Really enjoyed the latest episode with dr dispenza it really touches with me personally so really good podcast

The episode with Johnathan Haidt was super out of touch. It felt like the classic “older generation hates the newer generation for made up reasons.” Needless to say, it was incredibly disappointing for these two guys to complain about boys being “too sensitive” and “need to play with sticks” and “maybe we should bring back real bullying.” The assertion that progress is being made to go in the direction of being more humane and emotionally intelligent is damaging to youth and the reason young people are depressed is… just tone deaf. The whole episode was weirdly and unpredictably misogynistic and reductive. You’d think a podcast about spiritual enlightenment wouldn’t involve so much whining about youth caring for each other and the good of the world. I’d hope that two guys born in the 60s would have had enough time to mature passed generation wars and superiority complexes. I’d hope Rainn is willing to discuss spirituality and it’s part to play in the game of mental illness among younger generations in order to understand that life IS more difficult for gen z/millenials simply because we just have so much more information than people born in the 60s had. Bottom line: young people aren’t doomed because of the internet and because we care about social issues. We’re doomed because previous generations want to relish the good-ol’-days while yelling from their porch instead of helping.

From the deep insights of Serj from System of a Down to office moments with Angela and Creed, this podcast is worthy. Love this podcast and look forward to many more to come. 5 out of 5 stars

This podcast IS for everyone, and I don’t say that lightly. There is something in each episode for every single person alive, spiritual/religious or not. Anyone who dislikes Soul Boom or gives it a bad review… well, they need it the most.

Rainn! I am so grateful for this podcast! I’ve loved every discussion & guests on the show. I feel validated, motivated, excited. I’ve worked hard with mindfulness and spirituality to heal from BPD & PTSD. Mindfulness has turned my life around and I think these topics of discussion and sharing the importance of mindfulness is SO IMPORTANT! I love art, vulnerability, culture, history, religion, and abstract thinkers, this is perfect for me! Thanks Rainn and take care!

I think we all have something to share where others can learn from us. Mr. Wilson does not need to get a formal degree in religious studies. Have you ever heard of life experience? Learning to think for yourself is the real education needed today. His timely topic of spirituality and not religion is what is needed in this sleeping society. How long are we going to be religious and continue to live in a way that is NOT beneficial to mankind? We are stuck in a world where every man is out for themselves. That can’t be the way. Let’s get back to the basics with an open mind. Listen to what Mr. Wilson has to say. Let’s think for ourselves and not how we were taught to think. What’s the worst thing that could happen? I have been one of your biggest fans since 6 feet under and really appreciate your mind. However, despite your commitment to the Bahi religion and spiritual searching, I think it would really help you a lot if you simply went back to school and got an MA in religious studies somewhere. You need to study comparative religions in the university setting. It would advance your thinking so much. I am a retired unitarian universal minister.

Lovely podcast. The content, the cadence, the guests; all 10/10. So thrilled to have found this and the book.

Funny how in the religious episode with Thema, Rainn specifically says that he doesn’t want to bring up controversial issues on the podcast… and then 5 min later talks about the importance of paying blacks reparations for things that white ancestors did to black ancestors. I am an absolute believer in inter-generational trauma. However, white ancestor mistakes have their own karma to repair. White descendants should not be required to make reparations for things they didn’t do.

I’m happy to see these topics get more airwaves space since you are a TV celebrity guy. Keep up the good work.

I’m en episode and a half in and loving this pod. I’m a United Methodist Pastor on a personal leave and completely rethinking spirituality and more so spiritual community, but not that the abandonment of my current spiritual identity. I just listened to the episode with Angela Kinsey and gained a new appreciation for Rainn and Angela as their characters and as individuals in the ‘real’ world. I’ve always been a huge The Office lover and the opportunity to listen in on conversations of the real people behind the characters was just so satisfying… It was like a real conversation you have with friends you hadn’t talked to in a long time. Totally enjoyable and I’m looking forward to more episodes of Soul Boom.

Thank you so much for having these conversations. I find it bringing me comfort in this turbulent modern age we find ourselves in. So again thank you, please keep going.

We all heard it

Much to be cultivated; capacity to hold space for others, for holding complexity, and most importantly, for deep listening. There is a deep lack of maturity and interest present throughout these interviews, but most clearly in Rick Glassman’s episode, who ironically, is a tremendously talented interviewer and space holder. Every time Rick got close to coming towards important moments of conversational crescendo, he got cut off. Again and again. You could just feel the wave of thought growing to an exciting point and it just got crushed by Rainn. Yet Rick continued to be a generous and patient guest. That says a lot given how spicy he can be. In any case, hope this experience helps Rainn grow as a person and as someone who wishes to hold space for other perspectives and lived experience.

I am loving these conversations so far!! Keep them coming.

A huge fan of what Rainn is doing here. From the Geography of Bliss to Soul Boom to the podcast, I’m all in. It’s real and honest, it’s a little dark at times which makes it approachable and gives some empathy to these insane times we are living in. This is exactly the conversation that so many of us need right now. Just realness.

As a shaman the underlying problem of establishing a common framework of reference has been my driving goal for over 30 years. I have been waiting for this podcast since it was announced. Rainn Wilson is much, much more than the sitcom character he’s famous for. Truly a modern day spiritual sherpa just as much as he is still searching for his own answers. Rainn deftly leads conversations into deeply personal and profound topics while keeping things relatable with touches of humor. I’m looking forward to everything Rainn has in store. This is a wonderful next step from Metaphysical Milkshake. Listen with an open heart and an open mind.

The world needs more conversations like this. My favorite part about the podcast is that Rainn Wilson is so honestly and authentically curious about his guests experiences. Very meaningful and much needed!
