar and the interviews are in depth for the time allotted. The host lets the guests talk freely and I always learn something new and/or insightful from each episode. The only drawback is the host says “like” and “umm” too much. I can’t listen to more than one episode in a row😬.
