Rachel P. 77Wonderful!Everything about this podcast is so lovely… As a librarian myself, the Readers Advisory aspect is tops! As a now very-anxious-about-the-state-of-the-world-person, the cozy part is so, so welcome in my life. Thank you Agatha Andrews, thank you.

nimbus wimbusInteresting guests and themesRecently started listening on my commute, and I really like the genres it sticks to, as well as the host having insightful commentary. I only wish the audio were a bit better. I try to listen to this when commuting and have to crank up the volume all the way because the audio is more soft than other podcasts. Perfect for in the house but maybe not on the road.

JRStampThe Best Podcast for Book Lovers!I stumbled upon this podcast when Travis Baldree advertised an interview with him some time ago, and I was so glad he shared it! There are great interviews and chats with amazing authors of various genres. If you love gothic reads, horror, thrillers, fantasy of all types, then you will enjoy this podcast! You can also check out Patreon to get in on the monthly Book Club, which is amazing! Highly recommend if you are a bookworm and cannot get enough of books and writing!

-
HappyhauntslibraryFave book podcast!Exactly what I need on my commute to work in the mornings. I love how the episodes range from author spotlights to genre breakdowns to more “think piece” style episodes. It’s enough change to keep things fresh but consistent that I know what to expect!

ParislovesrobertpattinsonHow I pick my next readAgatha not only brings wonderful work to the forefront of an ever-flooded market, but she interviews with so much class, respect, and organization. It’s so easy to listen, re-listen, and explore this podcast. I only wish the episodes were longer!
-
jodhiayIt’s like I’m thereAgatha is a great interviewer - she can make someone who works in a genre I’m not necessarily into the most interesting person there is. That’s a true skill not everyone has. Plus, listening to her and her guests talk is almost like being there with them. Highly recommend.
-
poejuniorLove itI just discovered this podcast last month! I’ve been binging past episodes and eagerly waiting for new ones. I enjoy the wide range of guests, with authors from all types of publishing backgrounds— independent small presses, and big five. Agatha does not discriminate, and I’m here for it. Her background as a historian, librarian and writer made the conversations a cut above the rest. Bravo!

Cad e an scealMy favorite podcastI have a long commute, and depend on podcasts to educate and entertain. This has become my favorite. Agatha and her guests are smart, insightful, and bring wonderful varied viewpoints. She is staunchly feminist and intersectional. And she has never steered me wrong on a book recommendation. I highly recommend.
-
Sara Crocoll SmithA Wonderland of Gothic Literature!Agatha creates a sanctuary of gothic literature and explores all manner of themes in delightful ways. It’s clear she works very hard on making this an excellent podcast for her listeners and often has as strong of a command of topics as the guests she brings on. Highly recommend!
-
FreezerBooksIntelligent and cozyI love this podcast and Agatha is such a thoughtful and intelligent host. She brings out such great conversation with every guest. You’ll have a great time and learn a lot

DirtyscribblerA fast favorite! She Wore Black has quickly become one of my favorite podcasts! I love the way Agatha’s discussions with guest authors covers books but also what the books are doing!
-
btleslieI love this show 🖤This is my favorite writing podcast because it tackles everything from genre to craft and all the most popular and “of-the-moment” books. Agatha is a charismatic and insightful host who lands some of the most amazing authors in the genre. Her book recs have helped me discover some of my favorite authors, and the overall enthusiasm of the show always drags me out of the writing slumps I often find myself in. 5/5 would recommend to anyone searching for a new listen.
-
N. ArcocorridoInteresting and insightful! This is a great podcast for listening to astute commentary about a genre that absolutely deserves more respect! Thank you!
-
brianmcwriterA Dark Delight! This podcast haunts the intersection of so many great genres. Agatha is intelligent and passionate, creating a space for conversations that find a balance of being academic & historical and always downright delightful. I’ve learned a ton from this podcast and highly recommend it to anyone with a penchant for the dark side of literature!

Nutly19Really Enjoying This Podcast!I’m surprised that I only stumbled on this podcast through another one (maybe Talking Scared?) It offers a lot to the listener. Agatha (perfect name!) is extremely knowledgeable and knows her literary topics inside and out. I’d equate this podcast to Talking Scared, and Know Fear in its deep literary critiques. Agatha also knows how to take into context other parts of the societal landscape at the time of the author’s writing. So important. I’ve also enjoyed her tidbits about marketing books to readers, helping readers find the ‘right’ books, etc. Interesting ‘behind the scenes’ of those who work with books. My only small suggestion would be fewer ‘yeah’, ‘uh huh’ and ‘yes’ interjections while the guest is speaking. Her tone is conversational which is very enjoyable, but the interjections can get distracting. Great podcast!
-
kaisersparklesThe BestShe Wore Black is the best podcast on gothic, horror, and mystery fiction out there. Agatha Andrews is a fantastic host who interviews a myriad of entertaining guests who write within the dark fiction markets. Production quality is stellar! Give this podcast a listen and be hooked forever.

DMNic1815Gothic, Horror, and Romance GoodnessI LOVE this podcast. And I love listening to Agatha Andrews talk about gothic and horror media, but I especially love it when she talks about the intersection between it and romance. It is so clear that she’s a voracious and knowledgeable consumer of all three genres. Her speaking style is smooth and effortless—she is just so enjoyable to listen to. And she leads fabulous book industry guest interviews that are fun and conversational. And as someone who loves when spooky, scary, and sexy get blended together, this is the perfect podcast.
