    Podcast with Heart
I absolutely love this podcast as someone who lives for holidays. They pulled me with the ‘ALF’s Special Christmas’ episode and I’ve stayed ever since. Keven and Anne are very relatable and honest in their thoughts and reviews of these holiday specials. As a Massachusetts native, I LOVE the accents. I also Love they’ve branched out from just Christmas specials.

Need a little Christmas/holiday comfort and joy? Look no further… you’ll laugh a lot you’ll shed a few tears, you’ll relate and every episode feels like your sitting down with long lost friends who enjoy Christmas and all the holidays as much as you do!

    I love this podcast!
I can always count on you guys to bring me out of the darkness currently surrounding all of us. Please keep doing what you do. The laughs, the feels...all of it. Love and light to you both

    Full steam ahead!
I would like to clarify that I love this show hence the five star rating. When I heard Kev mention losing steam, I happened to be out with my dogs and thought oh no he’s talking about my review. Just for some context I was having a very down day and that particular show I mentioned wasn’t the usual pick me up that your show provides. That being said, my light greets your light and the first show of this season came out strong. Love and light, THE CHERRY RED BOY

The Easter show was a pleasant surprise. Thank you for this. The older I get the more I cherish these memories. It’s especially sweet to know I’m not alone. Love you guys! Tawk shawtly! Xx

    A special podcast indeed!
As the editor of an all Christmas website (christmaseveryminute.com), I am always looking for podcasts related to the holidays to listen to in my car, while commuting or even at night when I’ve settled in with a nice hot cup of coffee and looking to just relax. And so I’ve discovered The Christmas Specials We Love podcast with Kev and Anne. I love the banter, analysis, discussions centered on my favorite holiday specials growing up and even when you wander astray from the topic at hand (e.g., your recent Christmas eve traditions episode). Keep up the great work and keep those episodes coming Kev and Anne! P.S. Your podcast is featured on my website right now in my Holiday Highlights section on the home page! Words matter
I love the content of this podcast and was loving it the week before Christmas until the episode in which the hosts began making fun of people who are “progressive” and “politically correct.” Here’s the thing, guys: Folks who lean left love holiday content, too. Alienating half your audience is never a good idea.

    Great Podcast!!
For any fan of Christmas specials this podcast is a gift. The banter, rapport and gems of info make for worthwhile listening. 2nd year!! You’re back!!!! So happy for the nostalgia!! Tired of political podcasts at this time. This gem is back!!! 3rd year addendum: I love that this podcast is commercial free, no begging to send money, join a paid subscription for bonus episodes. It is like old school podcasts — talking about a topic they love. The love comes through without the commercialism. Just like the true meaning of Christmas!

    Christmas specials from the past!
If you enjoyed Christmas specials as a kid, then this is the podcast for you. Kev and Anne do a great job of sharing their thoughts about these classic tv shows as well as talking about the world at the time these great shows aired. Enjoy!

    Most fun podcast!
I LOVE this podcast so much. I listen to it on repeat. The chats are super fun. I don’t know what else to say. Just listen to it!

Look forward to this podcast every Christmas season
My favorite seasonal podcast! Yes they bring back great Christmas specials from the past, with lots of background and production notes, but better than that I find Kevin and Ann fun and easy to listen to — like hanging out with old friends you don’t get to hear from often enough.

    Holiday nostalgia at its best!
This stroll down memory lane is like a warm hug. To all the Gen Xers out there, this one will bring back memories of childhood in the 70’s and 80’s when things were…different and a whole lot more innocent. The team at TCSWL really knows their stuff and it’s a lot of fun listening to and learning about those holiday specials we hold near and dear. 5 stars and lots of love ❤️

Like a warm chat with friends
I can’t say enough about this podcast. I love it so much I listened to the past seasons several times in preparation for season 3. The research, the perspectives and all the laughter makes you feel such a connection with the hosts. It’s like sitting with a group of friends and having a cozy holiday chat. Keep up the great work CSWL podcast crew!

Celebrating Christmas by entertaining discussion on Christmas Specials and all things Christmas
Thanks for the entertaining stroll down memory lane. Thanks for bringing back the nostalgic Christmas joy of past Christmas traditions and introducing this experience to newer generations.

    Welcome Back 🎄🍿☃️
Hard times come and go but Kev and Anne are our constant, our Holiday routine. Looking for a blue print for good holiday cheer? It’s right HERE.

A pop culture gift … highly recommend this podcast
Admit it: we love our holiday tv specials, especially the ones we grew up watching on one of three channels and only one time per year around the holidays (those were the days eh?) Well, times have changed and while we live in on-demand-microwave-it-and-move-on culture, these classics never lose their charm, wit, and appeal … Times change, but these holiday specials stay the same right? This podcast brings them all to new life with a humorous, loose, but passionate view into the history and meaning behind our favorite shows - great job crew, I recommend with highest enthusiasm …

    Nostalgia abounding
Loving this podcast, great mix of information and opinion and obscure facts. It’s great to have different generations mixing together. Great way to feel the nostalgia!

Be still my Gen X heart!
This podcast is so great! They go through specials that I have watched all my life, reacting in ways that mirror my own 70s/80s childhood thoughts. So much of this podcast has me thinking, “I thought it was just me!” I badly want to hang out with these hosts and talk cartoons, house key necklaces, breakfast cereal, and metal playground slides. Keep it going! And once you add a Patreon, you can be sure I will sign up!!

    Thank you sooooo much!
At the beginning of December, I just went looking for a holiday season podcast and wow, did I hit gold when I came across your podcast! Growing up in late 60’s thru 70’s, these specials meant everything to me. I used my cassette recorder, placed near the TV, to record them before we had a VCR. I would comb thru the TV guide and mark off all specials to record, no matter how obscure. Keep up the great work! Love you Ann and Kevin!! And all the rest. (Anne-Marie from Massachusetts)

    Top-notch trip down memory lane!
This is a really great podcast and I love the multi generational perspective. These Christmas specials hold such an important place in our hearts and minds. I grew up in the 80s when we only had one shot per year to catch these classics on television…. no DVR, DVDs or even VHS at the time! I love the trip down memory lane, and this podcast makes me nostalgic for that time. I also really appreciate some of the lesser known holiday episodes this group has highlighted— WKRP, ALF and Seinfeld— excellent! Please keep up your wonderful work. it’s a real pleasure listening.

    Fun holiday podcast!
Great podcast and trip down memory lane. Gives a new twist and perspective on some of my favorite holiday shows. Worth a listen!

Hilarious show — great for Christmastime
Gen Z / Millennial ('97 baby) here! Huge Rankin Bass Christmas special fan -- glad I’m not the only one thanks to this podcast. Appreciate how this show hilariously deep dives into these specials and appreciates how they contribute to Christmas culture. New England influence and South Park references are a plus!! Talk shawtly!

    Nostalgia City
I found this when simply typing “Christmas” into Podcasts to see what I could find. I don’t know that I have ever hit “subscribe” faster than when I saw you covered “The Year Without a Santa Claus”. I watched these as a kid with my sister in the 1980s. She died in 2008 and every time I watch these now my heart is simultaneously achey and full. Your podcast is fun, nostalgic, informative, and wonderful. You’re all so awesome - I cannot pick a favourite, but if I did, it would be “the one who sounds like he is talking “through a potato” 🤣🤣🤣 Please keep these coming. I can’t get enough!!

    Love, but…
Currently listening to the “Alf” episode, which I was obsessed with as a child and probably knew the Christmas ep by heart. In fact, my niece, Tiffany, was named after the girl in the show. However, your lead up to the actual episode was all over the place. It was 12 minutes in before you explained what was actually happening in the Christmas special. If I hadn’t seen it before, I might have tuned out because it so confusing. When discussing these, it’s so important to remember that some people have never seen them and start from there. Otherwise…thanks for covering an episode that is iconic in my childhood and a really great memory and something I will always associate with my dad, who loved it. He’s gone now, so I was right back in my old living room watching it with him. Thanks. 🌲

    Black Friday Gratitude
Thank you for highlighting the positive side of Black Friday. It is a fun way to jump start the Christmas season and it does bring people together like you said! Thanks for a fun episode!

    Poor quality
I can’t get behind The under Water muffledness of Kevin. Haven’t you done pod casts before? Shouldn’t you have the right tools to not sound like you’re talking through a potato?

    Peace Luv Anne
Anne is Melissa McCarthy level of genuine talent and humor. I love hearing her take on her Christmas experiences because she is so genuine and real! I for one am very picky on audio and have select podcasts I will actually listen too and this is one of them because simply listening to the crew’s canter makes my day and feels as though we are sitting in my living room together! But Anne, no offense to the guys - y'all are great too - but Anne is the goat. Shes your cool mom, wild aunt, and lovable big sister vibes all at the same time! Iconic.

Like hanging out with your friends
All you need is you beverage of choice and some snacks and it’s like hanging out with friends. The hosts are kind and listen to each other, it’s fun, it’s a great way to get in the mood for the holidays anytime of year! I really enjoy all the production trivia and background that is shared during the episodes.

These people could be in your living room talking!!
Great conversation and humor amongst a group of people covering the nostalgia of childhood and breaking down holiday shows, movies, events while they capture a specific time where life was simpler and beloved. The show is for anyone who loves the holidays. Wendy East Haddam CT

    Great Pod
Thank you to Kev and the group from this Gen X girl. It makes my childhood and all the great times come back. Hope it keeps going through the year!

    Old man yells at cloud
While most of the folks on this show are a delight, it feels like every episode gets derailed at least five times when the main host feels the need to go off on an angry rant about how much he hates liberals, political correctness, and younger generations. If we could get rid of him and his unneeded tangents, and just listen to everyone else who wants to actually talk about these specials, this could be a lot of fun.

    Where did you go??
I was extremely disappointed and discouraged to find that, all of a sudden, most episodes have disappeared. This happened about a month ago. Does any one know where they are? I enjoyed listening to them immensely! Will you be back to create more in 2023? The hosts’ depth of knowledge was impressive and interesting! I truly hope there are more to come this year. Oh, and on a less important note, I live close to Bay Village (not sure which of you mentioned growing up there).
  • HoldenB000
    Amazing? But what about 2023??
This podcast made my holiday. It really helped me to get back in the season’s feelings. It made me anticipate Christmas Day like I was a child. But will they be back for 2023??? Some episodes were taken down. I hope their back on Halloween like they said.

    Great memories!
I’m so excited to find this podcast from a Facebook group that I’m in that is a page dedicated to Rankin bass. Someone in the group posted the link. I am generation Alexa what generation X Remember all of these specials from my childhood. The excitement of them coming on once a year was the highlight of our holiday season as kids You all do an amazing job, and your excitement is palpable as you describe each show. Thank you so much for giving us a fun nostalgia trip.

Fun, balanced look at old “classics”
If you are into the classic Christmas specials, this podcast is for you! Lots of production notes and history mixed with both the old-school and revisionist looks at the controversial cultural stuff these shows contain. Best of all, it’s done by a group who have obvious reverence for the shows themselves and also each other. It’s great to hear lively discussion and differing opinions while still maintaining mutual respect and having fun with the material.
